Yeah, I've heard about this movie on another message board. It's by the same director who did "Dog Soldiers"

The plot sound VERY similar to "The Cave"

I heard about it, and that I knew no one in the cast but that was about it, and hadn't heard about it for some time now. Until this. Might be a limited release around here.

Saw the preview to this and it looks like it is based of the book of the same name . If it is I'll definitely see this as I thought the book was excellent.

I read a book by that title this summer The Descent by Jeff Long. I wonder if the movie is based on this book? If so I'd definitely watch it as the book was quite good. I'll wait until this is released in the US.

well, without spoilers, its about a group of women who go caving (spelunking? is that the correct term?) - is that what the books about?

Well, the book isn't about a group of women but of course that could be something decided on for the movie. It does initially involve caving which leads to the discovery of a demonic civilization (the hadals) living deep in the earth. This is a very simplistic synopsis but even Satan is involved. It's a great book which could have easily been turned into a multi-volume set and it does build up a great deal of tension. It's interesting because, aside from the title, some of the comments made about the movie are also appropriate to the book. And I still don't know if they are related. Are there any Hadals in the movie? :)

it doesnt go into that sort of detail, could be a coincidence? I saw a film years ago starring robert powell, he went underground and there were all these albinos down there, so the idea has been around before

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. The movie certainly sounds interesting enough to check out, regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with the book.
