This will be my first time to NYCC. What is the best way to get to the show from Penn Station? Is it within walking distance or do I need to take a cab or the subway?

Penn Station is 8th Avenue and 33rd I think...the Jacob Javits is around 40th and 11th Avenue, almost the west side highway. A cab would probably be more convenient because walking between avenues (east to west) is a chore - HUGE city blocks.

But you can definitely walk it.

don't take the bus.

its probably a 20 minute stroll. not necessarily through the nicest areas.

If raining - take a cab (if you can find one)

oh, there is no subway that will really get you any closer than Penn Station

Yeah there is. But not if you're coming from out of town. The 1/9 (red line) runs another block west of Penn Station

don't forget the comic con is providing shuttle service to the con as well.

I got one online at their site. If you're staying at one of the host hotel you're fine. If not by looking at this their is a shuttle from penn.

8th avenue btw 30 and 31st street. according to this sheet it's every 20 minutes. starting at 7:30 am to 11:30 am.

It's a long walk, I suggest taking a cab it'll cost about $4, and get there very early. The line to get it in gets very long and it takes forever to get in once the show opens.

I'll be taking the train in from Metuchen NJ.

Just meet up with us at the Tick Tock Dinner across from Penn Station on Friday. It's tradition that we meet there for breakfast then walk over or share cabs over to the CON. :thumbs2:

but where would you take the 1/9 to from Penn Station?

You wouldnt. The 1 train is literally on the same block as Penn Station and wont get you any closer to the Javits Center. Depending on which subway exit you're using to get off the 1 train you could end up in front of Penn Station or behind it.

WW Boston was a fun weekend. Except for the $50 cab ride back to the show from the group dinner, because we missed the last train. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at NYCC in a few weeks.
