Hi,

I own this statue

http://www.hellblazer.de/images/supes/index.html

since 13(?) years now and I wonder what it might be worth.

I've tried to gather more infos about it but couldn't find anything.

It might not be the most, erh, beautiful thing but it's definitely pretty rare (I think...).

Thanks for your help.

The only info I got was from the 'Superman museum' - AFAIR the guy (who replied) refered to it as the 'Ted Kennedy' Supes-statue. Well...

Anyway. I guess only a handful of these statues were actually made (I doubt they made 42, as the number on mine would indicate) but of course I may be wrong. Maybe there's a huge pile in DCs 'area 51' and they simply forgot about it.
:)

Btw, this thing is massive.

It is a solid pewter statue about 13 inches high or so on a cherry wood base if I remember correctly. I have the same statue but it is upstairs and I am too lazy to walk up there. Yes, it is licensed and yes, it is uncommon. I believe it came out in the early 90's or so. Did it come with anything other than a certificate of authenticity? I have heard there were two versions but no one has been able to tell me the difference between the versions if there is one. Do you have the original box and the cert?

Yes, exactly.

I believe it came out in the early 90's or so.
That's right. I bought it the same year it was released which was in '91 or '92 AFAIR. I think I still have the Previews issue (or was it Advanced?) where it was first introduced. Geez, why do I keep all this stuff...am I a 'messy'?

Do you have the original box and the cert?
No. I know that would have been a 'nice to have', especially if I was going to sell it. But I have neither. Gone for good.
OTOH I doubt that anyone would even think about counterfeiting this statue. Way too much effort, IMHO.

No, thast wasn't me.
Every now and then I think about selling it - but since this statue is an item where Ebay, newsgroups or even Google fails, it's hard to determine a value for it.
About 2 years ago one guy, admittedly a 'hardcore' Supes-collector, offered me $700 for it (without box and certificate).

OK, folks...I made a final attempt today. I still don't believe it since I thought I looked everywhere. Anyway. Here's what I found:

When you are ready to sell let me know I will give you $1000 for it! The statue was made in 1988 for the BIG Superman Celebration in Cleveland Ohio ... I do not know how many were actually made I know at least a 100 were made. The guy at the SuperMuseum should have told you all this...

List it on Ebay! I do a LOT of garage kit build-ups & conversions of Superman pieces for Superman clients and they 'haunt' Ebay looking for rare Superman items. It'll fetch a hefty price there. I just picked up a Superman 'newbie' collector that has more money than the Pope and he's buying everything he can get his hands on as far as Superman statue related items...

Hi folks,

I'm in the process of moving and finally decided to sell my Superman statue (pics: please follow the link of my initial posting). It includes the 'certificate of ownership' but I don't have the original box (never got it - I think...).

Since a couple of guys showed their interest when I started this topic I would rather sell it to someone here before I put it on Ebay.

So - make me an offer I can't refuse. :)
