I'd have to agree that the wedge shoe needs to go and it turned into a heel. A Heel is a more dangerous weapon to use than a flat wedge sole.

looking back in the books she never actually wore heels, the boots were flat soled - maybe the wedge is a good compromise between book accurate and ability to display leg tone in 3-D sculpt?

Very nice I like the body a lot. Just for a split second I thought her feet were hooves because of the curvy calves, hamstrings and booty. Kind of like horse or donkey legs. But in a good way. :thumbs2:

It's Pop Culture Shock Fremie. It's Jerry Macaluso's company. He's done the Street Fighter 1/4 statues as well as the Darkstalkers 1/4 statues. He worked with Randy Queen recently and did a Darkchylde piece as well. Jerry rocks.

The sculpt looks amazing and I love how she's got the mask in one hand and the sickle in the other, but I gotta say these statues that have cloth and faux fur, etc are definitely not my cup of tea. I think the cheap looking fabrics companies put on them make them look very cheesy. BUT, I won't make my final decision until the final pictures are released.

It sure will be interesting to see how the clothing is done, but I think kabuki is a pretty good character choice for translating into the pf medium. Not too much costuming, but enough to accent it well.

I can't see them making a topless kabuki. I'm sure when it's finished up it'll be the classic costumed kabuki. I think Jerry already mentioned the sneak didn't reflect the costume that will be added in cloth later on.

I guess grailness, it's personal taste. For me I'd pay way more for characters I seriously give a crap about like kabuki. For me it's this kabuki, no hulk, no doom or akuma.

Question for you Kabuki fans

We are just finishing up the paint now and Im wondering if the tattoo on her back should look more like a real tattoo and not a comic book tattoo.

Slightly muted colors showing it isnt brand new.

Moore's seem to be very vivid.

It is fairly vivid, and Moore's is pretty much spot on with how her's is shown. Here is a painting from David Mack

I'd like to maybe see you go realistic on this one -muted colors giving it a realistic look would be neat and set it apart from previous incarnations. I think it would translate well, and as a big time Kabuki fan I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at it.
While its vivid in the artwork, a lot of Mack's art can be difficult to translate to another medium, so yeah I'd vote for the realist look on this one. Especially since in 1/4 there is more size to work with, so i think less need for big time brightness.

its cool seeing these in production pieces...I never imagined so much detail went into what was under the fabrics, I always just assumed anything hidden by cloth just went unpainted or has some generic color.

kinda surprised you're going with vinyl on the costume since its silk based in the books - figured maybe you'd go with something similar to morrigan or cammy on the costume and maybe vinyl on the boots. But hey, you've never dropped the ball or let us down on any of these pieces so whatever you go with I'm confident will be killer! this is a must buy for me no matter what.

Kabuki was never nude in the comic books and she doesn't need to be. I rather have any female statue partial clothed to show more sensuality then a fully nude statue. I gurantee some of the people buying it, will take her clothes off. but not me. This statue is going to look sweet and I can't wait for the release in 4th qtr.

It would be so great if this was popular enough that Jerry was interested in doing a Scarab next! That would be amazing.
I think he is doing super work.

Btw, the only part on Kabuki's costume that is silk is the is the arm billowy arm sleeves. But those aren't on this version of the costume.
In the book those parts get ripped off by the end of the first volume, and the statues have just went with the look without the billowy silk sleeves, and just the arm wraps underneath them.

The rest of the costume is a synthetic protective material. Deflective to most bullets. (although a teflon coated one goes thru her at the end of the first book).
So I think the vinyl is a good choice for this.
I'm very curious to see it.

I like vivid colors, the tattoo on her back is really impressive and make you want to have a mirror in the back to be able to display 360 degrees of this statue. If the fabric you are going to use is vinyl with a really vivid red the tattoo will pop up nicely.
Anyway I am getting this statue no matter the choice of the tattoo.:D
