Another great rendition of the B&W batman statue line ,this time through the eyes of Mike Mignola creator of Hellboy , his style is different from the rest so it deserves a place in this statue line by DC, follow the link to see it , you should also check out all the other cool stuff (thanks to nexus for the link )

I like the paint application, very similar to how Mezco has done the Hellboy comic line..

...ugh.........It looks like a piece of carboard put on the B&W base.

If you say it's an actual scuplt, then who am I to say it isn't.

I'd have to see better pics. but for now I'll be passing on it.

Yep got the rest and will have to add this to the collection. Is this going over the orignial four that DC offered? At first I read that it would only be the four but it looks like they are just going to keep it going.

Yes, this prototype looks strangely like a quickly made up cut out showing how the actual statue will look.

If these are pictures of the actual statue, then I think they did an amazing job, because this one looks freaky.

I saw it from the back of the cape to the front of its face. It was a mini-statue in full 3-d with an amazing paint app.It was most definately not a cardboard cut-out. I stood there for a minute staring at it.

To each their own....but I hate it.

Has this version ever even been in a comic? If so, then it has a little credibility being in this line. If not, then DC is opening a can of worms and getting off track IMHO. What's next...Dr. Suess Batman?

I'm in the minority here, but I simply do not like this one at all.

I don't know. I think I'll pass on this one. So far, just the Bolland and Sale ones for me. At first glance, I thought it was a photoshop too. I was dam fooled from the chest area down to the belt, which looked 2 dimensional. lol.

Geez, Mignola hater!

Mike's version has appeared many times from Cosmic Odyssey, to Legends of The Dark Knight, to a Batman/Starman/Hellboy crossover.

Heck, his Batman is featured on the cover of the second Batman Black and White collection; the basis for this statue line.

...now that you mention it I'd like to see a Suess version...

This is the work of Jonathan Matthews....as opposed to JACK matthews who is also under contract with DC.

Jon is AMAAAAAAZING. He does things with Cateline, like no other. The fact that tis fooled a few people into thinking it was 2d art or photoshopped is a testament to his skill.

I saw it unpainted....and then painted...it is ALL sculpted. no tricks here.
Just oodles of talent.
You in on the joke too tony? :)

Thanks for the info D'ohboy. I'm not a Mignola hater...I just hate this version of Batman. I'm glad to see DC sticking with a line for a change...I just wasn't familiar with this B&W version of Batman. No problem with DC adding it to the line as long as it fits the B&W intention...which it does, but I'll pass on it. Glad to see that it does actually belong in this line though.

Mignola's art rules..I looks exactly like a hellboy batman..hehehe..I don't have to see it in person to say that it's amazing..I wonder what other B&W batmans are coming next..I think this one will be my favorite..=)

Just a quick question "who did the sculpting on this..It's awesome.."

After seeing it in person, i just couldn't resist....

Now standing comfortably on my shelf, waiting for it's brothers to come home to.

I'm not sure if i'll pick up the "steriod" batman, but i'll definitly pick up the "2d" version. These things just look awesome, and aren't ridicously high priced. DC, keep it up.

It certainly looks like a Mignola drawing. I've got to see this one in person though as it does look 2 dimensional in pics.

I'm getting reluctant about buying these online though. I have the Risso one and it came with one of the points broken on the glove. The point wasn't in the box and it appears to have been a manufactuaring problem. The broken edge looks like was painted over. Of course the internet shop I bought it from won't respond to emails & DC Direct has been of no help.

Also got the a mini-statue of the Bowen Batman on the Gargoyle from way back when and from ebay it it showed up without a left ear. Per the seller & his pics, the ear was okay when he sent, but again, like the Risso statue, it wasn't in the packaging. Just my luck!

This was a funny thread to read 2+ yrs after the fact LOL.

People dont believe the Mignola is actually a statue. "carboard cutout!" "photoshop!"

Someone calls the a B&W "Steroid Batman"...I'm guessing Bisley.

I was actually searching for pics of the old SGT Rock statue but this came up in the search. :p

They are minis, but a little bigger scale than, and much more impressive than the mini-versions of Jim Lee Batman and Supes. DCD sizes can be confusing.
