Hey peeps! I've updated the PO dates of all upcoming statues (that are greenlighted) Lots of stuff happening in 2015!

Also, with us removing some X-Men statues (Deadpool, Quick Silver, Scarlet Witch and Brown Wolverine), we have reviewed the polls and ideas from the community and excited to announce the 4 replacements will be Punisher, Winter Soldier, Ghost Rider and..... King Pin! (Subject to approvals still)

I wanted to get a thread started for under appreciated character. I'm eager to see the concept art!! :drooling:

I agree that simple is the way to go with Winter Soldier. An AR-15 like in the picture with would work great for him.

A long hair and short hair portrait to represent the bad/good version of him is a must. Perhaps blend the comics and movies by having the long hair version with the goggles/mask and short hair version with the traditional domino mask. XM would also need to have cybernetic arm versions with the red star and the white star with red ring/blue background to represent pre and post brainwashing. All he needs for weapons is a handgun, an AR-15 type rifle and some knives; nice and simple.

A rooftop edge would work as a base; reminiscent of the first confrontation when Cap threw his shield and Winter Soldier caught it.

XM Studios has so much on their plate at the moment with Star Wars, Batman and Marvel Busts that I hope this character doesn't get pushed out of the creation cycle. It seems that this character doesn't rate high on the popularity scale compared to some of the other characters/licenses that are being worked on; and it seems that myself and perhaps a few others on this board show interest or enthusiasm toward this character. Looking at the market the only good looking Winter Soldier statue is the Bowen Designs version (the Hot Toys version is a figure, not a statue). If nothing else XM you could always just do Winter Soldier as part of the 1/6 scale Avengers Assemble line. Smaller statue and edition size would save on costs. After seeing the great sculpt of Black Widow I think XM and H.M.O. should consider going to the Avengers Assemble line; but I am still hold out hope on the 1/4 scale version.

Iron Studios is working on a 1/10 scale Winter Soldier. I'm not sure if XM Studios is aware of them but perhaps it will help with the ideas.

Sorry to say, but the pose doesn't work for me at all. Awkward and vunerable, it really undermines the nature of the character.

Very odd art direction overall, and not what I'd expect from XM. If they stick with this pose, I'm out.

When I think of Winter Soldier, I always think of him as a ghost, so I associate him to a sniper. With that said, I prefer him to be crouching on the ground and aiming with his sniper rife.

Just when I was starting to give up hope on seeing proof of concept, XM finally comes through. :D

I'm not wild about the arms in the air pose either. I get the impression XM is trying to go for the look of him landing onto whatever that is he's perched on. I would hope that we see some options for other arm poses, like the one Lockdown suggested. Another option is to have a 1911 handgun in one hand and a knife facing backwards/downwards in the other. XM could also go with an arm pose similar to the one Bowen Designs uses:

Sheesh, I had to go all the way to page 6 to find the thread for this guy! This Winter Soldier is my #1 most underrated piece of STGCC 2017. It looks ok in pics, and then when I saw it in person I was like "WOW!" The portrait is perfect, the costume is really detailed, and the base looks killer. I honestly loved it. I think when people start getting this in hand they'll be pleasantly surprised. I preferred the gun hands myself, but the knife option is nice too. I'll have a video with the knife arm coming up later.

agree, I like this piece as well and will likely pick it up down the road. There are way too many statues coming out from all these companies so I don't see this one selling aggressively and expect good deals on this once it starts shipping. Likely fall in the same category as Thor, Dr. Strange etc in terms of demand.

No, when the WS was introduced he had long hair. Epting drew him with long hair that was about collar length. Just take a look at the Bowen WS statue. It's sculpted with long hair and Bowen statues are known for being comic accurate.

As a young boy, James Buchanan Barnes lost his father (a soldier during WWII), and was adopted by Camp Lehigh as their mascot, and given the nickname "Bucky". It was here that he learned the identity of Captain America. He underwent rigorous training and was assigned to be Cap's sidekick, accompanying him on many adventures, and the two often worked with the original Invaders.

However, on a final mission against Baron Zemo, Bucky and Cap were both dropped in the North Atlantic, where Cap would later be found and thawed out by the Avengers. One of those rare XM statues that are very underwhelming. I don’t like this piece at all especially the face sculpt. The base is generic. It makes sense why this statue has pretty much zero hype and only 10 pages. I wouldn’t even get this if I could get a bargain of $500. I like almost every XM statue that has come out thus far but this one missed the mark for me

Personnally i found it very cool..Especially with the knife combat pose. The base doesn't bother me at all. I must say i was for big base but now ...i'd like to save some space..so huge base aren't what i'm looking for anymore. This statue is very monochrome , i think they should have done another head with long hair floating in the wind to add more movement..like it was on the render i think

So since the concept art had long hair but the statue doesn't I would guess the long hair portrait was not approved. "I love it!! The details and texturing throughout the suit, the knee pads, the pants even the vest he has on has its own texture!!

The base paint app is really kool, I wish I knew what it was but it really looks like different metals with scratches, dents and what looks to be bullet holes all over. The paint is littlel to dark though and it kind of blends in with Winter soldier a bit, but still very nice. Maybe looking at it a few days more I'll appreciate it more.

The wrinkles in his boots from him leaning forward look accurate as ---- and the laces are awesome. The portait overall is well done, the paint app, the 5 o'clock shadow and his muscular jawline give you the Lee Bermejo style Winter Soldier. The wrinkles above the his eye brows are realistic. XM Studios Premium Collectibles did a spectacular job!

If you're interested you should get it. The lip color is not an issue at all for me and I don't even notice it unless I'm inches away from the piece.

Well, if you can't find an AOU Cap there's always the Civil War version and if you can't get that one there's always a chance Iron Studios will do another one for the next Avengers movie. He's clean shaven in the trailers so it wouldn't surprise me to see them use that same head sculpt a 3rd time.:D
