I like the regular edition better, as Tyler did some nice revisions (thinker black line, additional text, blood splatter on the building) and i think it looks really good, but i also passed on this one as i don't think i would frame it.

Ya got me. I have no interest in a wood piece myself. Something like that would mostly likely cost north of $300 IMO.

Speculation is this piece might be "True Grit" on wood. Apparently a prototype was sneaked a while ago and its been in the works for a year or so.

I have the Mummy printed on wood and its one of my favorite Mondo pieces. Its just looks amazing printed on wood. I'll definitely be trying for this if it is in fact the laser etched True Grit.

The problem with these posters is that they are releasing too many too often. I would not be surprised if the popularity of these start to slow down. The posters that command the big prices are older releases but I don't see that happening to the current posters in a few years. I like the poster of The Thing but no way am I going to spend $2,000 for it, this form of art is a cool thing but I just can't go and spend that amount of money on something. This True Grit thing looks great but if it's more than $300 I won't buy it but it will. Do most of these Mondo collectors feel the same way I do? Of course not but with $1,000 I can do so much with that instead of getting something to put up on a wall.

Some people are thinking about buying this and expecting it to go up in price like the other steel and wood variants have. I don't see it happening with this one since it's not an extremely popular and well liked movie. I honestly see this one as very dull but most people would disagree with me on that one.

I expect anywhere from 10-15 for sale within the next month, a lot of people don't know that a large amount of Mondo's customers don't care about the posters, they just see an investment either short or long term. A lot of Mondo's customers just don't even bother standing in front of the computer when the stuff goes for sale so they just go on ebay right away, they don't mind paying a little bit extra.

Modern mainstream movie posters have long lacked the artistic aim of their vintage predecessors, and Mondo, an art house collecting different artists takes on pop culture posters, plays a part in changing that. Jon Favreau became a fan after working with Mondo on campaigns for "Iron Man" and had to have the collective on hand for his summer action flick “Cowboys & Aliens”.

In late July, Mondo released the first of four limited edition “Cowboys & Aliens” posters, featuring artists chosen by Favreau. Next week, the last poster will be released in celebration of the “Cowboys & Aliens” Extended Edition on Blu-ray Combo Pack. You can see it right now after the jump.

Let's say this was a Predator wood poster done by Stout, the thing would be at $1,000 right now and rising very quickly. A lot of these sellers don't understand that the amount of posters that get above retail value and grow fast are very small compared to the number of posters that are made. Not every artist has the grabbing power as Stout, Moss, Whalen, Tong, Ansin and now Richards.

WELL, Anything from stout on wood would be flipping for serious cash. Stouts the man. There is alot of Noobs in the Mondo Game. I will say most Mondo prints flip rather easy at a descent profit or money back.

I do think in time the Mondo edition sizes will get bigger and flipping will loose its appeal for most.

Once they start making edition sizes bigger the faster their collectors will leave them. You can up a poster price $10 and people will still pay but once you raise the size of each print run then that pissed people off.

I didn't even try. Just not a fan of TruGrit or flipping.

Although, I'm really liking that new Cowboys n Aliens print. I'll have to watch Cowboys and Aliens this weekend. If I like it I'll try to get that one. It looks really nice!!

I had it in my cart twice and just couldn't pull the trigger.
I liked the movie and like the print better than the others but, I just don't get excited when I look at it and doubt I would have it framed.
So, it's a pass.

With the low ES I am hoping that this movie, and poster, get a new life on home video. I fluked out and hit the site when the picture was first uploaded but a couple seconds before it was available for sale. I got excited, refreshed and bought. Obviously my enthusiasm wasn't warranted as it was not a typical Mondo grail. Worst case I will my Mondo crazy best buddy will get a nice birthday gift next year.

The Alamo Drafthouse’s art house, Mondo, which previously developed its signature prints for movies like Sucker Punch and Cowboys and Aliens, is releasing a series of six posters from artist Kevin Tong based on the tales that inspired the hit series. “Per the creators of Once Upon a Time, the posters are representative of the stories that inspired them to do the show,” the boutique tells EW. The dates of release are as follows:

12/8 – Rapunzel
12/15 – Little Red Cap
12/22 – Sleeping Beauty
12/29 – Snow White
1/5 – Rumpelstiltskin
1/12 – Cinderella

Big difference between seeing the tip of a shark emerging from the depths, which I actually like, as opposed to seeing it's entire body displayed from top to bottom. Different strokes for different folks I suppose but I think there is something to be said for keeping part of its massive body out of frame or obscured. As is it overpowers the other elements of the poster IMO.
