View Full Version : Making navy beans and ham.

With leftover Easter ham. Can't wait! :buttrock:
1 bag of dry Navy beans
1/2 large white onion chopped
1/2 cup celery leaves
1 clove Garlic minced
1 bay leave
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 ham bone with some ham on it
salt and pepper to taste
6 cups of water
Cook in crock pot on high until it boils then switch to low and cook for 12 hours.

No, it's a slow cooker and dry beans. I bet if I soaked them overnight then I could probably nuke 'em. Wouldn't be the same though.
Even my wife who's a pescetarian says they smell great!

Cblakey1 - We are cut of the same cloth. The last 1/4 of our families' Easter HoneyBake Ham is in the freezer. I'll be making a huge pot of Navy Bean Soup next week. Chicken stock, navy beans, celery, chopped carrots, onion, black pepper & cubed ham.

I know what I'll be having for lunch at work next week. The folks I work with will NOT want to be around me in the afternoon. :laugh:
Protector.. You know you CAN put a little honey in the pot when you cook 'em. It sweetens them up a bit.

Thread's almost 3 days old now, imagine Cblakey1's just being let back into the house around now. My wife's used the "D" word before after I've had that meal.
