I recently had a look in the Sticky topic "old tutorials" with these helpful tips and techniques from gore. And I just wonder... what is this straw-like stuff in the first pics? Any idea?

its a fiber from a vegetable.

here in the philippines we call it patola... it is a kind of gourd... it also called loofah.
