I was wondering when they planned on making more sorayam figures

The paint apps look really glossy and toy like. This has been my criticism of most of the recent Yamato offerings. I'm also tending to grow bored / disillusioned by Yamato's evolving identity as a manufacturer fixated on SM themes.

Most Sorayama paintings are S&M themed and PVC and patent leather are glossy

I know that the statues are based on the art, and there's nothing "wrong" with that, I'm just giving a personal opinion. There's millions of art pieces that Yamato could draw inspiration from, that they chose SM themes is cleary the creative direction they want to take.

With regards to the glossiness I'm talking about, it's the flesh tones that concern me.

I have the last two sorayama figures and the skin is not glossy maybe it is just the photos
As they say sex sells , what would you like to see them do

I agree, it could be poor photography / lighting causing the glossy effect.

Sex certainly sells, but like beauty, what's defined as sexy is different for each individual.

It's difficult to say what I'd like to see them do, because what's the value in wish-listing? I'm critical of Yamato because they are one of the few companies that has bucked the trend of flooding the statue market with endless renditions of Marvel / DC characters. I give them serious props for that! I also respect that they're now catering (presumably) for a very niche, fetish inspired, market......which is also cool, it's just not for me.

In some ways I agree with Silas Loki. Sorayama is a phenomenal artist, but I am less keen on the direction his art has taken in recent years, and this piece is fairly typical of the milder forms of his recent work. The modelling looks very accomplished, it's just the whole statue I'm not entirely keen on.

Just wish there was more news on Uranos Drops...

Richard

I have not been collecting for a long time, the first item I purchased was Sorayama's Silver Bobbed Replicant , then I found Yamato , I have all the standard figures by Luis & Romulo Royo and the two Sorayama figures , I am happy with them as I am not into the DC / Marvel Figures. I am interested is seeing the Greek god figures they are planning to make.
I would like to see more on Uranos Drop as well.
I guess it must be hard for them to select a painting to turn into a figure with so many to choose from.

Yamato stated that info will be forthcoming and that they are "aiming for a November release."

They are in the midst of a website overhaul, which I'm told, will soon go live. Perhaps this is why they haven't announced it yet.

Good thing that's an optional item to put on the statue, looks odd.

I like how the web exclusive version looks. The colors are much more subtle.

I don't know what somebody's deal is with over applied eye liner at Yamato but man does this look far better without it.

I don't think the modelling of the face is as lovely as the original picture. The eyes are wider open, looking more occidental, and the chin is heavier. Proportionately, the mole next to the mouth is larger than on the picture.

I think the web exclusive statue is the more attractive statue of the two, due to the lack of heavy eye shadow. None the less, I'm not convinced that this statue is quite as nice as most of Yamato's Sorayama offerings. Better than the Vallejo statues, but not as good as the other Sorayama ones.

Richard

Maybe not the same as the original art but I could wake up to the statues face any day.

I wish Yamato stopped making this Sorayama-style stuff and instead focused on L. Royo-style FFG line as well as their new Mythology and DC 1/6 scale lines. Those are much more intricate and appealing to my taste. Just my 2 cents.

I guess when choosing which version to get depends on how close to Sorayama's artwork you want to get. The regular is the way to go if you want more authenticity to the art while the exclusive has more sublte colors and no eye shadow across the eyes.

I first thought I was going for the exclusive but now I am not so sure. I really like the authenticity of the regular a lot. Does anyone now what the ES of the exclusive is going to be? The product page for it says 500 but I think that might be a reprint from the regular version product page.

This piece is very stunning in person. Very beautiful portrait and intricate details. Be careful when taking her out of the packaging because she is VERY FRAGILE. I broke off two spikes setting her up.
