This is a must buy for me. Too bad there is no fabric used. Makes me suspect this is not 1/4 scale which is a tad bit disappointing, but certainly a money saver.

O man, this pumps me up. I am also glad about no fabric.....make mine fully sculpted. Face looks a little fat, but I will reserve judgement for more pictures. ALl we need now is a Shenmue III announcement, but we know that's not happening

The face is accurate to how he looks in the games I would say. I'm fairly confident Ryo was designed to be a sort of flat average looking guy to begin with. That's part of his appeal imo. That and his voice and some of his infamous lines just make him so memorable.

Thanks :P Semi lucky as I of course had to shell out for it ^^ Also unfortunately it broke in 3 places on the way over from France and as I was unable to find someone to fix it in the US I shipped it back to him to fix and again on the return trip it broke once more (only in once place though and was able to fix this one myself). So actually that's some bad luck :/

I do really wish someone would make some SoA statues, I'm likely to comission some more in the future otherwise ^^ I'm glad Shenmue fans are getting a little love though considering they were left in the dark :< SoA's sequel was canned the same :/

Also in case your interested enough I have a few other spiffy SoA custom stuff in my game room and I was actually taking pics of my game room to put up a blog on dtoid and was going to post it here as well under collection corner.

I think it's a bit off as well. Not really in wideness but it's not "long" enough (which would make it a little skinnier). The single pic makes it difficult to tell but imo it should be a big longer.

I really think Sega are sending out feelers for Shenmue 3 by releasing this statue. Hopefully we'll get the date announcements of Shenmue 1 and 2 HD remakes for this year as well.

I'm not so sure >< The number of people that would buy a statue is really a drop in the bucket compared to the number of sales they expect from a new game. Also the majority of fans would easily pass when seeing the price rate of statues.

More likely F4F just sees an opportunity to provide something that will sell enough to make them a profit so they are going for it, and maybe if they're not jaded just yet someone who has the power to make decisions on the selection is picking what he would like to be made :)

Man I don't have enough to do at work today... I'll stop clogging this thread up sorry ;.

I can agree there are many more Sega games I'd like to see (would LOVE a Solo Wing/Blue Dragon from Panzer Dragoon, Joe Musashi, Alex Kidd, Opa-Opa.....you name it, I want it), but Ryo is right up there in my list. Shenmue's still one of my favorite games of all time.

Personally, the sculpt on this statue looks pretty good to me, Ryo always had a pretty round face. Though I've heard a few fans now who feel the face is too "Korean". I guess it's not quite an exact likeness, but I can't wait to see more pics.

I hope to see everyone in this thread on twitter on the 3rd! Maybe our tweetathon is already having a tangible effect...

Exactly. Blaze from Streets of Rage is on my commission list. Someone needs to make a statue of her. Probably not F4F because their Samus isn't that good compared to the Max Factory version. Orta from Panzer Dragoon could be really cool. These would get me excited.

Yeah, the jeans looked crazy. His face seems to be a bit better too, but it could have just been the initial picture that made his head look fatter. Not sure how I feel about the jacket detail, though.

The best news is that this is actually part of a Sega All Stars line, so we could actually end up getting some of the characters we were talking about. Fingers crossed.

Of course I ordered! :buttrock:

And as I guessed, they would have a mirror as a base which is a great feature. The green could have been darker of course, but I'm not complaining, for I will soon have a peice of Shenmue in my home :)

After debating for a few hours, I buckled down and ordered the EX. The price is a bit high, but the sculpt is terrific. I wish he had been 1/5 scale though this scale is also nice and fairly large. I am looking forward to other major Sega characters. After playing the recent Sega All Stars Racer Transformed I have really come to miss a lot of these characters.

I just read the news about the SEGA All Stars line. Right now, I just think F4F has to make Orta from Panzer Dragoon. I think Link & Epona is their best statue and Orta should be something they could really do a good job on.

If anything, a SEGA female character that F4F works on should hopefully get some interest by Japanese figure companies now. So, perhaps we'll get Blaze (Streets of Rage), Sarah (Virtua Fighter), and others soon.

I hope they do the main all stars first. I would hate to see Sarah Byrant make it over Akira Yuki. Also Axel should be the Crazy Taxi statue star but I take it B.D Joe will be instead. I hope Billy Hatcher makes it. I can see him now as a statue, resting one hand on an egg twice as big as him.

Looking at that Sonic All Stars Racing title is depressing if that's the All Stars that F4F is taking the characters from. There is no one on the wiki list that I really want. SEGA made a Ulala statue before. I missed out on it. I don't really need a Ulala statue now I think.

I'd take an Orta, but man would I prefer a Solo Wing form Lagi with Lundi or with Keil. Hell, as long as it was solo wing, I'd take it with Orta on top...he was selectable in that game.

If SEGA was smart they would do HD remasters of Panzer Dragoon 1, 2, and Saga. Even though I still have my original games. Instead they are remaking Castle of Illusion. One of the best 2D games into what seems to be a 2.5D game with bad cinemas and so so graphics. The Ducktales remake is the way to go on this sort of thing.

Anyway, we'll see what else will be released from F4F. I guess some previews will be at SDCC.

I doubt it :/ But if it did that would be awesome :P Though I'm not sure how well F4F would pull it off. Their best statues are the ones that reflect the simplicity and or style of the the games they have done. Realistic faces and such not sure how well would pan out.

I think its safe to say that a Kazuma Kiryu would be inevitable, and awesome. It will sell like hotcakes in Japan

Kazuma would be a great companion piece for Ryo. He will probably be done eventually. I was happy to hear how quickly Ryo sold out too. This line has a lot of potential.

Thanks for the heads up. I had myself on the waitlist and they sent me an email saying it converted. Hopefully it arrives before Christmas because it will be perfect for my brother who was a Shenmue addict - even importing the sequel for the Dreamcast.
