I recently painted over a small chip on the white portion of the shield on the Bowen FS statue. I contact Bowen Studios to finds out the type of paint that was used. The color matches well, but the acrylic paint dries so quickly that I am getting bumps and rough spots. Is this because I am using the wrong type of brush?
I am hesitant to sand it down and restart. Can you sand this smooth and if so what is recommended?

hmm not sure how big this chip is but typically for a small chip i would build up a bit of paint then sand it down a little to ensure you match the thickness of the stock paint. if you think you are seeing brush marks then thin the paint with some water or flo-trol or something. this helps reduce the amount of brush marks you end up with.

Charles is correct. You may want to lightly sand down what you've started and take a small bit of putty and level the surface. Then go ahead and touch up the spot. If you have access to an airbrush, mask off and spray...that will make the retouch area very smooth and the chipped area should disappear.
