Does anyone have any pics of the Emma Frost bust that was on display at SDCC? I'd really like to see it (and see what all the fuss is about regarding the glove).

That is mine. Who sculpted this?

It's not clear from this picture but there was something seriously wrong with Emma's right hand on the bust at SDCC. Looked deformed IMO. Perhaps it is the glove she is seductively pulling off but it just didn't look right.

hobbit post your angle of photo. the hand and glove are wrong. This is a very nice bust except for a few tiny things.

1. the glove is being pulled off her finger with her teeth right? in order to do that the fabric would be shaped in a different way at the wrist and finger.
2. in a side view the finger is to long inside the glove. a glove being pulled off by teeth is much flatter before the entrance to the mouth.
3. the hand itself is now elongated and seems almost apeish (is that a word?) in configurement.

4. my kids have these kind of gloves from a wedding and I had my oldest pull it with her teeth and I'm sure of my assesment.

the rest of the piece is top notch for sure. with a tweek around the glove/hand it would be the best emma frost ever.

Unfortunately my picture came out too dark.

Besides from my angle, the only picture I could get was looking up her dress!

The hand does distract, but the rest of the body looks great.

Fantastic sculpt. Wish it was full sized.

Heck, wish it was life sized.

Maybe that's just her glove was too big and loose for her fingers..

Looking forward to getting the whole Astonishing set. Definitely would like to see a WQ to go with BQ (if not, maybe the BQ can be repainted). Hopefully Randy will also do a take on WQ.

Whats wrong with DST's one. No one sculpts the female form better than Clay Moore. Certainly Randy isn't in the same league when it comes to female sculpts.

Ghost

I would say it's more along the lines of being consistent, you know? I think the majority of bust collector's collect Bowen busts, and if Randy did sculpt the WQ it would just fit in nicely with the rest of the line. DST has always made different stuff, though the Astonishing X-Men line is pretty good, I only liked Jean and this one so far. As well as Rocco's Colossus.

G. I agree but Clays Black Cat and White Queen FS will be almost impossible to beat unless Clay does another pose himself. But i have the BQ on her way and i'll pick this one up when it comes out.

thecallahan
07-28-2005, 06:24 PM
I like Clay's WG except for her face, don't think it's that good. I'm sure one of the people who sculpt for Bowen can make a good WQ. Besides, Bowen likes doing the older characters and WQ's one of those. Sure, she's not as old as some but she's a lot older than some of the busts already done by Bowen and crew.

Yeah I agree, his FS stuff fits quite nicely along Bowen's FS line. Bust wise that's a different story :D I love his White Queen and Black Cat FS, and I can't wait till his Liberty Meadows Brandy comes out.

Someone did have a pic of the Astonishing Wolverine bust from the SDCC - it was in the same case as the rest of them, and I thought it looked good.
I'm surprised that DS is getting these done (and my money for that matter) cause I've been getting tired of waiting for RB to do more of the mainline mutants.

Yea that bust does indeed look pretty good. Wish I could see the hand better... it makes me want Bowen to put out a WQ bust/fullsize all the more...

I will have to get :

1) the astonishing x-men line. Its my favorite marvel comic, and I'd rather have these representations than the classic one.

2) I gotta, gotta get that dark phoenix diarama set. That's hot!

No, my wife is pretty cool about the statues. I just have an entire wall of X-Men statues there and I don't like mixing bust and statues together. Think it looks wierd.

I office in two locations, one in a toy company, the other a new electronics company. So I have "extra" statues at my offices. The mini bust line would look good by my printer.

They are great conversation peices when I have agency reps over and give me a "mental vacation" throughout the day.

I have it at home right next to Collossus and Cyclops. It is one of the nicer busts that DST has put out. I would recomend buying one if you like the pictures because it looks even better in person.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about her glove.People have said that the fingers look to thin in the glove that she is taking off and that the glove's fingers look to short. To me, it looks just like a glove that is being pulled off your hand.I can see where her hand is in the glove and I don't think there is anything wrong with the way it looks.
