"Hi everyone here is the new project that we working on . We call is X Men Alliance . They are sold separately and can be pieces together to form a big diorama set.
There are a total of 12 characters and 2 sentinel forming this massive battle scene diorama. With Set A consisting of 6 character and a sentinel and same for set B .They are of 1/6 scale so expect the sentinel to be big at around 1metre( from head to toe).
The first images you can see the line art design for the Set B battle scene.
Here is our first design that is approved colossus VS sentinel. These 2 are sold in a set . Comments and feedback are welcome.
Each character will comes with their own base for individual display and when forming the battle scene they can be placed in it ."

I'm not seeing the "jacket" on a female. Are we talking about the girl on top of the Sentinel?

And not for certain if these are Blue/Gold teams, or current member mash-ups.

So just going on mash-ups, I'm guessing X-23, Colossus, Angel/Archangel, Nightcrawler, Domino, and I'm not sure if the chick with the sword if Majik or Psylocke. If they are doing Psylocke it's an awesome X-Force dio.

It'd be nice to have a new team and old team.

And if this thing is over 5 grand to buy don't you think it has to be super limited. You know how big this is if there are 2 sentinels and 8 or more 1/6 xmen?

Absolutely Brilliant. Who are the characters besides Colossus, Archangel and Nightcrawler? Looks like X-23 but can't tell who the other two are--maybe Gambit and Rogue. Would be great to see Storm, Iceman and Havok.

I'd consider selling my Sideshow dios in favor of this and then augment the characters with Koto Danger Room pieces. I'd also really like a swap-out feather wing Angel (blue/white costume). Somehow I think there will be a Wolverine swap-out with X-23, which would work fine for me. Would be nice to add a couple of "fallen" characters to the base, which would be a great way to get in one or two additional characters like Polaris, who could be beside Havok.

I do think there needs to be some kind of a program where a buyer can get all of the pieces. By that time hopefully I'll have 5 XM pieces registered.

Any Plans for:
1/6 Fantastic Four vs. Dr. Doom (or Super Skrull)
1/6 Avengers vs. Ultron
1/6 Spiderman vs. Sinister Six/Spiderman vs. Symbiotes (preferred)

YESSS!! I sincerely hope that there will be a bigger ES than the 1/4 line. Given the lower price range and scale, presumably the market for this line will be higher in number. I think it makes perfect sense to increase the ES accordingly.
I'm a bit confused about the comment "These two are sold in a set". Could you elaborate? Which two are you referring to?
Also, you mention that each character comes with own base for individual display...so does that mean it will come with two different displays, or do you mean that the individual display will mount onto the others to form part of the overall display?

I was showing the line art of colossus vs sentinel , so it obvious the two sold in a set is colossus abs sentinel.
Not everyone will buy the whole set , so each character will have a base to be display on it own , if you buy he whole set , then you have the option to take your character and put in on the colossus vs sentinel to form the battle scene.

So actually 14 pieces in all.
For the 12 I'd like to see -
1. Cyclops
2. Jean Grey/Phoenix (if it's Phoenix, maybe a swap-out Dark version -- I know it doesn't make sense in context, but so what)
3. Archangel (swap-out blue/white Angel--I'd get two of these)
4. Beast
5. Iceman
6. Havok (fallen Polaris in base as a way to sneak in one of my favorites)
7. Storm
8. X-23
9. Wolverine (Mr. Inevitable)
10. Colossus
11. Nightcrawler
12. Gambit

That of course leaves out Rogue as a main player. As well as Psylocke. Personally I think there are enough Wolverines floating around, but too big of a seller to ignore. My guess would be Havok and/or Beast would end up on the bubble. Of those two I'd bounce Beast only because Havok (and Polaris) are two of my favorite X-Men, but Beast is an original player and more visually interesting. Would be nice to get a list so I can start planning for this monster.

This project will run till 2016 , so collectors have lot of times to save up

Oh wow. If someone only bought Colossus and formed the entire Sentinel, then this would be the most epic showdown for one Piotr Rasputin!

