XM STUDIOS DISPLAY BOOTH FOR STGCC 2014!!

Hey, I just thought I would put this up and on here! Maybe this would be a cool spot to post all statues on display at the convention right here...when it starts in September. That way all pics of all characters can be easily accessed, much like we do for the SDCC and SS stuff.

Here are pics of what their display booth might look like. That's quite a bit of display cases for just Marvel 1/4 and 1/6. What do you have planned up your sleeves XM? HMMMM?:itsb:

I feel like a part of the process in the production of the pieces because they take our input positively and use it to make a fantastic product. Haven't had that feeling before unless it was for a commission.

This is my first time even knowing about the STGCC. I know people will take videos of XM. But can you take videos of other statue there also. To see the experience around XM and STGCC. I think it would be fun to go to STGCC. Maybe a bucket list for sometime in the future.

I like the Hulk too. I dont have him, as I didnt want two Hulks. He's not my favorite, so I went with the Hulk that represented my favorite Hulk storyline, Planet Hulk. If not for him, I'd surely have gotten XM's Hulk.

What Thanos has the highest ES of any of them so far eh at 950? Was hoping he would be 500 or lower but oh well don't really care about ES as the looks of statue and cost! Looking forward to this one big time!

So many complained about missing Magneto that XM seems to be upping the ES to accommodate more of the fanbase to give them a chance to acquire one of theses masterpieces. They still won't go over 999 so it's still a very limited collectible.

Upping the ES is never a good move

Normally I would agree but in this case, with the unique challenges and limitations of XM's license, I think it is a good thing. Aside from that at its peak the ES will still be far less than that on one of SSC's pieces. On two of SSC's more conservative ES pieces, the Keaton Batman and new Cap PF, the EX's alone have greater ES' than this.

I've been quietly following Erick's work since I laid eyes on his first flying CR Supes (which I think he'd scraped it soon after) & his sculpting style has always been one of my favourites.

Today I had the honour of chatting with the great man himself at STGCC & to say it was a pleasure is an understatement because not only did he graciously take time out to chat & sign my koto hulk base, he even gifted me his amazing Michael Rooker sculpt. But what really made the meeting memorable was how genuinely he came across as a humble, warm & passionate individual with loads of goodness to boot.

One don't have to like an artist to like his work. In Erick's case, I'm very happy to say the person & his art are both top notch in my books.

Wouldn't that be kind of tough to do? How would XM know what is going to sell like hotcakes beforehand? They can guestimate....but never know for certain.

Let's take the Hawkeye for instance. It seems better to announce a higher ES and see what the market is doing on the Hawkeye. What happens if the Hawkeye is selling less than expected...at a crawl sale wise once they get to 500 - 600 or so? Then they can adjust.

I've never heard of people complaining about decreasing an ES size as opposed to increasing it after it has been announced.

This is all just conjecture on my part.

Let's take the Hawkeye for instance. It seems better to announce a higher ES and see what the market is doing on the Hawkeye. What happens if the Hawkeye is selling less than expected...at a crawl sale wise once they get to 500 - 600 or so? Then they can adjust.

I've never heard of people complaining about decreasing an ES size as opposed to increasing it after it has been announced.

I've been quietly following Erick's work since I laid eyes on his first flying CR Supes (which I think he'd scraped it soon after) & his sculpting style has always been one of my favourites.

Today I had the honour of chatting with the great man himself at STGCC & to say it was a pleasure is an understatement because not only did he graciously take time out to chat & sign my koto hulk base, he even gifted me his amazing Michael Rooker sculpt. But what really made the meeting memorable was how genuinely he came across as a humble, warm & passionate individual with loads of goodness to boot.

One don't have to like an artist to like his work. In Erick's case, I'm very happy to say the person & his art are both top notch in my books.

That's awesome, congrats mate. I can say I've had the misfortune of meeting a few so called heroes of mine and they fell well short of the mark so it's great to hear when someone who has had success like Erick is a good guy to boot. Doesn't surprise me as he's always seemed like he puts a lot into the sculpting community as a whole and also has always been pleasant whenever I've PM'd him.

This statement is huge IMO, it's so opposite of what SideShow Igo said which is basically he doesn't care if collectors investments on SS statues hit the toilet due to extremely high edition sizes. Of course he was using flippers as an example but what I don't think Igo realizes is punish the flippers you punish your whole customer base as their statues devalue due to the flooding of the market. Then again maybe he does and just doesn't give a damn... And that's why my money is shifting to companies like XM...

Thanks for the vids. I wish the back of the base on the Avengers Iron Man was finished. I still hope they consider lights too. But the paint on both the Avengers and Iron Man 3 suits look great. Too bad they didn't have the Pepper sculpt there.

I wondered this too. We were clearly getting a classic Avengers line up with both Hawkeye and Thor being in very outdated costumes. My guess was that Marvel probably said to do the movie Iron Men, as he is their biggest property. Only a guess though.
