I just got a new camera (Canon EOS Rebel T1i) and I'm looking for a good memory card. I primarily want something great for stills but I also don't want to roll choppy video.
Currently looking at buying a SanDisk 8GB Extreme SDHC Class 10 - 30 MB/sec Memory Card but wondering if its overkill and if I should just go with a Class 6 card.
Opinions?

I would either call Canon or a professional camera shop and talk to someone with experience to determine what type of card would suit your needs. Also, if you plan to shoot a good amount of video, you might want more than 8gb of storage...or at least a second card. San Disk is offering mail in rebates if you purchase 2 cards before 7/3/10.

Thanks for the advice and link hazmatt. I think I'm going to do just that.

I got the Extreme III 4 GB and filled it up fast. Needing another card, I consulted my local camera shop and they told me to go ahead and get an Ultra 8 GB. I can't tell the difference really and it was a bit cheaper.
Nice choice on the camera, BTW.. I love mine.

Thanks. I can't wait to use it.
I've pretty much decided I want an 8 GB card minimum. Just need to figure out if its worth spending the money for some of the nicer cards and what class would be ideal for my needs.

Sandisk Extreme are overkill (mostly in terms of price). I shoot hi-def video and take lots of photos, haven't noticed a difference. Maybe if I were shooting 1080p at 60 frames a second or shooting a TON of shots in burst mode it would matter, but I don't.
The Sandisk Ultra or the Transcend Class 6 lines should be fine.
