Got in Just Under the Wire on Luke!

I had been procrastinating on placing my preorder for the Sideshow Luke Skywalker statue. I finally placed my order at about 2 am Sunday night and when I checked the site this afternoon, they were gone….

Sideshow predicted the end of this week, but they were gone by Monday afternoon! I feel really lucky that I got in when I did!

So if Gentle Giant comes out with a Luke statue too, will you get that too? I wasn't that impressed with the Luke Sideshow but the Chewbacca was much better IMO.

There is a Sideshow Chewbacca already?? You aren't confusing them with Attakus are you? I prefer the Attakus statue to the GG.


I would say a GG Luke would not be a must buy. It depends on how it looks.

No, I think the hobbit was saying he was impressed with the Gentle Giant Chewbacca over the Sideshow Luke and that if they do a Luke it might be nicer than the Sideshow one. Sideshow has definitely not done a Chewbacca, yet.

Glad you got in at the last minute.

The statue looks fantastic and I think the line will be one for the ages. SideShow does really great stuff (my wife has many of the LOTR mini busts) and at that price-point, the work should be incredible.

But really, really, large - 17"!!!

How / Where will you display this line when they make 8 or 9 of these gigantic things???

I saw the luke at the san diego comic con and It looked nothing like hamil as opposed to the GG luke in stormtrooper gear. The Han solo on the other hand , was a good likeness from sideshow.

Uh, ok. Though we have brought up Darth, Chewie and maybe some others on this thread. I don't think I've seen pictures of any of the Sideshow SW pieces. NBR3 or some of the other guys may have taken some pics of Luke at SDCC.

I'm with Boon on this one. I understand they are reworking the head but it still just looks like a doll to me. I think it's the cloth that throws me. The Han looks kinda cool, they got the pose perfect but I'm still not buying it. Darth and Boba on the otherhand... well I'm waiting to see but those may be must buys. I hope a Yoda comes down the line too.

Personally, I am a big fan of Sideshow. I think their sculpting, particularly on the LotR line has been excellent! I'm putting some faith in them at this point that they will turn out a good product and particularly with the Star Wars band behind them, these will go up in the secondary market.

They certainly won't display on regular book shelves which are 12 - 14" in height.

That's a real shame they are taking orders on such a high priced piece without any kind of picture of what it will look like. I don't know whether to laugh about it or cry. If it looks like the wolverine and goblin they did, I think I will laugh.

I doubt I'd even place an order for Darth Vader without seeing some kind of picture.

i saw the pic of it at the sd con and wasnt impressed...it looks like gis clothes are made out of material and his head looked big....not my taste...ill wait for the gg statues

I don't really know yet. Unfortunately most of my stuff is boxed right now until I build a big house in the (hopefully not TOO far off) future. :D
Definitely not on the floor! Perhaps wall mounted shelves, those can be spaced as needed...

silver, you think so? I'm still not liking the Luke all that much. I'm gonna wait on Darth and Yoda for sure. When my LCS gets in Luke I'll see for myself if I like it enough to buy.

You are lucky to be near a LCS that will get that in stock. Here in Philly, the LCSs are lacking. Only one has statues/busts in a limited amount.
I really miss the Mile High Mega store in Denver - they had multiple copies of everyting that was released so if you got there on a Wednesday afternoon, you could buy right off the shelf! Just like the old days . . .

I have seen the pics. I am not very impressed with the sculpting on the face, it looks sickly or something, somethings not right about it. That said, I do agree that the after-market will soar after Vader and some other pieces come out! I also think the Han Solo looks very cool, from the pics I've seen. I think overall the line is going to be great and Luke will always be the first one! So, I'm still glad I'm getting it. A bunch of statues of that size will look great displayed together! :thumbs2:

luke, i didn't like. Han, i did. These pieces though look a lot better in person than on a pic. sorta like attakus. i never liked their pics but the real thing was out of control. something about sideshow products, they just sell.
