In the Punisher movie a newspaper reports the death of Francis Castle.
I haven't heard the punisher refered to as Francis before always Frank.
Is Francis his real name or was it just done for the movie??

If his given name was originally the Italian form of Frank, or "Francesco", Francis is not technically incorrect even though he usually uses Frank.

Isn't Frank usually a common nickname or shorten version of Francis. I personally don't know anyone born with the name Frank, it's usually Francis or Fransico.