This is an ambitious design and I cannot wait to see it realized. However, the funds required - plus my preexisting 1/6 scale collection - means I'll have to admire these pieces from afar. Of course that might all change when the 3D models start rolling out!

I'm looking forward to seeing the whole dio in its epic 3D glory. I'd put my pre-order and deposit in for the whole shebang right then and there. And then head off and start selling off pieces. Hopefully we're able to see the full piece as a render as opposed to a gradual assembling like a puzzle. I know that's the way most companies would handle it -- teasing and soliciting a new piece every couple of months. The thing that tends to tick me off about the piece-at-a-time is that sometimes some pieces are never released due to low sales or some other reason, or producers will get lazy, sloppy or cheap on later pieces and there are always one or two letdowns. I'd prefer to see the whole vision before making that huge of a commitment. Fortunately XM has proven to be a different type of producer that listens to its customers more than most. They don't have to worry about building anticipation. This would be like "BAM! here ya go". Not to mention I would think the dio will need to be designed and digi-sculpted well in advance because it has to be engineered to assemble. So we'd not only have a final design but final dimensions. Then the only question will be, how many of the characters do you want and where to send the money.

This line seems to be getting a lot more positive feedback then the 1/6 avengers line coming out. I'm excited to see how that line develops as well, but I can see why some are turned off by the more 'cartoony' approach to the art. Hopefully this take the more traditional art approach as in their 1/4 line.

What I'm also curious about is how this will effect everyone's buying decisions. I'm speaking more to the people that have stayed within the 1/4 or 1/6 scale. As someone who owns only 1/6, I'm very close to being swayed to pulling the trigger on my first 1/4 statue....mostly because of how great the XM statues are turning out.
But now that I see this line is coming out, I'm thinking I may let the 1/4 go and just stay within the scale that I already own. If this line is as impressive as their 1/4 line then I'll be a very happy guy.
So how about you? How does this affect your buying decision for next yr? Are you a 1/4 or 1/6 only collector? Planning to make changes to your scale?
Do share :)

Pretty ambitious but darn great concept. Some other company (I can't remember) or someone who wanted to commission had the same concept in mind but didn't materialize.

Anyway, I'm eager to see this progress... would be nice if XM announces who will be in it or what era. Personally tired of the 90s team... Bowen, SS seems everyone has done them. Give me a classic line-up... weren't there 14 X-Men in Giant Size X-Men #1? So how about a bonus 2 characters for everyone who will order both set at once?

Cyclops
Jean Grey
Iceman
Angel
Beast
Polaris
Havok
Storm
Banshee
Wolverine
Nightcrawler
Colossus
Sunfire
Thunderbird

Or better yet, make 3 sets and add in Rogue, Professor X, Kitty and Rachel Summer FTW! and you have the classic team all the way to the Paul Smith era. 3 Sentinels, 18 X-Men.

A fan boy can dream :-)

Do share :)

I only have 1/6th stuff right now (and a mix of 1/8th and 1/7th figures), but will be getting my first 1/4th pieces next year in the form of XM's X-men statues (Mags, Jean, Logan so far...). I have preferred the 1/6th for space constraints and just more in my budget and with the characters I want, but XM is swaying me with the 1/4th stuff.

Anyone else think that Colossus just won't look good on it's own when it's facing a wall of a Sentinel foot? Not sure how anyone would display that.

You could pose it against the wall of your case/shelf, or use it as a bookend. I think it would be fine displayed alone. The ones I would somewhat question would be getting any of the center pieces alone.

X-23 is at the head, yes. I'm talking about the character next to Gambit. I think she's Rogue pulling wires out of the forearm.

It's an interesting assortment of characters. I would guess another Jim Lee era piece, but X-23 throws a wrench in that equation. Very interested to see how XM proceeds with the costumes and if they will add their own flair as they have with the 1/4 scale pieces.

I'm thinking its a must to have Cyclops, Jean, Iceman, Storm, Beast and Wolverine in set B. For something this epic of a battle royal, they have to be there! They just have to!

Then after set A and set B are done, then characters like Havok, Polaris, Psylocke, Banshee, etc can be "switch out" pieces and with standalone bases that match both dio.

I'm not too into 1/5 or 1/6 but you all know this is going to look too epic to pass up even though it's 1:6! Maybe I'll just get sentinel and Collosus first then try to aquire the others and piece then one by one! So to be clear...

1) Will the character design be similar to the 1:6 Avengers Assemble? Meaning, will they look like animated cartoon design? Or like they were ripped off the pages of a comic?

2) Any special features being considered like lighting, Augmented Reality, etc.

No Colossus is a true Colossus without the chrome/metallic finish imho, that' why I can't stand Sideshow's offerings when it comes to Colossus and Iron Man. They can't nail the damned metallic finish properly, it's unsettling.

Judging by that concept pic, when XM Studios said that the sentinel will be about 1 meter, they may actually mean the statue will be 1 meter tall hunched over. It'll be epic considering large 1/6 scale statues are about 15-17 inches with base.

It's going to be:
12 X-men @ $300 + $100 shipping = $4800
2 sentinels @ $700 + $300 shipping = $2000

Grand total $6800 give or take a few 100s.

Pricey? Outrageous. But this is the one to rule them all.

I haven't purchased anything from the other company lately, and it looks like all of my money is going to XM Studios. Creativity, quality control, and giving a darn about their products is why XM is getting my money now. OK, so I'm still going to buy the occasional PCS, but not a completist.

Being from Europe I wouldn't calculate shipping yet, because hopefully XM will have a distributor in place by then. So I am counting on about 2000 euros per set, that is a lot of money but given what you get (in statues and quality) it isn't that expensive. X-23's inclusion does beg for a more modern line-up. And Nightcrawler doesn't belong to the Blue or Gold teams. However, the diorama might simply be an "all-star" line-up of mutant favorites.

I agree with a few that have already mentioned that hiding the pegs/holes where the missing characters are will be key. It'll give collectors the confidence to start with sentinel and not worry about having to have all of them to have a nice set up.

We better be clear about what we define as classic. My classic dates back to the 70s/80s era and I'm only 33. I figured a lot of younger fans associate classic to the Jim Lee era.

Anyway, the choice of characters will make or break this set for me. If they follow a comic themed/era specific team, I'll be more inclined to buy but throwing in random x-characters from different era/timeline, probably not.

My guess is the character designs will come out of the Jim Lee era because in many respects that's what most people are familiar with due to the 90s cartoon (20 years ago). Those designs might be tweaked to feel a little more modern with texturing and accents to the costumes similar to Magneto, and/or slightly toned down colors. That's the approach that would work best for me (I'd take a Jim Lee Cyclops without the bright yellow underoos). The costumes have gone through so many design changes over the years, and everybody has their favorite periods from Kirby... to Adams... to C0ckrum/Byrne... to Jim Lee ... to Joe Madieura... to Frank Quitely... to modern. I'd think they'd want to stick with something that will be somewhat timeless and easily recognizable. You can't please all the people all the time (I probably won't get a swap-out feather wing Angel), so you try to please most of the people some of the time.

Will the sentinel be solid cast? Would weigh over 100lbs.

How about that! That never crossed my mind.

Since this is a different line XM will not have to stick to the caveats of their 1:4 premium collectible line, like solid casts. I don't think I want a 100lb Sentinel. It would be a shipping and display nightmare.

I have faith they will get it right. :praying:

They will be more towards the classic comics . We have yet to work on the cost but I thinking it around $375-$400 sgd (with tax) price range for the individual characters . Colossus with sentinel will definitely cost more. Packaging will be much smaller so shipping cost will also goes down . Will update everyone when the actual pricing is out. We are still working on any extra to come along with the statue .

Thanks for the response! Very comforting answers, yet it brings up a few more questions:

1) Define "classic" because this is classic to me:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4a/ClassicXmen01.jpg/250px-ClassicXmen01.jpg

2) Will the group be random X-Men characters? Or an actually core group from the comics?

Seeing (what looks like) X-23, doesn't seem classic to me….

Great idea, I'm glad to hear it's not anime as well. I'm with the group that want to be able to get a stand alone Sentinel.

