Question Modesty Policy? WB means no sexy DC Prints?

Fairly regularly I will be messaged about the availability of these artworks for purchase. Obviously these DC covers are sold out, however I know some of you were anticipating these to become available as premium prints at Sideshow. Due to a recent Modesty policy for Consumer Products (handed down to DC by Warner Bros.) this policy now unfortunately renders these covers as too sexually provocative. As a result they've been rejected use by Sideshow. I was quite stunned to learn this, however in today's social climate, I understand how they need to be ultra cautious. I was really looking forward to making these milestone artworks of mine more available to all my fans, however this is the current state of the situation. Fortunately this policy does not extend to retailer exclusives, so we are still good there. Anyway, just wanted to let you know. Have a great weekend!

----------------------------

This only apparently applies to Sideshow art prints, not actual comic covers...which is odd.

Here is the Wonder Woman cover I have by him that was included as being "too sexy"

Honestly...I thought this was really tame. Glad I have the cover, sorry for folks wanting a high end print of it.

Ya I saw this on his IG page as well, he can do retailer exclusive covers which means comic stores or online comic shops can commission him for a cover for their store which is where I been getting his virgin covers.

But im starting to see more of a shift in DC artwork, its all cartoony and moving more towards Manga style.

Going to be interesting when Discovery merge with DC and if they make things like they used to, but rumors is no more comic books will be made. Its all Trades or Online Substack stuff for the future.

But I dont mind this cause more artists will be even in more demand on IG and other sites and id rather support them direct buying prints or artwork.

Edit: I been buying up his covers at CGC 9.8 cause way things are going they will be rare and in demand when you dont see this artwork on a comic anymore lol

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

From similar things I've dealt with along these lines, this usually just means "remove the center line between the breasts". Evidently, that one little line showing two parts of skin coming together is too hot for products.

No more comic books?

I wonder how stories will work, characters introduced. Cartoons?

But that’s how breasts work and look when they are properly contained.

This is the bullish!t I hate. None of that looks like porn or overtly sexualized. It’s breasts contained in a top. As a woman I don’t find this helpful AT ALL to reduce the taboo and socialization issues women face from those who can’t control themselves.

Ya everyone is leaving comic companies now, marvel and dc, the artists and writers are all going to Kick starter and sub stack to make their own IP items since they can make way more money.

Big thing going on where disney makes millions off them with the movies and they get paid pennies. Plus sales are dropping off well cause of how they are handling all the characters now in PC culture world

So for DC rumors is when they merge they are doing trades and online only. They are trying hard to get into the Manga world cause Manga books are selling like made and everyone moved to them.

If they would just make good old fashion comics again with hero vs villains and a place we can escape to reading from RL crap, it would do well. But its all about PC culture, sexuality now. So Manga is where its at, just good stories and art.

Check out a lot of YT stuff, plenty of info on how things are going down

The thing is, manga often embraces sexuality. Seems an odd issue to be concerned with.

Personally I think it comes down to ease of access and story telling. Demon Slayer was nothing a few years back, and now it is a massive IP with a hugely successful series and film. All new characters.

"Where do I start Demon Slayer?"
"Volume 1 and go, all by same creative force."

"Where do I start Wonder Woman?"
"Uh...well, maybe here, or there, possibly now...but you need to do research first..."

People love these characters, they buy merch, see the movie, and then never pick up a comic. Been a lot of structural issues for a while now, and I do think manga is doing it far better to reach new fans.
