I know from previous posts on this forum that many others enjoy watching these old episodes like I do. My 3 ½ year old also likes to watch them (especially the first two discs).

He wanted me to paint him a picture of Spider-man for his room so I decided to do one based on the tv show. It’s quite small, only 5” x 7”, but he likes it. In fact he now wants me to paint more characters. :)

I know there are many great painters of statues/kits on this forum but does anyone paint on canvas or board?

That's fun. I look forward to seeing more, especially in the same style.

I did this 6 x 8 from one his favourite episodes. I went to the store to buy a frame for the 5 x 7 Spider-man, but instead picked up two larger frames that will display three 5 x 7 pictures each so now I’ll have to paint at least five more 5 x 7 paintings.

These are fun. Do a Rhino!

Okay jdh. Rhino's next. It will take me about two days to paint this as I do them in the evening after my son goes to bed (and if there isn't anything on tv).

I like the way you incorporate the TV shape - inspired. They'll look great all together in your son's room.

Actually that's not part of the painting. It's just the black desk pad which I photographed the painting on. No inspiration. :bawling:

My son has requested that I do Scorpion next.

How about Doc Ock???

Just finished Doc Ock. I’m not so happy with how he turned out. The small size and my desire to have each character’s face be in scale didn’t allow me to show as much of his “arms” as I would have liked to. Oh well, I may have to do a larger size, maybe a Doc Ock and Spider-man fight scene.

I decided that Spiderman needed to be surrounded by more than just 5 of his villains, so I went back and bought another picture frame that holds 3 more pictures. When I’m done all 9 paintings, I’ll have Spider-man in the center surrounded by 8 villains.

Well, I think the whole idea is pretty inspirational, even if the TV effect was a happy coincidence!

Doc Ock and (particularly) Rhino look great! I look forward to seeing pics of the full display.

Mysterio! The cartoon always had a unique approach to his dome, after all...

I finally finished painting them this weekend and just framed and hung them up. I’m happy with how they turned out and my son thinks they’re great. I may re-do the Spider-man later or just add “spider-sense” lines around his head (since he is being surrounded by his villains).

....and that's the way they became the Spidey Buuuuunch!!!! (sorry, anytime you put 9 heads in squares that's what pops into my head)
Very Cool! Love those 60's Spider-man toons!

They look fantastic - and I think the Spidey Sense lines will finish off the display perfectly. Bravo.

I'd buy those if they were made.
I like them a lot.
