I just got this news letter from Moore:

Invincible Statue
In Stores Winter 2006
More information coming soon!
Robert Kirkman, Corey Walker and Ryan Ottley, co-creators of the Image Comics title Invincible, have signed The CS Moore Studio to produce statues and busts based on characters from the popular series.

Clayburn Moore will begin with a statue of the lead character Mark Grayson, aka Invincible.

“I couldn’t be happier to be working with Robert Kirkman,” said CS Moore Studio President Clayburn Moore. “This book is superb, with some of the best comics writing in years. The characters are terrific and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Release date, edition size and pricing for the statue will be announced soon.

I mean what a waste of the mans talent. Come on. DC Direct needs to put Moore on the F'n payroll.

I love Moore but damn it takes him a long time to knock these out. :banghead:

So, besides Kabuki and the Savage Dragon chick, is this all we're gonna see from him in '06?

I should have pics of this for you guys before the end of the month (December).

As far as wasting his talent, have a little faith. I am biased of course and I don't usually like to editorialize but he brings more to a piece than boobs and butts. I think the main thing is that he likes the property and Kirkman likes his work so that is why this is happening.

There will be quite a bit more from him next year.

More Brandy stuff (remember there are two other versions of that statues that are very different and you guys haven't seen yet), a brand new witchblade statue that you guys are gonna love, Invincible, two She-Dragons, the piece he is doing with Mark Schultz, The new releases of Magdalena and AIX and those are just the ones I know about/can talk about. There could be others.

All I know is Clay is a class act. I think if we want quality we have to allow him the time to sculpt the piece properly. Considering his talent, he is extremely capable of sculpting anything especially muscualr males (he has done many in the past).

He's one of the few good honest folks in this biz so please offer him some patience and support ;)

Strikes me as an odd choice as well....

Well, if this is the fellow who is the subject of the statue:

http://www.weirdspace.dk/Robert%20Kirkman/Graphics/Mark%20Grayson.jpg

It just isn't one that interests me at this point.
I'll wait to reserve judgement until seeing the statue, but
a character I've never heard of, and don't care about at
all is likely one that I'll pass on.

I want Moore to take on Vampirella.
He can make 10,000 of them and everyone would be fighting for one.
I don't care how long I have to wait.Hopefully I can get one before I retire(from earth)

He does take a long time but the end result is unmatched.Remember he had a company and lost it and now he's coming back(you can't keep a good man down!)
I hope he gets some talented sculptors to help out.

Everyone will soon see more from MOORE you can bet on it.

Besides 2006 he should come out with a new version.

That isn't his sculpt. It was factory sculpted.

I think this was just a statue-fied version of the action figure. he'd produced.

That is what it is. That was a nice action figure.

He did a bust and an ornament I think.

This interview certainly makes it seem like he did the Vampirella sculpt: http://www.crescentblues.com/5_2issue/int_moore.shtml

selected quotes: Clayburn Moore: Well, yes. The first piece that I did when I started in this industry was Vampirella for Harris, under the Vampirella license...When I was first contacted to do a sculpture of Vampirella, I knew who Vampirella was. I had read the comics, and so I thought this was great.

What about the ornament? I'm pretty sure I recall reading that he sculpted that:

He did sculpt a Vampirella full sized. But it wasn't that one. He and Sugita both did Vampi full sized pieces for MC.

The ornament is just an action figure we cut up. Clay may have resculpted some of the hair I don't remember.

The Moore and Sugita version was good but it's time Moore do one all by his lonesome.

Where's Kabuki?
Will the rest of the noah agents be produced?

That Wolverine diorama is great to bad nobody got a chance to see your Thor vs Silver Surfer or the others you had planned back then produced.

comicbkguy

No, Moore and Sugita both did separate versions. Two statues, he has already done one on his own.
Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Yeah, I believe that was based on the action figure. Does not really count. The other prodeced by moore was from Susigata? Not sure if I got the spelling right but a gifted sculptor. although I have not seen any recent work from him.

The photo above is the action figure. It is just a casting before articulation that was painted. The statue Clay did was a kit that they later did as a statue. I will try and see if Clay has any decent pictures of it he can send me. The only ones I can find online are poorly painted kits. If he doesn't have pics I will run a casting and take pics for you guys eventually. I still have the molds.

The action figure is ok but many of us want a fullsize version.
Any chance Moore could aquire the rights and have one produced?

If not then I guess I would have to forget about buying anything Vampirella.
I'll keep the Frazetta paintings though.

i love Invincible and this is awesome news to me. for those who haven't read the book and never heard of the character, do yourself a favor and don't slam it till you have. it's one of the freshest and funniest comics you'll ever read.

Wow this thread has gotten off topic.

This is the Vampirella that Clay did. Apparently it was the first piece he did in the industry and I was wrong it predates his company. He said that it may have been altered from this form and that it was a kit. One he said wasn't very well produced.

And as far as Harris goes, our understanding has been since they ended their licensing agreement with Moore Creations that their preference is to do projects like this in house, and therefore there is no real chance of Clay doing a Vampirella anytime soon if ever.

There was also an extremely limited bronze version of Clay's Vampirella that sold for a few thousand a year or two ago on Ebay. Crazy rare.

I think there were two versions of that. A bronze colored one and a SOLID bronze one.

Correct me if I'm wrong please. Thanks

Yeah I think they released some really bad looking bronze painted ones. The bronze that sold might have been a private commission of some type, but yeah it was the same sculpt.
