I'm struggling with this one.

I really like it, however I much preferred the original art direction.

While the new art direction is growing on me for the newer pieces, we never got to see how they looked with the old art direction. With Rodimus, we did see how he would look with the old art direction and I liked it.

I don't mind the chrome, however I think they may have gone a bit overboard on the wear and tear.

I agree. I can't afford to start collecting Transformers, so I'm hoping this one piece embodies all of Transformerdom for me. Rodimus is far from my favorite Transformer, but how do you get more iconic than this?

Since I have never purchased anything directly from IA...I can't say anything negative or positive towards IA...but where there is smoke there is fire. I do not know if these are rumors or not because many collectors are saying many things for other companies as well. I know that IA has great delays in delivering and replacing but for sure is not the only company that is dealing with delays in replacements or other staff. I am waiting for Prime 1 replacements on my batman prestige suit for 5 months now and the last units i received had all of them problems! It is something that the collectors cannot avoid but we need to have the best possible support. Personally i believe that it is important to buy your collectibles from a trustworthy shop. If you feel safe with your shop and it is there for you and answers your emails and try hard to solve your cases then you do not have to fear anything. I have purchased the mark 42,43,7 in 1/2 scale. I had issues with the mark 42 but they were solved in a very proper way. It took some time (a few months) to ship the replacement from IA to the shop but everything was solved. If you want to buy IA and feel secure buy through darksidetoy.com. They are official dealers of sideshow prime 1, IA and many more . They are professionals so they will not leave you behind. They were there for me every time needed. I have bought other staff as well and had no problem and of course good prices which is also important for all the heavy collectors.
Also in my opinion the Imaginarium Art Iron mans are the BEST out there. They have the mark 7 in a very good price now as well for a 1/2 scale statue.
In my opinion check carefully from where you buy, maybe if you have a problem they don’t support you in the proper way and that is something very important for me.

However it is very safe and you can purchase with confidence through BBTS.

If you don't get your statue you'll get your money back.

It's been great watching the pieces coming out lately and for me the financials to stay in the game do sour the future with days being numbered. A Grimlock in LOC smaller scale would be cool but the LOC's are a bit pricey too.

SS Thanos is very cool and if you decide to part there is still a lot of hype but I think pieces floating in the market. No perfect time. This looks like a great theater setting piece too.

Ultra Magnus is beautiful. On par with Soundwave, in my humble opinion. I am surprised he didn't get more kudos like Soundwave did.

I think IA is doing a good job with these pieces, especially the effort to stay true to the source material. We are lucky these are not being designed by Sideshow. Big thanks to IA and probably the limitation on what they have licenses to do so they can focus.

Interesting. Optimus Prime is my favorite piece of all and I consider one of my grails. His base has the OG trailer with roller AND that gunner pod! The design cues on that piece IS the prime for me. I also have the Prime 1 Optimus and some old school Prime PVC figures which are great but the IA piece is THE Prime.

Rodimus Prime, which is also basically Hot Rod, is the physical representation of all things great about Transformers The Movie and I just had to have this. We will not see this piece again in this size and detail.

Soundwave, Ultra Magnus. and Starscream are all great pieces too but with space and price I just can't have them all and will just enjoy from afar. Galvatron and Cyclonus I hope will make an appearance some day even in the smaller legacy scale and if they do these justice, I will pick them up.

Indomitus what’s your opinion on the Xm Optimus. I’ve got the P1 displayed and IA still boxed and agree IA is “the” Prime. Ignoring the size of Xm’s any thoughts between the 3?

Happy to share my opinion! Let's pull up images of the original and the 3 statues in order of my preference.

IA Prime is Optimus brought to life from the TV screen and comic book pages. All the right elements and only taking a few design liberties. When I see this piece I see my childhood. Just compare this with the Original Prime image. AND they included all the nostalgia parts from the trailer!

I also have this. A great art piece that pays respect to the original design but is most definitely modernized and to be a considered an artistic take on the character. When you see this it is unmistakable that it is Optimus. But 2nd to IA's design from the perspective of what we saw growing up.

This piece is also unmistakably Optimus and you can see the great efforts taken for the design. I was originally woo'd by this piece from initial images to only later decide it might not be the piece for me but not taking anything away from how great it truly looks. My hold up for this is the jigsaw appearance of the body elements which are more apparent the closer you get. I respect the design, appreciate the intention, and understand the craftsmanship going in, but it takes away from the Prime I grew up and loved. Other than that, it's a great piece and cool that it comes with Prime in truck form. For others, I can see this being a centerpiece but every time I decide to take a second look the back of my mind tells me something is different about this Prime.

Thanks for the insight. I’ve got the Xm Optimus on preorder and will share pics when he comes. I’m trying to figure my collection out seeing as Transformers are a focus for company’s now. I don’t want a zillion Primes laying around the house. So it’s nice to get some opinions from you guys.

Interesting. Optimus Prime is my favorite piece of all and I consider one of my grails. His base has the OG trailer with roller AND that gunner pod! The design cues on that piece IS the prime for me. I also have the Prime 1 Optimus and some old school Prime PVC figures which are great but the IA piece is THE Prime.

Rodimus Prime, which is also basically Hot Rod, is the physical representation of all things great about Transformers The Movie and I just had to have this. We will not see this piece again in this size and detail.

Soundwave, Ultra Magnus. and Starscream are all great pieces too but with space and price I just can't have them all and will just enjoy from afar. Galvatron and Cyclonus I hope will make an appearance some day even in the smaller legacy scale and if they do these justice, I will pick them up.

I absolutely recommend this piece for fans of the character and Transformers The Movie. When I strike it rich and get that movie theater room, this will be a center piece. Of course opposite the IA Optimus Prime. :thumbs2:

House hunting and statue buying at the same time is a unique position to be in at the same time! Might I recommend you also buy the house with an In-Law unit for the statues if you can pull it off. Space is the enemy! A man cave gives her the rest of the house. :thumbs2:

It's an awesome position to be in. We decided to pull up roots and move states. We cashed out the equity in our expensive California 1200 sq ft. mansion and moved to AZ. Much more reasonable prices. I got a transfer and the wife was employed within a week, so we are very grateful. It is hotter than hell here though.

Does anybody have any hands on pics with this? I watched a review and it didnt look that great to me which sucks because Rodimus is my favorite. The arm socket joints like way to far spaced apart and the Matrix look oversized. Just trying to decide if I should try to go for this or XM optimus. Thanks

I thought I posted pictures but that was for my sale. I don’t have those pictures anymore unfortunately nor the statue.

It’s a good statue and one of the last full polystone TF’s IA did before their move to partial PVC/plastics. Paint app is good and the pose with him holding the Matrix is my favorite.

The cons are the gun pose looks silly/awkward, this was when IA wanted to give multiple poses but should have focused on just 1. The back fin magnets suck. I was vacuuming around the statue and the vibration caused them to fall. The Matrix does look a tad corny. The glow effect is meh and you need to pray the arms were machined properly so the Matrix fits. My personal gripe was the base is like a lazy susan so it spins. But with all the weight it’s a pain to turn and it causes paint scuffing between the bottom of the base and the lazy susan.

My personal opinion go with XM Optimus. Find Bmutha’s video in the XM thread and look at my pictures. I’ll be posting about 20 shortly. Hope this helps.

should make on in LOC scale. the should make the larges in LOC scale, I have SE, UM, SS on Throne but too much money, they would be awesome in LOC.