Same here, glad it's not anime style like the Avengers 1:6 statues. That would have probably ruined it for me.

Hellsbells51

We better be clear about what we define as classic. My classic dates back to the 70s/80s era and I'm only 33. I figured a lot of younger fans associate classic to the Jim Lee era.

Anyway, the choice of characters will make or break this set for me. If they follow a comic themed/era specific team, I'll be more inclined to buy but throwing in random x-characters from different era/timeline, probably not.

Exactly, "classic" is a general term, but IMO this is how I would break it down:

- 60's & 70's = retro
- 80's = Classic (Classic X-Men/Uncanny X-Men)
- 90's = modern (Jim Lee era)
- 2000's+ = present

Well, something along those lines.

I'm 35, so as a kid the 80's X-Men was what I grew up on…I consider the 90's Jim Lee era "my" X-Men as I collected those comics as a teen so I actually read them and watched the cartoons.

Interesting.....about psylocke, if it's the "classic" version are we talking about the pink costume, British (non-ninja) version or are we dealing with the Jim Lee Asian ninja version that most of us are familiar with?

Also if it's the ninja version, with or without the "classic" armor?

Hi can someone here with good comics knowledge list out the characters (xm and brotherhood ) that we can used for this project . All will be in classic costume .

Off the top of my head

60's - Cyclops , Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), Beast, Angel,
Iceman, Professor X, Havok, Polaris.
Brotherhood - Magneto, Mastermind, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Toad, Blob, Unus the Untouchable.

70's - Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Banshee, Sunfire, Thunderbird, Jean Grey (Phoenix), Angel, Beast, Havok, Polaris, Professor X.

80's - Cyclops. Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Banshee, Jean Grey (Phoenix), Angel, Beast?, Havok, Polaris?, Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), Dazzler, Forge, Longshot, Psylocke, Rogue, Rachel Summers (Phoenix), Jubilee.
Brotherhood - Mystique, Pyro, Blob, Avalanche, Destiny , Rogue.

Early 90's - Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, Beast, Rogue, Jubilee, Psylocke, Storm, Jean Grey, Colossus, Archangel, Iceman, Bishop, Banshee, Forge, Xavier.
Brotherhood - Toad, Blob, Pyro, Phantazia, Sauron.

Of course there is some overlap as the decades begin but I think that's close to covering it

Having said that I would hope that Iceman and Havok might play some part in the diorama even as complimentary pieces after the initial release.

Also will someone like Angel have a variant as Archangel? or will it be created in such away that interchangeable parts will be used ( i.e. Angel in blue costume with both feathered and metallic wings, skin tone and blue tone faces?

I'm pretty much rambling through a rough chronological order of what the (key) members of X-Men are to me. Didn't include Thunderbird and Sunfire as their time was really too short to matter (to me at least)

Prof X
Ice-Man
Angel
Beast
Marvel Girl
Cyclops

Havok
Polaris

Storm
Wolverine
Colossus
Nightcrawler
Banshee
Shadowcat

Dazzler
Longshot

Psylocke
Rogue

well you cant really think like that. (you actually can because it's your company lol) but my point is you need to see what fits the diorama best. especially if you go with a certain era.

even if magneto and cable are there, you should include them if they make the diorama epic and complete. you will most likely have wolverine right? you just made a 1/4 wolvie and are making a brown suit later on. im sure he is part of the dio because he makes it epic.

what i would personally do for it not to affect business profit is release it towards the end of the release. (maybe end of 2016.)

Hi can someone here with good comics knowledge list out the characters (xm and brotherhood ) that we can used for this project . All will be in classic costume .

To be honest I'd lose some interest if Set B ends up being Brotherhood because you'd be bumping a bunch of popular heroes. Not to mention even if you only slotted in a couple of villains, they wouldn't typically fight side-by-side with the X-Men so it would look a bit odd.

If set A and B with the core X-team ends up being as popular as hoped, there's no reason why the line shouldn't continue to expand.

