I just saw this movie last night. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. It just goes to show you don't need a 100 million dollar budget to make a great sci fi flick.

What I'm really excited about is the paint job and the weathering that Weta can produce on their replicas. What I can see on their previous releases are great, solid, make sense weathering(Rayguns). Unlike most of the company's BS laughable brush swings. The Arc gun will be one hell of a AWESOME piece.

That would be great . . . a nice comprehensive book on the D9 weapons, ships, prawns with a technical overview of each weapon, how it works, the projectile it fires, and of course the WETA production side as well.

Oh yeah . . . and a free prawn maquette with every book sold ???

I would definitely be interested in seeing such a book released.

Just saw those pics (thanks) and they look awesome. Comparing these pics with the Arc Generator's description on the Weta site, makes me think (hope) we may end up with something that looks that good. Damn, I am glad I ordered one of these :buttrock:

"An EXACT replica of the guns used in Neill Blomkamp's District 9, designed by Dr Grordbort's designer Greg Broadmore and modelled on the actual props created by the artists and craftspeople at Weta Workshop.

This gun comes battle worn, alien gunk oozing out of its couplings and all the scratches and markings you'd expect from tough action in District 9 and by handling by Nigerian gun runners."

More developments, this time from Daniel Falconer-- give em your suggestions!

Right now the biggest limitation we have is page numbers. The book is locked in at 160 pages, which is a lot, but even if we had 200 + pages we could never get everything in there. There's a huge amount of material to include and the vast majority of it has never been seen before, including stuff we made that didn't end up in the final cut, so it's been really tough deciding what goes in and what doesn't. Do we go for more art but make it all postage stamp sized, or less art but reproduced big and beautiful? It's a balancing act.

CAIN MKII

I will suggest to print all the hardware design studies and if there is room left a bit of creature.

Update.

"Re: your District 9 Arc Generator order #xxxx ...

As mentioned in the email I sent you yesterday, we are processing US & Canadian Arc Generator orders next week.

However, due to the size of these items, the shipment of stock to our US warehouse has been split into two separate shipments.

Next week we will process and dispatch the majority of Arc Generator orders, but unfortunately, due to the limited stock available, there will be some orders that we will not be able to process & dispatch until the second shipment of stock arrives. We anticipate this being in the first week of August.

We will send you an email toward the end of next week to let you know if you are one of the few who has to wait a few more weeks.

Rest assured, we will not process payment for orders that have to wait. For those orders on hold, we will process payment in the first week of August when we have the stock to dispatch.

Apologies in advance if you are one of the people who have to wait, and thank you for your patience.

Kind regards,
Darren"

I'm sure you get yours real soon as only 200 of these made. Same here, the gas projector doesn't appeal to me as wasn't carried around like the AG by Wikus. And yes, a 1/1 assault rifle would be great.

I too would have been interested in display stands if it were not for the lack of space. Due to the aforementioned restriction I intend to wall mount.

Ya, but just having the stands for future display options wouldnt hurt either.

It would be nice if they include a edition size plaque with the stand.

Yea, the replica is bad ass as it is!

The thing is , it's not off. Like Tim from Weta posted, there were few of these used in the film and they have differences between them. The idea was, to produce "A" replica of the AG but not "THE" AG from a specific scene.

The Arc Generator arrived today. Very well packaged so very little chance of damage in transit, and it is just fantastic. You can really see why this one sold out so quickly. It is an awesome weapon design and an extremely accurate replica. I'm quite happy with the weathering and gunk factor of mine also. Here's some pics:

Thanks mate . . . I love my movie weapon replicas and this really is one of the best. And it has a really genuine 'used & battered' look about it . . . covered in scuffs, scrapes, dirt and gunk, but not overdone. Looking forward to the Assault Rifle now !!

Just seen two 1:1 scale Arc Generators up for (re)sale on ebay:

First is quite ambitious with a BIN of $1000 USD or starting bid of $700 USD

Second is much more realistic with a starting bid of $499 USD

I pray WETA will also release all the other cool guns, like the small one Wickus used in the nigerian HQ, the assault riffle used by Christopher or the one looking like a P90.

Gas Projecor on the way!!! just got this email

"Thank you, your payment has been processed and your order will be released to our US Warehouse for dispatch.

Delivery times vary depending on what product you have ordered, but as a rule, expect the following times from our US Warehouse: Up to 5 business days for domestic destinations, up to 10 business days for Canadian destinations and up to 21 days for other international destinations"

I had bought the arc gun and just from that purchase my weta dollars was huge. Gas Projector came to 440 delivered after using my weta dollars.

I have to say Weta dollars are worth a whole lot more than Sideshow reward points. Way to go Weta!!!
