Yeah different covers, Best Buy is selling it with a comic, and Circuit City with some lithos. I'm just umm "borrowing" it, and waiting to buy the deluxe once it comes out.

Rodriguez said he was releasing an uber-edition in 4 months so I'm waiting for that one. You'll be able to watch the stories in order if you like. No bare bones release for me.

I didn't realize there were four different covers until after I watched it. I got the one with Brittany Murphy on it. Oh well Alba is sexier but, I will take Murphy.

That's my black pug, Chewie. A friend of mine photochopped the picture so Chewie is now looking at porn on the computer.

Me too, but supposedly it won't contain the theatrical release so I bought this one anyway since I haven't seen the film yet.

Yup. That was my rationale as well. I heard the special edition will have each story in its "entirety" with additional deleted footage, but you won't be able to watch the movie the way it was released in the theater.

From the reports and reviews on IGN you will have the option of watching the theatrical release plus watch the stories separately with their deleted scenes.
This is from the interview I posted with RR that no one seemed to read! :eplus2:
IGN: Has DVD become a director's new best friend?
Rodriguez: Yeah. I mean, I think it's just the way you can perceive how entertainment is viewed, not just for DVDs but future HD DVDs and all of the extra things you can put on them. When I was doing Sin City, you're just very aware that, okay, there's the theatrical release, which is pretty much a one-shot; people go and see it at the theaters for a couple of weeks and then they forget about that, and then whatever comes out later is a more definitive version.
I told Frank [Miller], let's do three stories. I know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but we'll cram three stories together. We'll shoot the full books, but in editing I'll just figure out what stuff we need to cut to make it flow as a feature for the theatrical release so people can sit there and in under two hours see sort of a resemblance what the movie is. But when it goes to DVD, we can do a special edition WHERE THE SECOND DISC can have the stories separated out in the full cuts so that you can see it the way you would read the books. You just watch "The Yellow Bastard," the full cut, or see "The Big Fat Kill," and that's the way you're supposed to read the books.
You're not supposed to read three really quick, so that's going to be cool. So we shot the full books and all of the voiceover knowing that we could put it together as single episodes, and that eventually if we did part two and part three we'd end up having the discs that had all of the stories separated, and you could put them in any order you want.

Interesting Ghost because Harry Knowles site directly contradicts that:
This is the movie and a little behind the scenes edition. And yes, there will be a “Holy Sh*t” edition that comes out – sometime in like November or December – that has fully fleshed out chapters on THE HARD GOODBYE, THE BIG FAT KILL and THAT YELLOW BASTARD. And I bet that edition will have assloads of behind the scenes and interviews and commentaries and Rodriguez’s 10 Minute Sex School or whatever he decides to put on it. But one thing that isn’t going on that edition is… the theatrical release cut of the film. Personally – this is a film that I’m getting not only this release DVD of – but that I’ve already pre-ordered the PSP for. But then, I’m sick in the head – and I know some of you are too.
I bought it based on this. Oh well, I guess we'll see soon enough.

Interesting news. I just based it on what RR said in my last post. It would suck if that was the case, but I doubt RR would say that and have only the special features on the first disc which never happens. It can be like the Legend Special edition. Both versions on 2 discs.

Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=D04D4XT3UQFJFKC4D3J***I?id=pcmcat67700050021&type=category)
Circuit City (http://entertainment.circuitcity.com/Movies/Movie.aspx?v_id=V+++303869&prodid=DIMN4086403DVD&channel=b2c&partner=cc&si=ccnew)
But that one doesn't seem to show the lithos, seems only in the local papers it's advertised.

He said they can do a special edition where the second disc contains the extended versions...he didn't specify that the second disc and the first would come together as a set. If taken literally, the "second" disc could've just referred to it being second in terms of release time. Or he could've just changed his mind. I hope Ghost is right and they are both on the special edition, but I wouldn't count on it. After all, the LOTR special editiion DVD's were 4 discs long and didn't include the theatrical releases.

Good point, I didn't think of it that way either. Second release too. If that's the case I might just pick this one up and get the lithos.
