I'm not sure where to post this but I figure this the LOTR spot but this is not Sideshow. I stumbled upon this digging around the net and all I can say is WOW! A 2 ft across custom Balrog. Only 5 or 6 apparently made. I don't know who or how much but if anyone knows please let me know. I would love to get ahold of this. The picture is not very big but I can't blow it up without losing detail.

Comicboy- This looks a LOT like the kit released by Cellar Cast. I have one, and it's identical to the pic. In any case, I'm pretty sure there were quite a few more than 5 made! It's a sweet piece, and you won't be disappointed if you get one. Contact Steve West at stevenwwest@earthlink.net

Rick- Thanks alot for the info. I found the picture somewhere and stated it was made in 2001 and only 5 or 6 were made. So I'll just chalk that up as non-knowing people putting up info. Is it just the head? I can't imagine what the size would be if it were a full body kit. It would be massive! I tried mailing Steve but the email says that it's not a valid address? You said that you have one, did you paint it yet?

Comicboy, I think it is only the head. I had an address for Steve West but the same problem, not valid. I have picked up a few Cellar Cast kits (mainly the Boris Vallejo kits he has done) over the years and can only say that they are great. Steve is a very talented sculptor. That Balrog has to rock.

CB - Steve did release it in 2001 at the Imaginenation show in Vegas. Sorry about the invalid addy...I'll try to track a good one down for you. It's just the head, w/ a little of the flaming mane on top. It would be HUGE if the rest of him was there....prolly about 4-5' tall! The piece is on my wall, but unfortunately it's not painted yet. I intend to do it much like the "fleshy" paint scheme of the Maquette in the "Art of" book. It's a sweet paint job, and would look great on this piece. I'll save the "flame job" for the Neca fig.... :eplus2:

Thanks Rick! Man can he do women or what! His stuff is very cool, I did some research. Zurb is what you have Vampires Kiss? His cave troll is awesome, the skin texture is incredible. If anyone else is wondering check out this Steve West (http://www.iespana.es/sculptorscorner/West.htm) Warning for the weak, there is nudity but it's art so get over it.

CB- Oh yeah, he's definitely a talented bastich!! His Cave Troll bust is incredible, and BIG! I own a lot of his pieces. He's one of my favorite GK sculptors.

Although not by Steve, I have some pics of a soon-to-be-released 20" Cave Troll kit, swinging the chain. Standby for a 12" Gollum holding the Ring (scene from the end of the RotK), and a Fell Beast w/ Morgul Lord w/ a 36" wingspan!!

It's good to be alive.....

Comicboy I have several of the Boris kits including Vampire's Kiss, Amazon's Pet and Leather Jacket (hot). The Vampire's Kiss kit I have was the very limited edition (25) with a Boris Vallejo signed cert. I think he also did the Centerfold kit (another hot babe).

Actually I should say had fr the Vampire's Kiss and Amazon's Pet kits. I worked a trade with a fellow board member this week and I have sent those two kits his way.

Talk to me oh Paint Master. What are these LOTR kits? Are they available to the general public? Any images or links that you can post? I know you had a thing about the wings on the Sideshow Fell Beast and it sounds like that 36" wingspan one is going to take care of that. 36" !!! HOLY S

Help you I can....The kits are being produced by Needful Things and my bud Robb Rotondi, and will be available to the general public soon. I have some pics of the Cave Troll at the house, and will post them here as soon as I get home. I'll post pics of the other pieces as I get them. I'm supposed to paint the table display, and am SO looking forward to that.

Ahhhh yessss....das Fell Beast. 36" will DEFINITELY fill the bill!! Adios Sideshow!!

Forgot to mention the 18" Lurtz in Armor.....

Hmm didnt see Leather Jacket. A 36" wingspan!! I'm dying here. His Vampire and Lucy piece is unreal. The Vampire looks like it's right from the movie.

Fellas,
Here are some shots of the Cave Troll I mentioned earlier, and a screen cap of the Gollum pose that will be a future kit. The Troll will be whipping the chain that was around his neck when he entered Balin's Tomb. Whaddya think??

Rick, thanks for putting up those photos. Damn, that cave troll is amazing. Can't wait to see what you do with it. That's a good choice for gollum.

Zurb - Thanx man. Robb has asked me to do his table display piece, so I'm looking forward to it for sure. They are taking a little artistic license w/ the Gollum piece, as he is going to be standing on a rock surrounded by clear red resin to replicate lava. I intend to light the base to make it look like molten lava.

Should be fun... :)

Awesome Rick. I don't think we can ever get enough of the LOTR and these are going to kick some Morgul Lord a$$. Keep us posted on these. I'm dying to see that Fell Beast. You're gonna be busy, Umm...er...oh..umm... does this mean Cutey's getting bumped? :D

Killer Rick! That thing is gargantuan. Can't wait to see what you do to it. That pose for Gollum is awesome! I hope they get the face right, IMO that's what will make it great. His face says it all. Total abandonment of all things for the precious.

@Zurb - One can NEVAH have too many LotR kits IMHO.

Cutey bumped?! Nahhhh. Cutey is still on track. It will be awhile before the Troll is ready, and I usually have 3-4 paint jobs going on at any given time. No worries. :D

@CB - Total abandonment of all things for the Precious....sounds like me and kits!!!
