If I remember a few things correctly, Randy said the following:
Gargoyles Goliath was done as a prototype for Disney.
One delay in the Marvel license is that their license department is full on new people, and not aware of Bowen Designs.

So, wouldn't it be safe to say that the people at Disney are not aware of Bowen Designs and Randy's Goliath?

I didn't know about it until Randy's forum first went up.
I'd love to get that statue.

Maybe in the near future Randy can contact Disney about this.
What do you guys think?

Yes, to both Disney and Bowen collectors.
I liked the show, and think the sculpt looks great.
Not much of a FS collector, but would diffinately get it, even though the wife has been hounding me about FS.

I loved that show, it was episodic drama before shows like Buffy and Angel made it mainstream. I would pick this up in a second if made available. Anyone else remember this great line from the premiere episode;

Goliath
I've been denied everything, EVEN MY REVENGE!

Jesse321

If I remember correctly, Randy did it as a proposal for Disney ... but they passed on it ... for the LIFE of me I have NO IDEA why!

Jess, didn't Randy say that Disney thought they were too "scary" not Lilo and Stitchish enough??

For some reason, that thought came to mind..........

Well, the statue itself is a bit more realistic than the cartoon image, but anyone that watched the show knows that that Gargoyles appearance and there inner nobility was a constant theme in the show, so to me the statue is just perfect.

In either event, I think that this piece would have been marketed to fans of the show, though I can see the some of the more gothic fans of gargoyles and mythical creatures being attracted to it too.

If I owned that piece, I would have to lock it up. It looks pretty fragile and I would freak out if anyone went near it.

When I first got my Shivan Dragon statue, I was putting it together on the floor and as I was lifting it up to put it on the top shelf, the left wing fell off rolled down my body and across the living room.....I was screaming blood murder, kinda like in the movies when the do the super slow motion.....nnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Anyway, was pretty pi$$ed until I saw there was no damage. Damn thing is still sitting in the box in my closet.....No way in Hell I will glue the wings on.................I have seen it put together once now and that is good enough for me for the time being.........

It's a cool interpretation of Goliath. Disney probably passed because it wasn't a direct version of the cartoon Goliath. Oh well, I guess artist interpretation means nothing nowadays.

I wonder if there is any chance in hell of seeing this piece? Especially since it's the 10th anniversary of the show now.

The piece was only sculpted as a conceptual piece for a Gargoyles CGI style movie that was being pitched. I was commissioned to sculpt Goliath in a more realistic fashion.

The wings were then re-used for the Shivan dragon later.

i believe the gargoyle's animated series came out after the batman animated series they seemed very similar in animation styles, and yes that statue of goliath is very nice, would definetly buy that, would go great with the bowen batman statue. are they similar in size and height.
