Seriously...both my iPhone 4 and my girlfriend's iPhone 4, which we bought the same day at the same store, have now both gotten completely messed up in the same exact way.
It's insane.

I do know there is a auto destruct you can have on if you enter the wrong password...it will delete everything to factory default if you do not enter the correct code...this is in case phone is ever lost or stolen. But can be turned on and off. It usually is set up when you first turn on you phone and activate it for use.
Not sure if this helps you any, but took a shot.
I feel like phones and most electronics these days have an auto destruct set for when the newer models come out so we drop the dollars for the upgrade

Would that be right after the warranty runs out too?

Not sure About Apple, but I had this issue with 2 Bose products...There offer to me?... use the broken item as a coupon for $100 off the newer version...Which by the way was actually priced $100 more than the item that just flatlined.
As you might imagine I will never buy from Bose again.

I hate to sound all conspiracy-theory, but hell, this is just weird. Both our phones are messed up in the same way--not completely broken, but not working right. At the same time.
Seems like a pattern. :soapb:

Did you both update to iOS7? There's your problem. :)