Here's my recommended list:

SET A (I think these are the confirmed characters in the sketch)
Colossus
Nightcrawler
Archangel (please have an Angel swap-out)
Rogue
Gambit
X-23

SET B (probably the most logical lineup)
Cyclops
Jean Grey (or Phoenix)
Storm
Iceman
Beast
Wolverine

EXPANSION PIECES (maybe you can design either bonus add-ons to supplement or a mini dio)
Psylocke
Jubilee
Havok
Polaris
Bishop
Professor X

BROTHERHOOD (could be another all villains dio, not necessarily requiring a sentinel)
Magneto
Mystique
Blob
Toad
Pyro
Avalanche

"Classic" depends on which era you want. I assume that if you are using Gambit, you'd want Rogue in her Jim Lee design. Therefore putting Psylocke in her Jim Lee design would be awesome as well.

The addition of X-23 is really throwing me off on that list since she isn't exactly "classic". Madly popular and relativly new to the X-Men lore -- yes. Classic -- no. Plus do we really need two characters with claws?

Characters I would love to see --

In the Lee style costume:
Jean
Cyclops
Iceman
Jubilee
Bishop
Mystique

In any costume:
Shadowcat/Kitty Pride
Polaris
Juggernaut
Scarlet Witch
Quicksilver

BTW I'm not sure if there will be a diorama of evil vs good, but if it is -- I think it would be a really cool touch, and a HUGE call out to real comic fans if you had Psylocke face off against Sabertooth.

This is one of the questions asked to enter Nerd Heaven. :)

If you're aiming for classic costumes, X-23 takes us out of the classic vibe completely. I don't mind X-23 but she comes much later. I'd substitute Sabretooth with a more classic X-Man (Iceman, Jean) . Both times Sabretooth lived with the X-Men were not standard membership (1st time they tried to rehab him, ended badly, 2nd time he was pretty much their slave until he found the chance to escape them)

currently we have wolverine ,beast , storm , sabretooth, pyslocke, cyclops , angel ,night crawler ,gambit , rogue , x 23 and colossus

Sabretooth actually kind of fits the 90s roster since the X-Men were trying to rehab him at the time, but including him as if he were a full member is still awkward. I'd leave him out.

X-23 just doesn't belong.

I LOVE the Cockrum/Byrne era roster but the 90s team encompasses characters from every major era of X-Men. The originals, the All New X-Men, and later...all the majors except Nigjtcrawler, Kitty and Havok were there. Ultimately it's the best and most well known line up to go with.

Let me get this straight.

Isn't the plan for the first piece of set B to be Colossus and the entire Sentinel and the additional X-men will fit on the Sentinel and come with their own display base for separate display?

Each character will comes with their own base for individual display and when forming the battle scene they can be placed in it ."

http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/3/30174/1785524-blue_gold_x_men.jpg

Yes to this.

No to Sabretooth (99% of the time a villain).

Maybe to X-23 and Nightcrawler (different era and X-team).

Okay, yes to Nightcrawler (because it's freakin' Kurt Wagner).

If these pieces are meant to display individually as well as within the diorama, I'm very excited to see them solo as well. Some nice dynamic poses for Gambit and Nightcrawler.

Why is x23 even in this? I dont associate her with anything classic. Ans Sabretooth was on the team for a split second during the 90s and for a couple seconds during mike carey's run. But the teams didnt look like this during that time so he also looks out of place.

No Jean, no buy.

As for Pyslocke, I would rather prefer her to be 1/4 than 1/6. So given the choice...1/4 plz!

80's Byrne era for me. My favorite time as a x-men fan. But the lineup you guys have suggested is perfect. Replace x-23 and sabertooth with Jean and Bobby and it's good to go.

I've adding my support to this project but in reality I know I simply do not have the space to display this, I would need the area of a good sized coffee table to display a 1:6 scale Sentinel and all 6 characters.

Based on the measurements given, you are going to need more than a good size coffee table. You are going to need the freaking living room!!!

I don't care. If the final product is good, I get it anyways. :buttrock:

Ideally you would have to make 24 figures total. An expansion pack figure would be designed to fit in the diorama instead of one of the main 12. Probably with a similar pose.

