Hi guys,
a couple of weeks ago I got really lucky and as a result I am now proud to present the Captain Marvel Classic Version (#304/500) as well as the Captain Marvel Genis Vell (#69/345) to you.
As a child I used to read and re-read the comic books starring Captain Marvel which my parents had bought for me and ever since that time Mar-Vell has been one of the most intriguing characters in the Marvel Universe to me.
His uniform, his cool Nega-bands, the fact that he could fly through the infinite void of space at Translight-Speed, his determination and heroism made a lasting impression on me. This became even stronger when Mar-Vell died of cancer in that epic story-arc which took place on Saturn's moon Titan.
His death gave extra meaning to the definition of heroism and the sacrifices heroes are willing to make for the good and benefit of us all.
Being a hero is not about being the biggest and strongest and it also is not about not knowing fear.
No, it's about confronting the odds and your fears and overcoming them; it's about fighting for what it is right even though the price you will have to pay is the highest one there is.
All heroes give some but Mar-Vell gave all and I am happy to see that Marvel has honoured that sacrifice by never resurrecting him.
In life and in death Captain Marvel has had a great impact on the Marvel Universe and for me he is one of the landmark characters in the Marvel Universe even though he has died.
When I had the chance of adding both the Classsic Version as well as the Genis Vell to my collection, I therefore did not need to think twice.
These are two incredible statues with one of the most original bases I have seen in quite some time.
The bases are very well designed and, together with the pose of the body and stretched out arms, really create the illusion of Mar-Vell and Genis Vell flying at topspeed to wherever the Universe needs them to be.
Furthermore the asteroid or moon-like surface on the top of the base adds to the illusion of both characters flying through the almost infinite galaxy.
I am a happy camper with these two giants in my collections and for that I have to thank both GiLaTek (Classic Action version) as well as Robert Green of Mr. Green's Comics (http://stores.ebay.com/mrgreenscollectibles/) (Genis Vell version). Thanks a million guys; you are both aces in my book! :D

Unfortunately the pictures are a bit too dark but I hope you will enjoy them nevertheless.

My verdict
Sculpt: 9 out of 10
What's good: Mar-Vell and Genis Vell look awesome and are masterfully sculpted. The muscle definition, their flying pose, the determination on their faces and the little details such as Genis Vell's blaster and Mar-Vell's Nega Bands make up for a very impressive sculpt. Add to that the very ingenious 'swoosh' which connects Mar-Vell and Genis Vell to the base effectively creating the illusion of them flying at top speed through the cold vacuum of the Universe.
All of this fill me with awe and excitement everytime I look at these statues.
We are looking at a truly top-notch effort of Joseph Menna in all regards!
What could be better: There really is not much to mention here.
If I should mention one point of improvemnet however it would be that I would have liked it if there would have been more differences in the scupts of Mar-Vell and Genis Vell.
The only difference now is that both sculpts are mirrored to each other: the swoosh is at the other side of the base and whereas Mar-Vell's left leg is bent in flight, it is the right leg for Genis Vell.
Other than the pose of Mar-Vell and Genis Vell seems to be exactly the same.
While the sculpts are otherwise outstanding this is not a deal-breaker at all but a bit more variation would have taken to sculpts to a perfect score.
Paint (application): 9 out of 10
What's good: The paintjob on both sculpts is amazing and very solid.
Ranging from the colour of the swooshes to the colours used on the costumes and the skin tones used. it paintjob is very impressive.
Mar'-Vell's uniform has a slight metallic finish which I think looks wonderful.
I love Mar-Vell's uniform but I was really impressed by Genis Vell's black 'galaxy-based' uniform which shows the stars and galaxies of the Universe.
The contrast with the green parts of his uniform and helmet make for a very cool appearance and look.
Besides that Genis Vell's gold-coloured blaster looks truly awesome! :D
What could be better: I would have liked the asteroid, moon-like surface of the bases to be a bit more detailed. As is the bases appear to be of inactive, dead moons or asteroids but it would have been cool to see a bit more details here on the surface like for example some vulcanic activity as in the base of the museum posed Captain Marvel FS or ice.
Base: 9 out of 10
What's good: The base in combination with the swoosh and the sculpted pose of the body effectively creates the illusion of flight.
Besides the metalic bottom of the base reminded me of a space ship which is a thoughtful addition and adds to the illsuion of Mar-Vell and Genis Vell flying through the Universe.
It looks really cool and as a result statue has a very dynamic and action packed look and feel.
You can really imagine Mar-Vell and Genis Vell coming in at full speed in order to fight the danger at hand.
What could be better: As stated above I would have liked it if the moonlike surface of the base would have had a bit more texture and variation.
Accuracy (size comparison, likeness, extras, etc.): 10 out of 10
What's good: This is what Captain Marvel and Genis Vell look like in full action.
The accuracy could not be better and I believe both statues have really caught the essence and heroism of both characters.
What could be better: I really would not have a clue... if you want a great representation of Captain Marvel or Genis Vell in your collection you cannot go wrong with either statue.
They both deliver the goods in spades!
All in all an average score of 9.25 which is a very impressive score for two very impressive statues. Highly Recommended!

