DS Venom VS BD Venom

Still waiting to see the BD Venom in person, (should see it today), but I like the DS better because it tried something new with Venom, and because it's big and Venom is smashin stuff. :buttrock: :eplus2: :stick:

bd venom no question. love the paint and the base, overall the better imo.

Bowens Venom is best.

The base with Spider man is great.

The Paint job is very good it is black but also has a blue metallic color.

The jaw and teeth on BD's Venom is mucher better than the DS version.

The DS's Jaw and teeth on Venom are too small.

have to say I saw both of these pieces in person and I own the Bowen one, cant get over the claws as feet in the dst piece

DST version is very cool but IMO is completely out matched by BD's Venom. Not even in the same ball park. You know me if I thought the DST version was better I would say it. I'm not Bowennoser.

I am going to go with Bowen. I think the DS version is still awesome b/c it is so massive. Its just something about the mouth that feels off to me.

I suppose it all depends on what you want from a Venom statue really. I'm not a huge fan of the character and haven't bought either, but I've seen them both up close and in person and have to go with the DST version.

Visually, it's much more interesting than the Bowen version, plus I hate the way that to see Spider-man you have to turn it around. Who's going to display this so you can see it from the back? Good idea having him there, but poorly executed IMO.

I just saw the BD Venom and was not impressed. I sware I'm not being a fanboy, I just didnt like it that much. DS Venom all the way baby! :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

Bowen Venom . I don't remember Venom ever being as large as the Hulk, the way Dst portrays him in their sculpt.

My vote goes for the Bowen Designs for a more accurate representation of the comic book Venom. Also something about the glossy paint really works for this statue. Add a great base and nice sculpt and we have a winner. The DST still get some points for artistic impression and sheer size!

By fluke, the pics came out almost in scale with each other. Bowen stands 13-inches while the DST is 12 inches tall but more massive.

I like that the DS piece is a companion to the Clay Moore Spider-Man scene. And to Confessor's point, the tendrils creeping out would be an nice touch.

However, I dislike the egsagerated proportions of the DS piece, especially the talon like feet. I know that style appeals to many people out there, and it is a very good scuplt, I just like more straight forward designs.

The BS sculpt is more like the classic Venom I grew to love/hate back in the early 90's.

I want my statues to look like the character appeared in the comics. I own the Bowen for that reason. Don’t stray from the original and expect me to cough up $140.00 for it. DS got it wrong for all the reasons mentioned (size, feet, teeth, etc.), but don’t forget about the tongue. Bowen’s is dead on and DS is M.I.A.
