Sideshow Collectibles Jabba vs Slave Leia review (http://www.whatsyourobsession.com/sideshow-collectibles-slave-leia-vs-jabba-diorama-review/)

Before I go on with the rest of the review, quick question. What do you guys want to see more of in reviews? I've started taking pictures of how the statues originally looked in their packaging, since that was a useful thread in the SS section, as well as crappy scale comparison pics (since I know no one bought Mighty Muggs, haha). Let me know any suggestions you might have!

The most common complaint I’ve heard about the Star Wars diorama series is that the scale is a bit small for some collectors. On some pieces, like the Anakin vs Asaaj, it seems like a good size due to the impressive base. On others, like the Rancor diorama, it seems a little small especially compared to Sideshow’s LSB line. This Jabba diorama? It does come off as a little undersized. With Jabba being such a huge presence in the movies and the simple flat base, it’s not a surprise.

The construction on this was super simple. Two pieces, Jabba, and Leia. Leia goes into pegs and then you wrap the chains around, which attach magnetically at the back. Check out some of the detail work on Jabba, he looks appropriately gross. Fluid in his nose, dripping out of his mouth, one of his eyes partially closed while he’s choking and his tongue flailing around? It’s awesome. Really nicely shaded too. The base has a solid look to it, brown and worn, properly dirtied up.

I wasn’t sure about the Leia from the product pictures on Sideshow’s website but I’m happy to say that in person, this is the best Leia likeness I’ve seen to date. It’s not perfect and with her having a pretty pissed off expression, this might not be the kind of Leia you’re looking for. But I like angry ladies so it works for me! My shots got a pretty good example of the likeness but it really is best just to see it in person.

The paint on Leia is pretty nice but not perfect. You have to consider her size, sometimes you need to emphasize certain things more at a smaller scale to make them stand out. The shading work on her arm/underarm area and between her breasts would look terrible on a 1/5th or 1/4th scale figure, same with her fingers. On her? Looks pretty good! You have to consider that even at low-res, the picture here is larger than life.

4/5. Jabba looks good and gross, Leia looks badass and has a good likeness, solid paint, it’s a great diorama and definitely one of the best of the Star Wars line. I’ve provided a size comparison (Mighty Muggs are just under 6 inches tall) so you can figure out if it’s large enough for you. I do think it would’ve been far more popular if it were a little larger, even if the price had went up.
