Beautiful pictures but I've always gotten the impression that Moscow was a very...i dunno...cold kind of place to visit...and I dont mean the weather. How would you describe your experience, Bulls?

Well it was cold there -5 to -10 but it felt fine in comparison to here at say +1 to +2 because it was a dry cold. The people were very friendly and a pretty good sense of humour. But I may have been at an advantage to most tourists as I was staying with relatives.

The architecture of the old city is stunning but there are alot of ugly apartment blocks with little or no character. This was Stalins instructions to ensure that everyone were at the same level. They have thankfully moved away from that form of thinking and some of the newer architecture is similar to most western societies.

I plan on going back in the summer some time in the future as the temps range between 35-40 so pretty warm.

They are also a pretty active people with outside sports including skating and skiing. The parks are amazing.

How's the food and drink?

I love Russian cuisine, but I only get to have what we have here in Russian Communities like in Brighton Beach. I would love to try it on Russian soil one day! Any insights?

Oh the food is very nice. I ate Russian food every day but there are so many influences including foods from the caucuses like kebabs and lamb and pork dishes. Lots of fish salads, pickled vegetables. One nite we did eat at an Ukrainian restaurant were the food was superb. They have plenty of Japanese, Italian, Greek and French restaurants too but if your visiting a country I always love to try the local cuisine.

Oh the beers are also pretty good even the Russian beers. I prefer them to the standard Heineken or Budweiser. I didn't drink much Vodka although they did have many flavoured varieties including a Pena Colada version which was pretty nice.

Did you try what they call "kids beer" Or "Kvass"? I definitely want to try it, since it is so widely consumed there.

Any Caviar come your way yet? Got to have some of that too! :)

Yeah tried Kvass comes in different flavours. Bit of an acquired taste. Love Caviar but I've had that many times.

Alaska's gorgeous... our first trip up there was on a Princess cruiseship, down the Inside Passage.. stopped off in various port towns and did dog-sledding on a glacier, pontoon-planing around lakes, etc... lots of fun.
Plus, the ship itself is a blast. :)
But Russia's really an experience all its own. Glad to see that you and yours had a good time.