Background Information
Captain Marvel has always been a torn between worlds, whether due to the bigotry of his alien homeworld, to his entrapment in the Negative Zone, or to his current realization of the call of duty over the knowledge of his fate.
Throughout it all, however, he has proven over and over again why many consider him to be one of the greatest heroes of all time.
Mar-Vell was a white-skinned minority of the blue-skinned Kree empire, but despite discrimination and prejudice, Mar-Vell became a renowned soldier
and an acclaimed hero for his victories in battle against the Kree's enemies, notably the Skrulls.
Mar-Vell’s regiment, under the command of Yon-Rogg, was given a mission to observe Earth, specifically human’s progress of space travel. Yon-Rogg,
jealous of the love between Mar-Vell and the ship’s medic, Una, ordered Mar-Vell to infiltrate Cape Canaveral, Florida, alone.
He then secretly tried to fire on Mar-Vell’s ship, but killed a human instead-- Dr. Walter Lawson.
Mar-Vell took advantage of resembling Lawson to pose as the doctor and create a secret identity, but Yon-Rogg again secretly tried to kill Mar-Vell by
activating the Kree robot, the Sentry. In his Kree uniform, Mar-Vell publicly defeated the robot, and the onlookers acclaimed him as "Captain Marvel," misinterpreting what the Sentry called him.

Originally, Captain Marvel had no superhuman powers. However, the Kree had
evolved with greater strength than Earth humans in order to combat the heavier gravity of their homeworlds.
Dr. Benjamin Savannah's radiation treatment have altered Mar-Vell's genetic
structure so that he could absorb solar energy and convert it for various uses.
He then relied on the solar power rather than the Nega-Bands for flight, and
would leave a glowing trail behind him.
Solar Energy Metabolics:
ability to metabolize solar energy and convert it for a variety of uses including converting the light of the sun and stars and to a variety of different forms of light and energy.
Flight:
Able to traverse through the infinite void of space at Translight-Speed
(or Faster then-light-speed). When Mar-Vell flies he leaves behind his signature star field.
Photon Energy Blasts:
Powerful enough to destroy stars twice the size of earth
Superhuman Strength:
Super Strength Kree are naturally able to lift 2-3 tons under optimal conditions. However, Captain Marvel's base strength is 15 tons.
This ability increased more with the amount of solar energy he has absorbed.
The max amount he was theorized as being capable of lifting is 75-100 tons
for a short period of time. In saying this no true limit was ever made clear.
Superhuman Durability:
While never stated as an official capability Captain Marvel has taken incredible blows from powerful heroes and villains alike.
Being capable of standing toe to toe with Thanos it can be assumed that Captain Marvel has a degree of durability above that of a normal man.
This durability also extends itself to being capable of surviving in the vacuum of
space for an indefinite amount of time.
Superhuman Agility:
Mar-vell agility, balance, and body coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Reflexes:
Mar-vell reflexes are beyond those of the finest human athlete,which makes it possible for him to dodge gunfire even in point blank range from multiple gunners at the same time.
Cosmic Awareness:
Arguably Captain Marvel's most impressive power is his Cosmic Awareness. This ability allows him to know exactly what he feels he needs to know at any given moment. This could range from what his current location is to discovering an opponents weakness. This power alone made Captain Marvel a force to be reckoned with. It may have been somewhat comparable to Spider-Man's spider-sense and to Mantis's awareness of psychic "vibrations," but its scope was far greater than either.

The natural attributes of the Kree race ; resistance to poison, toxins and disease (Systemic Antidote), and a higher natural strength than a human.
Abilities
Extensive knowledge of the technologically advanced vehicles and devices of
the Kree Empire; Captain Marvel was considered the best solider and warrior in
the Kree Army. Being highly trained and a capable hand-to-hand combatant and
tactician, he was often compared to the likes of Captain America in terms of
ability. Being from a highly advance alien civilization Captain Marvel also had an
extensive knowledge of the highly advanced Kree technology.
Due to Mar-Vell's upbringing in an advanced alien culture, his intelligence is superior to that of humans.
Mar-Vell was capable of matching the most advance thinkers in the Marvel Universe as they made great
calculations in seconds.
On top of that Mar-Vell is skilled in the filed of mathematics, robotics, and mechanics.

They use energies of the Negative Zone and the wielder's own energies. Are capable of interstellar flight. The bearer becomes resistant to many attacks and the vacuum of space as well as no longer requiring food, water, air or sleep.
The bands have considerable ability to manipulate, absorb and project various types of energy, except mystic energies, but to a lesser extent than that of the Quantum Bands.