Without question the main 12 should be:

1. Cyclops
2. Jean Grey
3. Wolverine
4. Gambit
5. Rogue
6. Beast
7. Colossus
8. Iceman
9. Angel
10. Storm
11. Nightcrawler
12. Shadowcat

Expansion packs posed similar to fit in place of the main 12:

1. Havok (replaces Cyclops)
2. Polaris (replaces Jean Grey)
3. Cable (replaces Wolverine)
4. Longshot (replaces Gambit)
5. Dazzler (replaces Rogue)
6. Sabretooth (replaces Beast)
7. Thunderbird (replaces Colossus)
8. Jubilee (replaces Iceman)
9. Archangel (replaces Angel)
10. Banshee (replaces Storm)
11. Psylocke (replaces Nightcrawler)
12. Bishop (replaces Shadowcat)

Most of us agree on this ...hoping XM does too. Oh, I added Polaris to your expansion packs.

Hope XM does Archangel, I know that Angel is a classic member but I've just never been a fan of him, also there's not much damage Angel can do to a huge Sentinel other than fly around it's head to distract it.

Archangel on the other hand is a bad-ass that can do a lot of damage.

Beyond the Blue and Gold teams, I can certainly see polls being conducted to decide on "expansion characters".

While I wouldn't mind collecting an entire team of X-Force, X-Factor, and Excalibur, I know most collectors would only be interested in 2-3 members of each team (Cable, Domino, Shatterstar, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Havok, Polaris, etc)

That settles it, I am going to have to find a way to get one of these full sets. Probably set B from the looks of it at this juncture. It's gonna be darn expensive but I suspect these will be the definitive X-MEN dios to own. Dare I say even better than Sideshow's grail offering from back in the day. I am really looking forward to more updates from Ben on this line.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well and yes once these are done these will be the definitive x-men Dio to own and yes even better then ss dio and their Dios were always really well done! But this isn't going to see light of day until after 2016, they are going to spend lots of time making sure everything is just right!!! Can't wait to see more about this and pricing too!!

I've already started my set aside fund specifically for these. As soon as things get firmed up a bit in terns of character selection and era I'll probably start selling off nonessential pieces and further build up the kitty. I'm sure once these are shown in final render form folks are going to go absolutely bonkers.

That's fine by me, Sarah. You know the old saying "all good things come to those that wait". :)

I think that applies here plus it gives us time to save up for these.

If they are adding X-23 then this should be Astonishing era right? Same as the Sideshow X-men vs Sentinel Dio, hopefully they can be displayed together, I want to add a few more X-men to my SSC dios and possibly getting the full Sentinel to go with it too.

This looks amazing! What an ambitious undertaking. I applaud XM for their ingenuity. That being said I'll need to see way more before committing to something of this caliber. As a HUGE X-Men fan I will say... I'll likely find a way to own this, if it's realistic both in its pricing and availability.

A friend of mine was at XM headquarters a couple of weeks back and took some photos with the owner. She also took some snaps of statues around the shop...one of which was a 1/6 colossus. I don't know if it was being used for inspiration or if it was a painted proto/wip. I wonder if XM would mind if I posted this. I sent them a PM to ask if they would mind if I shared with the group, but have not heard back...out of respect I do not want to post without some sort of ok from them.

XM TEAM - IF YOU HAPPEN TO SEE THIS FIRST PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU MIND IF I POST THE PIC.
I'm not looking for confirmation if the piece is in fact a working proto, but I think it would give folks something to chat about :)

Great design but I doubt at 1/6 this will cost less then $250.- $300.

I would love to see battle damage to alternate Display.
I would also like some Nimrod pieces added on the bases.
Maybe some light up on Sentinel
My number 1 wish is Gambit which looks to be in.
Other characters I like to see 1. Polaris 2. Dazzler 3. Blink 4. Iceman 5. Domino 6. Havok

They barely made the 1:6 Avengers up to now. This project is still in its early concept phase. 99% that Colossus is a 1:6 Bowen piece or Kotobukiya.

Am I the only one that thinks the head sculpt needs a bit more attitude...? It looks ok, but it reminds me of Erick's Koto version with the clenched teeth. I would love to see more expression on him, like a yelling open-mouthed look. Maybe something like this:
