Don't even talk to me about the Battle Damaged issue...They are so unreasonable when it comes to discussing that...

Wanna BET that the BOBA FETT helmet Wil most definitely be weathered?

So....they can do it...

Their chief excuse was....who would want hundereds of the same trooper walking around (At a convention)....WELL??? Isn't that what happens NOW??? And WILL CONTINUE to happen with these prissy pristine jobs?

BS excuse if you ask me!

Their chief excuse was....who would want hundereds of the same trooper walking around (At a convention)....

What?!!! That's the first I've heard of that "excuse." How incredibly lame. You cares about what happens at a convention when probably less than 5% of MR helms will ever be used for that purpose. I know mine will never be worn out in public. Ughhh. :puke2:

Hey, did anyone get any extra helmets? I am a Hyperspace member but my account is the free one. Not sure if it matters or not but when I tried to buy it today they were all sold out. Also, is this helmet only exclusive at starwarsshop.com? I want a couple if anyone bought tons of these. Let me know, Thanks

Steve Dymzo(sp?) from MR said that at...Hold on...I will try and find it...It was either on the RPF or at one of the last Cons!

He didn't say the part I put in () He said who would want all the same troopers walking around? And then suggested to 'weather' them ourselves!

I absolutely cannot STAND that statement!
Weather them ourselves....One of the head honchos of MR is actually suggesting to customers to VOID their warranty by banging up or altering their expensive prop replica! Smart.

SirTristram
07-30-2005, 10:56 PM
Rest assured that we are listening to what people want.

As Barry pointed out, we did discuss the subject of weathering at length, and we agreed that most people would want it pristine; either to keep it that way or to be able to weather it to their personal tastes. Thus, we are supplying them in "pristine" condition.

This is one part of a piece I recall...from the RPF....But there was more...maybe it was on RebelScum....
I'll keep digging.

Yeah, I remember when he made that comment over at the RPF Sir T; thanks for digging that up. :)

I think MR made a good decision personally. Lets face it, not everyone is going want to have a helmet weathered exactly the same; I know I wouldn't. This will give those that would rather have a uniquly weathered helmet to A) either do it on their own, or B) wait and hope that MR makes a weathered version.

For the record....The ratio between people in forums that I have seen is astonishingly in favor of weathering! :peoples:

That may be true, but it's still not enough to change MR's minds though. The only way it will happen is for those that want a weathered helmet to not buy a pristine one. Show MR that collector's aren't going to bow down and buy what ever they put out whether collector's truly like the finished product or not. If collector's are going to complain about the lack of weathering, but still buy the product, why in the hell should MR change anything. They will sell anyway...right? Collector's need to vote with their wallets because complaining on a forum isn't going to do jack if the product is still selling out. Anyway, that's the way I see it.

I hope that those who would like MR to make a weathered helmet get their wish, but it's not going to happen when the same collectors, who are complaining about the prisitine version, are plopping down cash for a prisitine version. :)

No, no no....This is the same argument they make and it is bogus!
We, I, polp down cash because I am a (Insane, but) passionate collector adn THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE!
I don't want to wait and hope they make a weathered version, therefore I am forced to make a decision on whether or not to buy te clean one.
I also have the curse of being a completist...
And as for not being enough to change their minds....well that goes directly against what they said! ...>That they listen to the boards and collectors adn go with what they want and what the buzz is...Well, it seems to me that more people were buzzing about having weathered versions....AND ALL their marketing and all our memories of these helmets are weathered. They say they make replicas of what we saw yet I NEVEr saw a clean trooper helmet in ROTS...
I harken back to Boba Fett's bucket...
Keeping with their philosophy of letting people weather their own....(And VOIDING the warranty) I guess they'll be making Boba's helm clean too, huh? No. Of course not. That would just be a green Jango helm and people would lose their minds!
Yeah, Yeah Yeah...he was one character and Troopers were plentiful...I say fooey! They just took the easy way out on these...and now they are defending their position. (Not very well, in my opinion)

I think weathered version will come around next year....The outcry was a lot more than they had thought it would be and it gets worse with every clean helmet release. These will be released. at least a few. I am sure of it.
They all the people will cry about not having a real limited exclusive of 750 or 600 or whatever....

Again, please post a link. If MR has made the same arguement, I'd like to see it. I've been following the threads over at the RPF and have not seen Steve give any other explanation regarding the weathering on the Clone helmets other than what you quoted. Steve D. has said exactly why they didn't make the helmets weathered so lets not start any internet fanboy rumors here. People can either accept what MR said and buy the helmets, or not and "hope" future release of a weathered version. Believe it or not, it is that simple. No one is forcing anyone to do anything here.

Like I said, I hope those that want an official licensed weathered Clone helmet get one (I especially hope you get one Sir T.); but, at the same time, I'll stick by my arguement that if these collector's want it too happen, they need to send a stronger message than compaining on forums, yet they're still buying the product. :)

You could always take the helmet and throw it around on the cement a couple of times to "weather" it. ;)

And I harken back to what I said already about buying the product...there is no alternataive...Not Buying is not an option for some of us cursed folk!

Fanboy...What? About the possibility of future weathered versions?
Come on, fanboy? :inquisiti

I certainly hope there WON'T be "casts" of these out. That would be BAD. I would have to dig out my tantalus field projector again...

Anyway...

If these initial variants sell out, we could certainly produce other variants down the line if enough people asked. We have the artwork for pretty-much ALL of them, so we are good there.

We also are certainly aware that other helmets need to be produced and are ALL OVER that. Trust us...

Next year, maybe another Vader helmet could be "revealed"?

Hmmmm...

Mini....The 'Bogus Argument' that I am referring to is the 'weather it yourself' one.

There are posts all over different forums where Steve and Barry defend their decision to NOT weather these by saying you guys can weather them yourselves and doing it yourself would give it that personal flair...

I am saying that they can (officially and without voiding a warranty or inducing cardiac arrest for some poor slob that doesn't know how to customize his $00+ collectibe) do BOTH!
Weathered and Pristine/Clean (Non weathered)...
And I am also stating that after viewing dozens adn dozens of forum responses where people would rather have weathered versions....I am not seeing this large number of people that said they want clean versions....the ratio is always in favor of weather during these debates. Yet they stated that if we DO go ahead adn weather them....that's voids any warranty MR would have provided if the helmet was not tinkered with in any way by the customer!
Here are two threads where B and S speak about this...
http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB27&Number=1118467&Forum=,,All_Forums,,&Words=&Searchpage=1&Limit=25&Main=1110448&Search=true&where=&Name=8899&daterange=&newerval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post1118467 (RebelScum Thread 1)

Sir T., Thanks for digging that up man. :)

I respect MR's decision not to weather these helmets. While there are plenty of collectors out there who would buy a weathered helmet, we gave our input to MR, and, as MR said, most collector's wanted them pristine which is why we got'em that way. :)

I have reservations about those types of pre-paid, fan club memberships where the only perk is you can purchase an item earlier than the regular public. It would seem that it only benefits resellers and not actual collectors.

Reminds me of the crap that goes on in the music business. Where you pay $100 per year to buy premium priced seats before the actual on-sale date(if they're available).

I think these auctions are scams, the helm was up for sale for a few days and all you had to pay was $400 plus $39.99 for the Hyperspace membership if you didn'y have one already. Now a day after it sells out someone buys one on ebay for $800? I think it's bull****, this is just people trying to work up hype on a collectible so they can make a profit on people who see these auctions and say" man I have to have one of those look at what its going for on ebay!"

just wanted to add someone sold a pre-order on ebay for the Spec-Ops helm for around $900 not long after the helm sold-out and now I think I saw an action that ended the other day on this helm and it only made about $100 over retail.

I am going to pass on these. It seems to me like they are cashing in on items that had only a few seconds of screen time. I would like to see them do a classic helmet or Boba Fett's. These new helmets I think are a rip because they only showed up in ONE movie for only a few minutes (if that long). So to me it looks like Master Replicas and Lucas trying to screw us out of more money for a "limited" release on a very small character change. My opinon is RIP-OFF. If they wanted to make something special go back and make some classic items.
