Since news is dry, I thought I'd bring up the possibilities for statue design.

For starters..

Ludwig the Accursed & Ludwig the Holy Blade

I'm not sure how you would make a switch out between the two, I assume that only one would be picked. I'd imagine it would be Ludwig the Holy Blade.

I found this artwork on ArtStation by Edward Delandre that gives a clean perspective of Ludwig. When I look at him this way, I suppose it would be possible to switch forms in a statue.

The most interesting thing for me is how the Holy Blade would be replicated.

Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower

Lot of possibilities here, especially if the clothing is non-sculpted. There's the trick weapon switch-out options for Rakuyo's Twin-Blade & dual wield modes. There's also the possible option of a sheathed mode like in the promotion art.

I could also see an option to change out her clothing to resemble another certain character..:dork:

Hoping for switch out weapons too. I would so dig having the ax and Evelyn too. But I understand there are so many different accoutrements in the game that making everyone perfectly happy will be impossible. I'll take what I can get.

Why?

Sure, it doesn't pack a punch like the other starter weapons but it's faster and served its purpose until I got one of the unique weapons. It worked out for me fine and suited the build I was going for.

You should try out the Amygdalan Arm if you haven't already. It is one of my favorite weapons and is kinda like a strength build equivalent to the Cane

I love its transformed attacks.

Marvel and DC, as well as Star Wars, are the cash cows right now! Acquiring licences to make product around those IPs equates to a growth model for most collectibles companies, and they will squeeze every last drop out of it!

Personally, I hate this, monopoly, of the collectibles industry, and I think stagnation is just round the corner. I'd like to see smaller companies making high value, high quality, limited runs of characters from a more diverse background, from a wider pool of IPs.

I think a lot of companies are focusing on Comic book characters, some of these are 50+ years old, and were created for a different generation! These companies need to realise that computer games are this generations "comic", and iconic computer game characters should receive a fair amount of focus.

If they are willing to do creatures out of scale though it opens up so many options. The grotesque detailed designs of Bloodborne enemies like Ludwig just beg for highly detailed high quality large statues.

For people interested in Sony game prints, my advice would be to wait. You can usually get them on sale for up to 50% off. I have ordered a few in the past and I just wasn't impressed with the print quality at all. They use 100 lb paper so the problem wasn't so much the paper as it was the inks. Mine had muddy blacks and the colors just weren't as vibrant as I was expecting.

Ludwig would be epic, but he would have to be done at a very small scale to work. I suppose if they designed him to be very curled in they might be able to do him in 1/4, but it's hard to say.

Very impressive but I also have to mention that the details on the Hunter are very similar to the Gecco version albeit it's a different armor set. This is a better size especially for a diorama but one can't deny how much detail Gecco was able to squeeze into a 1/6th version. Will probably get both. Any idea on pricing? around $800-1k each I'm guessing.

Am I the only one that wished there wasn't a dead body with the hunter statue? I mean the detail is top notch, but the dead body throws it off for me. I mean having it displayed in my home for years etc. I was looking forward to this for over a year now I am not so sure.

Yeah, it's really unbelievable. So many ornate details and it's just extremely elegant. You could put it in your living room or office and it wouldn't look out of place.

You rarely see that in statues because faces are important in identifying characters, and what most statues aim to do is capture a whole bunch of abstract concepts about a character into one piece, as opposed to capturing a moment like a painting would. Collectible statues are about iconography and symbolism more than they are telling a story or creating an atmosphere or feeling. This is aided by the fact that she's in a chair (ornate as it is), not a throne, with fairly mundane objects around her. It sets a scene. You don't need to know or ask who that is sitting in the chair because it tells a story of its own.

Since this is a videogame statue, and especially with Bloodborne, some characters don't have a name or many lines because the character is supposed to be anyone, or "you". I feel like since the face his hidden, it also plays off that a little bit as well.

I said it before a few times, but my only gripe with this piece is the dead body. I would rather that was not in the statue since I would want to display this near my TV where my little daughter frequents. If I get the statue I would have to hide it upstairs somewhere.

The statue of the Lady is amazing, and yes I agree with the poster above me, there are definitely many more important characters and interesting designs to choose from in the game. However the Lady statue does look well done and of a very high quality.

Maybe ill wait to see if Prime One does a MOON PRESENCE statue, then I will make that my definitive Bloodborne statue.

It seems clear that she took part of killing the those who resided at the Fishing Hamlet, since she threw away her own weapon, and eventually took her own life as a tragic result. The actions of those who participated doomed quite a number of people, Ludwig included.

Her death had a clear effect on Gehrman, as even he seems to have a guilt for his past actions (or sins rather).

What's interesting about the connection between The Doll and Maria is that it seems to be more than just appearance. After defeating Maria, The Doll's comment: "Good hunter. This may sound strange, but... Have I somehow changed? Moments ago, from some place, perhaps deep within, I sensed a liberation from heavy shackles. Not that I would know... How passing strange..." has some odd implications to it. It almost seems as if the two are actually the same (or Maria's soul is present?)

Overall though, Bloodborne feels like one of those games where nearly everyone has a big importance in some way. Even the generic town folk. :laugh:

See i'm the opposite of you guys, the Hunter statue represents the game as a whole for me ( a game i've beaten 5 times ) the dingy streets, the broken street lights, the blood soaked body at your feet.

I just hope it comes with switch outs.

Lady Maria does nothing for me at all, she was a generic hunter and forgettable boss in the DLC for me...nothing more and while the statue is done really well.....it just doesn't excite me...

But hey were all different lol.

Feeling the same. I'll get the Hunter for sure. This piece represents the whole game to me.

And many times, people just decide to get something else that has caught their attention. I know that I've done that; sometimes newer items come out that I want far more than something I already had pre-ordered and so I opt to get what I really want.

Isn't there also a possibility that PRIME 1 may increase Sideshow's stock allocation on this piece? I believe that has happened with some Prime 1 pieces in the past and then there is a batch of waitlist conversions (but I'm not certain if that was the cause or not).

If the production piece turns out like the proto, its going to be one epic statue. For the moment i've held off ordering, as there are other statues i 'possibly' want :)

The Ex is a very small bonus, so likely not a big deal just going for the regular. I jumped on the waitlist and will likely let it convert if it does - I was on the fence before, but I've gotten into the game recently and would like to get both Prime 1 statues (as long as the Hunter isn't too expensive).

I don't know if you can trust the weights they list. I had a return label that listed my catwoman pf as being 30 lbs. When ups actually weighed it, it was only 20.

It's hard to say. I've been on the waitlist since the morning of March 10th and haven't converted.

The way P1 has been pumping out the pre-orders I'd say the Hunter will probably go up for PO this month, since Wonder festival they have put up for PO Venom, EVA-1, Lady Maria, Serpentor, Scarecrow, Mr, Freeze, Yenefa, Shockwave, Green lantern, Guts.

I missed out the EX. Today I decided to pull the trigger on the non EX Bloodborne Lady Maria

I had some SideShow points to spend, and it was either going to be SideShow The Joker (Heath Ledger 1/4) or P1 Bloodborne 1/4
Since i don't own anything by P1 now is the time :)

..also PCS Mileena 1/3 should drop about the same time.
From past history, i'm expecting Mileena to drop late, up to one year late :D

Other than PCS Chun-Li 1/3 i can't see much else on the horizon i want. Which is good news for my wallet.
I'm sure something new will show up. XM Studio's Catwoman is looking impressive, although XM sell out in seconds!
