Wiser words have never been said. I consider myself a G1 purist (In my collection I have every licensed full sized Optimus Prime released) and this is the updated look I've been waiting for. I have the Grim lock and Prime dio PO'd, and I'm very tempted to pick this up.

What I don't get is why Prime 1 is showing off all these pieces with hardly any PO's or shipments of their current PO's. They gonna put them all up at once or something?

Even if they put them up a couple months apart they're kinda screwing themselves. Don't think most people are gonna drop 10k+ in a few months on transformers statues. That's not even including the TMNT line which is apparently coming out soon also.

Who they think are gonna be buying all these?

That is why I'm so excited and yet so afraid of when they show their DC stuff later this year! Seeing all these TMNT and Transformers stuff from them is top notch stuff, but I know I have to limit myself on what to get based on money and limited display space. Anything Harley Quinn is basically up for grabs for me.

Every time I see that Grimlock, I just begin to think of where could I display it....and if only I could afford it. :banghead:
This is basically the Optimus I've been wanting, but truth be told...I'd rather have the one that comes with Grimlock separately. I'd imagine would cost way less and would save on space. If only Prime 1 could make a line of TMNT and DC around that smaller scale.

LoL honestly man I wouldn't.

Give me detail and proper mechanical engineering anyday. It's weird I'm just as nostalgic as the next guy with childhood cartoons, but I just don't appreciate the stuff in statue forum as an adult. I love science and technology and I'm always trying to pick things apart and figure out how they work. So when I look at G1 statues I'm like.....that makes NO sense :confused:

If Prime 1 ever made the ones shown in the newer cartoons called Transformers Prime, then I'd be cool with that. The way they look in those cartoons still pay homage to the original G1 series, but are a lot more streamlined. Not sure if you've ever sat down to watch Transformers Prime, but if you have, they actually look very cool in that cartoon series.

The G1 incarnation of Optimus Prime is impressive as a character, as an example of beautiful simplistic design, as an icon of pop culture history, a childhood fantasy, yes even a relic of nostalgia, and just a cool generic big robot.


Those designs are why everything Transformers since them has ever been made including every TV incarnation and these newer movies. Anything that ever comes from Transformers in the future owes it to the original. That is how powerful those designs are.

Cant confirm it yet,but seems like it.Not sure how they are gonna reveal the second version,but I imagine since the edition size is only 500 for this,they probably want to sell this guy out first before moving on to show version 2.0.Plus its a lot easier to sell high price items if there are only 500 available
