New mac OSX Lion has come out today, and its in the Apple App store for $29.99.

They are no longer selling hard disc OSs now for macs, you just buy it thru their app store and DL it.

Most of the time i always buy new OSX day it comes out but since its in the app store now, im gonna buy a itune card this weekend and purchase it using that.

Seems like they made a ton of improvments, so should see how things work out.

Bit of advice, they are not supporting rosetta anymore. meaning any program you are running on a mac thats Power PC native, it wont work. So if you have old ass programs that were not built for intel computers, they are now dead. Cant complain its old tech from the late 90s, so time to upgrade.

best way to check a program is your System Profiler and check a program that is running under softeware click it and look at what it say next to "Kind".

if it says universal or intel you are ok, but i think if it says PPC etc.. its dead if you install Lion.

Form what I've read the new phones aren't a vast improvement over the 4, it's basically going to be a 4gs type upgrade, so I'll wait for the next major upgrade before jumping on another IPhone.

havnt herd any bad things about lion, but still reading up on installation for some people.

Think some people with old macs are trying to install it and having issues that their macs cant handle it. But thats nothing major if you have a recent mac.

Maybe time to get one of those apple track pads and drop the mouse.

is it true you had to buy snow leopard and couldn't upgrade without it?

not sure about that.

All i know is you cant do a fresh install of Lion. You have to have snow leopard disc and do a fresh install with that then upgrade to lion.

Apple said in a month or so they will be selling a $60 USb flash drive with lion on it at retail stores.

No sense in spending cash on a flash drive when its only $29.99 on the app store.

just checked, and yes you do. So lion doesn't seem such of a good price all of a sudden! it's stupid have to buy the upgrade to SL only to then pay again to upgrade to lion. Rip off. They could easily make it so you just go straight to lion, typical apple money grabbing.

So its $30 for SL and then $30 for Lion.

Or wait for lion on flash drive for $60 and its still cheaper then any version of Windows upgrade.

I had to upgrade my memory to 2 GB as well.

but that only benefits me, as my computer is running faster than it was!

Just for point of reference, with Windows, you couldn't get Windows 7 to work right if you didn't upgrade it to Vista first ... while a direct upgrade from XP to 7 was possible, you didn't have all the functionality of it unless you either bought the FULL version which (at the time) was 3 times the price, or upgraded to Vista first, and then to 7, which would have ended up costing the same as paying like 600 somthing bucks when it first came out for the full version.

So, lets do the math, 2 - 30 dollars upgrades from Apple (total 60 dollars) vs. just 1 from Windows ... just saying ... which is the better bargain?
