Ok, so I've had both Dazzler busts for years, and I always wanted to get the Exclusive one converted into a Jubilee. I thought it would be perfect. Well, I decided I didn't want to potentially ruin the one I had, so I bought a second and given my recent attempts at customizations not going horribly awry, I wanted to try my hand at this.

I'm not sure yet if I should to the Noto "Vampire" Jubilee, or Gen X Jubilee for this bust. Opinions?

But here's what I have do far:

The glasses are the worst part. I just can't seem to get them right, so that's the best I could do. *shrug* I had to end up putting glass beads and wire inside them for structure, because free handing it was not working.

The hair also came out a little bit bigger than I wanted, but I was trying to conceal how thick the glasses turned out. It's not perfect by any means, but I think I matched the hair texture well if nothing else. I started smoothing out her catsuit "seams" today, and I think I'm going to try a short coat, or if I do a long one I'll have to make it flare out in the back so I don't mess up the powers that make up her base.

Here's the what she looks like normally:

When I first started taking her head band off, I couldn't figure out why it wasn't breaking. I figured it must have a piece of wire in it or something. Nope, it's actually cast metal. I wasn't expecting that. But thankfully it came off well and I was able to cover up the back section where I broke it off.

I'm also trying to keep her face paint intact, so I don't have to redo that too much, but we'll see how successful I'll be with that goal.

Thanks for looking!

looking good so far, theres definitely a learning curve - ive had to redo so much stuff while working on projects. I spent over a month sculpting the midsection of a statue to realize at the end I didn't like it. I dremeled the whole thing off and started again but the next time it looked a lot better and while I hated reworking it in the end I was really happy I did. for your next time working with glasses I would suggest making them out of a different material like plastistruct (sheets of plastic you get at a hardware store) and attaching them at the end. either that or rolling out a sheet of aves, let it dry, sand it smooth to the desired thickness then shape the piece into glasses and attach at the end. you could use the same process for the sides of the glass frames then pin them together during assembly. looking forward to future progress :thumbs2:

Oh, thanks so much for the tips. I'll look into the plastistruct, I hadn't considered something like that.

Thanks! :) I started on my Ultimate Jean Grey Bust and decided Dazzler here will be Gen-X Jubes, so I'll put up some more progress shots soon.

Here's an update. Not complete yet, or sanded, but close:

I started painting her:

I'll be trying to keep most of the face paint, but will be tweaking the eyes and lips. I got some nice Vallejo paints for Christmas I couldn't wait to use. She's going to be a Gen X version. I'm making the Ultimate Jean Grey bust I'm working on into another Noto/Vampire version.

Small update on paint. This is the only one of my current ones that have the gloss coat on the jacket. She had a slight accident though. She slipped while I was painting her and I broke off the powers on the hand. That was heartbreaking, I was devastated. But, I may take the larger broken piece, you can see laying to the right, and use it to give my Ultimate Jean Grey/Jubilee conversion piece some powers in her hand. We'll see.

She is done. She didn't gloss up enough with the clear coat, it may have been too humid out today. Which ticks me off since the red and yellows are gloss paints, it looked even better before the topcoat. I might try another coat on a drier day, but for now she is complete. I'm pretty happy with her for my first custom from a produced piece, and considering I broke her powers, I think I salvaged it well enough.

I have wanted this custom since I first saw the Dazzler bust, so almost a decade now. I'm happy to finally have a Jubilee bust at all! :D
