September was the original date, then it was moved back to November. Those sites probably still have the old date. I suppose it is possible that GG could surprise us, but I doubt it. I had ordered 2 of these back when the ES was announced at 1500, so I just cancelled the extra one today in case it is actually shipping. There's no way to flip this one with a 5000 ES.

I prefer your "uniform" bases term and I also like them. Danny's checking on the charge to see if the item truly is coming in.

I think it shouldve matched the Dewback, like a forrest base, because thats the line its part of... not the regular statue line. :banghead:

This diorama is really going to stick out. Both the dewback and tauntaun have an environment base whereas this statue has a plain base. Weird thinking on GG's part.

I would have definitely prefered an environment base like the others; but, this may be the standard for their vehicle based dioramas.

I read an interview with someone from GG where they said the black base was so you could look at the underside of the bike from the reflection. Umm.... OhhhKaaaay.

I have the Dewback and I'm getting the TaunTaun, so obviously I would have preferred an Endor forest base, but I'm still excited about this.

To make you even more sick about the base, I just read on RS that someone talked to a GG rep at C3 who said that an Endor base WAS developed, but they went with a black base to show off the bike's detail. :puke2:

They should make a limited run with the Endor base. :buttrock:

Huh. The bike is amazingly detailed, no doubt. But I don't think a simple, mossy, forest-like base would have been too distracting. Still keeping my order though.

I don't see the Dewback and Tauntaun as being the same "series" as the Biker Scout. The Dewback is considerably smaller scale than the Biker Scout as will be the Tauntaun.

Nope, they're in the same scale according to GG. Here's a link that shows they're both in the 7" scale range.

They may be the same size statues but no way same scale. Think back to the movie and the Dewback dwarfed the Stormtrooper riding on its back. The Scout trooper's bike is nowhere near as big as the Dewback.

i just got off the phone with Gentle Giant. waiting for them to call me back because they were in a meeting. as far as ratios go, in the movie, the dewback was not as big compared to the trooper than in the statue.

Now compare that to the Biker Scout with Speeder and tell me they are the same scale. The Biker Scout is standing next to the speeder with his Foot on the bike and he's still a couple of feet higher than the bike. Now GG says both statues are 7" scale and the statues are about the same size. Can't be.

No the two pieces haven't been shown together. But check the Gentle Giant Website, they discuss the sizes.

Danny, I was curious about the sizing myself until I finally searched for some pictures. Now if only GG would release the biker scout statue so we can determine if that statue's in scale with the dewback statue. Then we'll go through the same routine for the tauntaun statue. When will it end? :laugh:
