I hope the base just a placeholder because it looks awful. The rest is quite nice though, I like the originality of his interpretation. But it's too impractical with all the exposed skin.

Vallos
06-05-2014, 09:25 PM
Well it is Luis Royo. The base could be a bit better, but i can live with it. It really is not that bad.

Has he ever drawn any other Gotham girls or will this be a one off?

I wonder if there will be an exclusive.

The Yamato Catwoman statues is apparently part of a whole new line labeled “DC Comics Fantasy Figure Gallery Fusion Collection” and will include other female characters from the DC Comics universe. You can expect risque and daring statues in this line if these are to be done in the Luis Royo style.
I'm excited to see more.

There is a comic-con version.

Where did you pull that quote from, EnShinNoi?
http://morethanjustreviews.com/yamato-catwoman-fantasy-figure-gallery-statue-by-luis-royo-in-the-works/

It dates back to July 23rd 2013 and came true so I assume the rest is.

pretty cool.
def inspired by the Michelle Pfeiffer CW from Batman Returns.
but a bit more seductive/S&M-ish

Hmm.
Sensible size. Like the modelling, lovely proportions, but there's too much over her face...

I don't think this will be one for me, as I do much prefer Royo's ideas where he has free rein on his imagination rather than being constrained somewhat to conform with an existing genre.

Richard

I wonder if Yamato would ever consider Royo's Black Flight painting inspired by batgirl.

This is a very well executed statue I think, and one of the things I think Yamato does extremely well is their statues eyes. It's a small thing but it adds so much life to a piece....in my opinion.

Having said that, for me this statue just doesn't stir me in a way I would want. Hey, I love the female form, and this statue is ozzing form through the roof.....but I find these SM pieces leaving me empty when it comes to considering the character of the piece. I like my statues to be convincing within their genre, and to me the Catwoman should be like a Vampire, her sexuality is simply a consequence of her gender, her form the result of the physically demanding activity she engulfs herself.....but her true nature is far from any drive to fulfil a mans basic lust, and to lower your guard around her is to invite death and despair. To me the character needs to call to your desire and imagination while reminding you that this is a woman no man can posses or control.

I don't get that from this piece, all I get is a badly attired female whose body is far to exposed and vulnerable, more like a stage plaything than any serious threat. And so in the final analysis she represents nothing more than an erotic statue..which is a shame, as so much more she could have been.

I have no doubt this statue will sell well :)

She will be in 1:6 scale... I am somewhat relieved. I was considering on a purchase, but I'm on a serious budget so my decision to not purchase this came with relative ease.

Goodness me. That must be their most expensive 1:6 by a margin.

Weta's 1/6 scale statues are $275 so it seems pretty reasonable pricing to me

250 for a 1/6 figure with one outfit and a small stand

seems a little bit high, but it is really well made i think

Way too expensive and way too small. While I think they did a good job on it, this is not Catwoman.

Yeah, after seeing the show pics, she looks more like a mouse to me. The ears are too round.

Just got this today, it's the exclusive version (Purple Outfit). At first I wasn't to sure about it but now that I have it in hand I really like it, it's defiantly different :) ... I'll probably pose her without the tail, looks better IMO. Paint Application is near perfect... Very impressed. Only thing that would of been cool was if they gave you a switch out portrait of her without the mask, now that would of rocked :buttrock:

Harley Quinn looks amazing, but this thing is an abomination. More like Mousewoman than Catwoman. Hopefully, Poison Ivy will be better? I may just stick with Harley though, because this piece ruins the Siren set for me. :(

dechirico7

I wouldn't call it an "abomination." It is actually a very nice piece, except for how they did the ears. I'm not really sure why Yamato sculpted them so rounded. In Luis's artwork they look larger and more feline. Definitely has more of a mouse vibe on the sculpt. But everything else is great.

I am more of a purple (Balent) Catwoman fan, but with this piece, I actually prefer the black. It has more of a Royo vibe, obviously.
