I just read the first trade of the recent Bendis reboot, which was fun enough that I'll be in for the second trade. I've heard that the Abnett & Lanning run is good, but the first trade ("Legacy") isn't currently in print. It would be awfully weird if Disney/Marvel didn't re-release it soon, though. (Then again, I'm sure Disney doesn't really care about the minimal income they get from selling actual comics/trades.)

(My only experience with Abnett & Lanning comes from reading their recent New Mutants run, which was realllly not very good.)

Ah, thanks bro! that does look kind of cool. There's a very different cool characters in there. A raccoon? This feels like a nice fun team for a comic. I will check out more about them. Guardians of the Galaxy is an old concept from Marvel with a different roster of characters. The reboot from around 2007 re-introduced a lot of older characters with the Annihilation story.

It was a good movie and much better than I anticipated. Glad that Groot translated well to film. In the end I liked Winter Soldier better that this one as it did justice to Captain America better than his previous film appearances.

I think being familiar with the GotG comics and overall Annihilation comics reboot of the Marvel galactic characters didn't help. Ronan the accuser is not a straight up bad guy like we see on the film. The comics also deal with situations in a much grander scale that wouldn't fit on the Marvel cinematic universe.

I also missed characters like Mantis, Phylla, Adam Warlock, Moodragon, Cosmo and proper use of Nova Prime. Not to mention that to really do it justice you would need access to all cosmic characters that belong to other studios like Silver Surfer and Galactus.
