Harley Quinn is the next lady from the Dc universe to the the 40s/50s makeover treatment for the Bombshell line and the results are a great if slightly underwhelming piece.

With Harley Quinn being the latest addition to the Bombshell line, and the last one for 2013, she comes with across as a fun rendition of the much loved character yet somehow being an amalgamation of the Supergirl Bombshell before her and the Batgirl Bombshell still to come. Now I admit that I don't know much about 40s/50s pin up girls but I'm fairly sure that they weren't all meant to look like pilots or have an aviation theme to them. Harley wearing an old school captains jacket and flying goggles are an indication of this direction, something which the Supergirl Bombshell already alluded to and the still-to-come Batgirl Bombshell clearly references.

In terms of sculpt Tim Miller has once again done a fantastic job with Harley, bringing in the cheekiness and fun of the character while staying true to the Bombshell theme. Gloves, belt, hair & face, and gun are all wonderfully sculpted and almost no fault can be found with them. Minor details such as a playing card in the stocking or a Batman keychain attached to the gun are details which are greatly appreciated and make it a nice addition to the already wonderful piece. The base is much the same as the rest of the Bombshell range, large, round, and with a metal grate motif it doesn't break any new ground for the line. What is different this time around is that as with the Poison Ivy Bombshell, Harley is already attached to the base and cannot be removed. Once again the only criticism of the base is the sheer size of it in relation to the piece itself, being so large you can only fit about three of the Bombshell into a standard sized Detolf cabinet which means these pieces end up taking up more space than they should. In terms of being accurate to the artwork, well it honestly looks almost nothing like that from Ant Lucia. The original art shows Harley taking a wild ride on a bomb, while the end result of the piece obviously doesn't. Perhaps they decided to no go with that design as it would prove to difficult to mass produce or simply push up the cost too much, but it's a little disappointing at seeing what Harley could have been. While the end result is far from terrible, one can't help but look on in sadness at what could have been, a really crazy and fun piece in the true spirit of Harley Quinn.

Paint application in the Bombshell range has been a bit of a pain since the introduction of the line, I had to go through three boxes before I found a Harley Quinn with acceptable paint and no obvious mistakes. The application on this piece is quite wonderful, much like the Poison Ivy Bombshell piece with great details going into the final product. A gold plated Batman belt buckle, two-toned hair, a Joker insignia on the back of the jacket, and finely painted badges all make for some fine paint work and you never got the feeling that it was rushed or pushed through, with no real blemishes or run overs to speak of. One small gripe which I do have is that the Batman keychain attached to the gun is somewhat of poor quality when it comes to both paint and sculpt. However considering that the little Batman is probably the size of your pinky nail, it doesn't overly detract from the piece and will be hardly noticeable if it the piece is viewed from a distance.

No much else can be said about the playful and cheeky Harley Quinn Bomshell piece, it's expertly sculpted and the paint application is done well considering the DC Collectibles reputation of late. What does put me off slightly about this piece (and to be honest the entire range so far) is that the face is not quite done properly. It's difficult to explain what exactly is wrong with it, if anything, but when compared to the original artwork or even the promotional pictures, it just doesn't look the same. Either the sculpt or paint application is off somehow, maybe the face looks older or fatter than it's supposed to but one does get the feeling that the mouth and smile ended up being not as sharp and detailed as originally envisioned.

Once again this piece will enjoy a love/hate relationship with collectors. Fans of Harley will get her regardless, while those who are purists and prefer the traditional jester jumpsuit will give it a very easy skip.

Sculpt – A job well done even with plenty of minor details and great overall work.
Paint application – Minor hiccups here and there prevent it from being a flawless piece but a great job nonetheless
Base – Identical to the others in the Bombshell range, seen one seen them all.
Accuracy - Disappointingly it doesn't look like the original art which would have been an amazing piece from DC Collectibles.
Value for money - A fair price for a fair piece. This is a far better purchase than any of the other Bombshells to date.

Overall score - 8.5/10

A great addition to the bombshell range and I feel this is my favorite to date. Great sculpt work and paint application while a somewhat disappointing face make Harley the one to own of the Bombshell range!

The small details make this piece worth your while. At first, my favorite was Poison Ivy but at the end, harley takes the cake; even after the original concept was changed.

Great review and fantastic photos once again, Mac! ;)
