Hello everybody, I was contemplating on getting a Canon Rebel T3i and wanted to get some feedback on it from you guys? Is it a good overall camera? Im pretty much a noobie to DSLR but ive ventured out of the Auto mode with nice results when i had the Rebel XTi, unfortunately it was stolen when i moved :( so im looking to get a new one...all ive been taking pictures with is my iphone and well as you all know the pics dont come out too great lol

Yep, the T3i is a really nice camera. I was considering it myself when I was upgrading a while back, got the 60D instead for some of the video features. But for most people, the T3i will take care of all their needs easily.

Thanks Teng :)...does anybody have any pics taken with the stock lens that come with the T3i? I believe its 18-55mm

I bought this camera and was very satisfied with it. This is for mostly beginnners and its is best for videography. It has the tools that you need on it which I still have yet to learn. Brought this at SDCC and other events and give out best shots. I will post pics in a bit with the stock lens. I do want to remind you that I am not a photograper and barely got this camera.

Very nice Nemesis, the stock lens alone looks good, thank you for the pics! Im definitely getting it, this weekend will be fun :) ...do you have any other lens? I was looking at the 50mm and from what ive read its a great sharp lens, only downside is that its build isnt the sturdiest but I'll only be taking pics casually.

Did you use the basic shooting mode or advance?

There is a setting in photobucket that limits the size of the photo that you upload. You need to go in and manually change it to allow larger photos.

Up by your name, click the arrow and choose 'account settings'. Then in the new window, click the 'album settings' tab. Then in that box, choose 'View upload options'. I choose 'best possible quality under 2MB'. Of course by allowing Photobucket to only allow a certain size photo, it saves you the work of having to resize them manually. That's why he is able to go straight off of his SD card, and the photos are still relatively small.

Thanks CF! I tried to do it but it seems like it still has the same size. I also noticed where it says "Best possible quality (while staying 2mb or less) that I have to go pro in order for me to pick that. I will try to upload a new photo. Thanks again

Just be sure to pick the largest size they allow you to pick.

Well here are my thoughts on the Canon T3i. Its a very nice camera, I love the flip-out lcd screen, especially hand when you are recording. It has a lot of features that will reward you if you venture out of the Auto mode although it does take some practice but the good thing is that its digital, so you can shoot countless photos as practice :)...I'd recommend doing a little studying so you can take full advantage of it. The 18-55 IS kit lens is good but not great but since it has Image Stabilization youll get sharper shots if youre shooting handheld, but a tripod is recommended for those long exposure shots. I got the 50mm 1.8 II lens along with it and let me say that its one little awesome lens, very good for portraits and very sharp, especially at 7-11 f-stops :) but it doesnt have Image Stabilizer so its a little more challenging and it doesnt have zoom but its inexpensive compared to other lenses and its a great lens, i highly recommend it! Overall I think the T3i is an awesome camera and im very satisfied with it! My next lens will be the 70-200mm f/4L :)

I wanna recommend this book "Canon EOS Rebel T3i/600D From Snapshots to Great Shots" gives you very good tips and a better understanding of how to use your camera. Unlike the manual which still left me scratching my head lol

Day by day I learn a little more about this camera and the wonderful things it can do. Heres a little pic I took today with the 50mm lens and an external flash with a high shutter speed.

Photobucket greatly reduces the image quality when you upload it
