View Full Version : If you could have ONE Age of Apocalypse bust made, who would it be?

I know a lot of people are saying that Age of Apocalypse busts won't be made because short storyline-based busts and statues don't do well, but Age of Apocalypse is arguably the most popular X-Men story in history, as it solidly trounced every other Marvel "big event" in the official Marvel.com poll a few weeks ago.
If there's any storyline strong enough and with amazing enough character designs to sell through a few busts, it's Age of Apocalypse.
Age of Apocalypse busts would give us a chance of having Blink and Morph as they appear in Exiles, as well as the ultra-cool AOA Sunfire or the mainstream Marvel Universe Black Beast!
What AOA Bust would YOU most like to have?

Definatelty add Sabretooth and Wild Child to the list as well! An AOA rendition of Iceman would look great! I think an AOA run would pick up steam and sell out! After all, Falcon has and he isnt exactly a main stream character! Fans of the old Cap and Falcon, and Avengers series scarfed him up, I am sure there are enough AOA fans out there to do so as well, especially if Marvel marketed their release in conjunction with the AOA 10th anniversary!

Nightcrawler is another one definitely worth considering... I think his look in AoA was the coolest its ever been.
Out of the list I'd vote for a Dark Beast, but I would buy quite a few of the AoA characters if they ever were done.

An AOA Sabretooth with Wild Child on his shoulder would look sweet. If a AOA Wolverine was made It should be done like the Captain Marvel mini bust to show one claw and one nub. Colossus would be nice too.

After he got his own title, he died in the last issue. The last issues were actually pretty good too. It was when Marvel hired Warren Ellis to oversee all of the floundering X-books and he gave Nate a cool new direction and everything. I think it was actually written by Steven Grant, but I'm not sure about that...
OH - And I voted for Blink only due to the lack of female characters, but Holocaust was a very close 2nd.

I hate to disagree, but the Dark Phoenix Saga is arguably the most popular (and best) X-Men story in history.

Since there is no Colossus option... It's Sunfire (the most dramatic AOA character).

Due to the lack of a Sabretooth option, I voted for Blink. I think she'd make a great bust. As cool as the Sunfire costume was, I don't know how well it'd translate into a bust given all that fire. Could be cool...but it's not a dead cert.

I would buy AoA busts. Even Amalgam.
AoA
#1 - Weapon X
#2 - Dark Beast
Amalgam
#1 - Dark Claw
#2 - Lobo the Duck
#3 - Wonder Woman
#4 - Spider-Boy
#5 - Super Soldier

Blink gets my vote, bust or statue! A very detailed Dark Beast has to be second.

Blink-a-de-blink-blink.
Then the rest of the exiles.
AOA was just a period so unless there was a Phase IV don't see a real market for these characters. However the character design was good on a lot of them.

Its a toss-up between Sunfire and Blink for me, the two most visually dramatic characters from AoA. I think Blink would be easier to translate to 3D but damn, Sunfire is hot. I voted Sunfire.
AJRodriquez
05-29-2005, 05:42 AM
I would have to agree that Sunfire would be my first choice and Blink would come in second. Both have a distinct look that we haven't seen in any other mini.

Sure, alot of them would look nice, but 10 years down the road who the Hell is gonna know who any of those characters are? AOA was an interesting "Elseworlds" story, but it was by no means the Be All And End All of X-events. If Blink or Morph are still relevant and in use 10 years from now, then fine, go ahead and make them. The rest are just one-shot variants that really shouldn't eat up time on a limited schedule...or knock a more deserving prospect off the list.
Just because a character looks cool, that doesn't mean they ought to be sculpted.

I meant 10 years from this date. Let a character get a good 20 years under their belt before we start talking about making busts or statues...otherwise right now we'd all be trying to unload our Sleepwalker & Darkhawk busts ;).
deaconbluezzz
05-29-2005, 11:10 AM
I will admit though that a bust of either Blink or Morph would be infinately preferable to Bishop...a character who, IMO, arrived on the tail end of the worst trend of comic characters, the mullet-having, trenchcoat-wearing, big-gun-wielding, bad-ass period of the 90's.

I think most busts ought to satisfy at least two of these catagories:
1.) Historical significance.
2.) Visual appeal.
3.) Frequency of appearances.
4.) Number of years the character has been around.
As I said before, it's just my opinion...YMMV.

The 60's are over deacon its time to at least accept some characters that were created 80s and 90s. ;) AOA was a huge success and many younger (and older) fans really like those characters.
Ever since Doop was released as a bust its hard to argue against any Marvel character being busted.

Why do I even bother? Next time I see any AOA threads I'm just gonna console myself with the knowledge that Bowen Designs will never TOUCH these characters, and then allow everyone here to engage in their delusionary bouts of mental masturbation ;)

Since we're only allowed one choice, I picked X-Man, because I really dug the character. But then, I'm a big fan of 'what-if' and alternate-u storylines.
But, if I were honest, I would want Nate, Blink, and Morph. I'd also love a Rogue in her AOA outfit, perhaps holding her infant son. :)
