Spider-Man 3 secrets revealed!
Posted on Thr, 8-Sep-2005

Many have been speculating/guessing/assuming what characters Topher Grace and Thomas Haden Church are playing in "Spider-Man 3". Most recently, the majority agreed that one - or possibly both, which would make sense? - will be donning the name-tag 'Chameleon'. Not so, says Freeze Dried Movies (http://www.freezedriedmovies.com/news/index.php?Action=Full&NewsID=3355), who have got to the bottom of the 'which villains are they playing?' conundrum.

According to the site, Grace will play the character of 'Venom', and Haden Church will be playing 'Sandman'. Done. Finished. All-Clear. The puzzle be solved, y'hear?

In addition, there's a third villain in the film. James Franco, who plays in the previous films, transforms into Hobgoblin (not the Green Goblin II, as he was in the comics) sometime in the next instalment.

Thanks to 'Brad'

Tophere Grace as Venom.BAH! Another actor put to play the character wrong.

Why the hell do we need multiple villains for a spidey film? Each of those characters could carry their own film.

Because this may as well be the Last spiderman movie so they are going all out.

And why Topher Grace as Venom. :confused2

Don't agree. Sandman is a thug. Not necessarily that intelligent a character that would have a good backdrop story to make the whole movie interesting IMO. I think the Sandman would be a good 10-15 min introductory to Spidey 3. Good special effects in a fight, Spidey defeats him, and then off to the rest of the movie with a good plot and nasty villian.

Ok Guys, hear me out. I think Topher as Venom COULD work. I'm thinking they are changing the character a bit, and since Venom in essense is a "bad" version of Spider-Man they probably will focus on: "what if a dorky guy got superpowers, but he didn't have a person to guide him (uncle Ben)?" Topher will be playing a Spider-Man who abuses his superpowers. I think with that angle, it could work.

Yeah, but in general, Eddie Brock IS a pretty boring character. His conflict with the Symbiote is pretty interesting, but as a character, Brock was boring, he just seemed like he was on 'Roid Rage 24/7!! This way, by making the Venom host a GEEK, there could be a nice comparison/contrast with that OTHER Geek who has powers (Peter Parker).

Visually, Topher doesn't suit the part, but I'm curious to see how they handle it. If they do make him the "Mirrored image" of Peter/Spidey, then I think it would work. Venom doesn't have to be a super bulked up guy in the film for it to work.

This is not the last spider man movie.

The group at sony already have a total of 3 more for a total of 6 spider man moives already being made.

After the 3rd movie, the whole cast will be swaped out so no toby or Kirsten for the parts.

I think the reason they started putting more than one villain in "Super Hero" films is because of "Batman Returns." Which is Ironic, since there was only ONE villain in that film, The Penguin. Catwoman was kind of "in-between" but everyone called her a "Villain."

This could work as long as they use CGI to make Venom and not have Topher in a black spiderman costume. I did read that he was trying to bulk up for this role. Tobey did it why cant he???

Of course I would have liked to see someone else in the role, perhaps Chris Masters from the WWE...

What the hell is Sam Raimi doing? He's busy making the 3rd "sure to be a hit" massive Spiderman blockbuster. I surely trust his judgement on how to make a movie and who to cast in the roles more than a bunch of comic geeks on a statue forum.:banghead:

I know, I know - if I don't like it, don't read it....ignore it/don't post.

Anyway, here we go again.
This is JMO, which I'm sure every one else is only stating theirs.

I'm just tired of movies being put down before they are seen. Now before a preview is shown.

Set down the comics. It's a movie. It's a different medium. Comics and novels usually don't transfer to the big screen well.

Remember, we've had a tall Wolverine, no webshooters, Rogue without flight and strenghth, etc. So, now an average size guy playing Eddie Brock. Remember, the bulk of Venom is the Symbiote.

Marvel and Hollywood is out to make $$$$$. It doesn't matter what a bunch of comic guys think. We're a small percentage of the movie going audiance.

How about trying this. Put down the comics, back away from the computer, close your month, sit back and enjoy a film for a change.

Just a thought. :)
