I've been thinking of painting/touching up my boba fett. His visor is a matte black, and I was thinking of putting a thin gloss acrylic coat over it. I don't have a ton of model painting experience, done some touchups/ custom paintjobs on koto's and action figures, but I am a bit daunted by this one. I don't want to screw it up. Any tips, suggestions, or should I just leave it the hell alone, it does look good as is. :peoples:

That is an easy thing to do. If using a clear acrylic gloss coat, just be sure to thin the gloss a bit so that you can cover the entire black area in one wet coat. By doing it fast, thin and keeping the area wet you will avoid those unsightly brush marks.

cool, thanks! Worried about the junction of the "T".
The one I picked up is Vallejo I believe, very very thin as it is, but can be thinned even more with water.

Vallejo is a very good quality paint, they brush on nice and smooth. You should have no problem adding a gloss with that.

undefinedhi, this is my first time, on here, well at least sending a question, but like many of us on here, I am leery of adding paint to my collectible bust and statues, not saying I could not do it,if I had the know how, but anyway...I really enjoy the Gentle Giant star wars series, but i have to admit, I would like to have my darth vader's (bust and statue) repainted to match the two toned coloring of his Mask. Now I know the statue is based on the Revenge of the Sith version which is all one black,,but I still like the look of the original over the new one,,any pointers would be appreciated.
