I was wondering if there are Nikon users here (i'm sure there are :D ) and if they want to share tips, advices, pics and others in this topic :batman:

I begin....

I have a D700 with a 24-70mm and 105mm lenses.
I'm planning to take a 70-200mm VR II.

Somebody have this lens here?

I have a D70 which I have had for a few years now. Only a standard 24-70mm lense.

But I am thinking of picking up a 300mm zoom lense.

I have a D90 with 70-200mm VR (not II)
The lens is really great, the image quality that you can get in low ligh condition is incredible. Compare to a 18-200mm VRII you get much better focus speed and picture quality (for the range 70-200 of course).

I ve heard that the version VRII version is even better.
I am even planning to sell my VR for a VRII in the coming months.

Except the price and weight this lens is really perfect.

The first 70-200 VR looks already excellent in your pictures!

Can't wait to have the money for the 70-200 VR II !

I have a wedding in june, so i really need a longer focal.

I saw pictures of the 200mm f/2 today, this lens is simply AWESOME!! Too bad it's pricey..

Nice picture. How do you do that by making a black and white picture with color mixed in. Sorry for the noob question.

cloakndagger
05-15-2010, 11:50 AM
Well it is actually pretty simple. I used to wonder that myself before I try it out:
1 convert the original picture to b&w
2 copy whatever colored part you want from the original picture
3 copy paste it in the b&w version
Voila!

Here is another sample of my cat Milla (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cloakndagger/3990748192/in/set-72157622294736623/):
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2485/3990748192_629326e82c_b.jpg
PS: you can do this with paint.net, you dont even really need any fancy program such as photoshop

it is the lowest of the current Nikon generation. If you can afford it, get the Nikon D7100, a much much better camera.

Also, www.kenrockwell.com is a fantastic easy to ready website dealing with photography.

Thanks for the tip. It's true if I'm going to get a camera I might as well get an extremely good one. I'll definitely look into the D7100 or even better.

Hi Guys - thinking of getting a D7000. Which is the best lens to have for statue photography? I want the ability to take loads of depth of field on statues as big as premium formats and smaller as well. I want to mainly use the lens specifically for statue pics. Thanks!

Hello,

I will go with a 50mm f/1.8
http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-50mm-1-8G-AF-S-NIKKOR/dp/B004Y1AYAC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1325683069&sr=8-5

It will give you great bokeh at a good price.

Yeah, those 85 1.4's melt the backrounds like butter. Beautiful Bokeh. :drooling: Personally, I would love the newer 1.4G, but I need that 70-200mm vrii first. :doh!:

As for the Lions, it was a great season. Too bad we lost to the Saints, but still excited about the years to come. As long as Stafford and Johnson are around, expect great things.
