I wanted to show a few pics of our wip on the licensed Frazetta SNOW GIANTS being sculpted by Tony Cipriano. Please be aware that some things are yet to be done and the Giants' weapons are makeshift at the moment. The piece is 1/6th scale with three characters, so it is big. In just a few weeks we will be meeting with Mr. Frazetta to review the work thus far. Hope you folks enjoy!

Our cost imput into this piece will be astronomical from licensing through production and shipping. Unfortunately that will will reflect in the RSP which is not yet set. The good news is that those who own the work will have one of the top Frazetta collectibles thus far produced.
Sweet, Mike & Tony!

You guys were already making a good name for yourselves as a company with the impressive work on your plate, but the addition of Tony to your team really seals the deal on your growing reputation. You couldn't have found a better artist/sculptor match-up, in my opinion. Keep up the good work!!!

Hey guys,
Thanks for the encouragement. This piece is VERY important to me....probably the most fun/most excited I've ever been to do a sculpt....
I knew as soon as I saw Michael's avatar that we were kindred spirits and planned on giving him a call to ask if I could do some work for his company....then he contacted me with this job...and I almost passed out.
I'll admit, working with Frank Frazetta is about as exciting as it gets for me....but it is also crazy-scary. I'm a nervous wreck ... :)
Hopefully he'll like it as much as you guys. I'll probably make a big dent in it this coming week as we have to show it to Frank in person next week.
DOH!!! :confused2
Thanks again for the support, my friends.
Best,
Tony
Your lucky the folks at ReelArt Studios chose to produce that piece and we are lucky they picked you to sculpt it! Normally I would not buy a piece that large but who could pass on one of the best Frezetta's brought to 3D by an equally gifted sculpter.
I was pretty excited by the Moore Thor/Surfer piece but maybe we will actually get to buy this one. Anyway, I have been softening up my wife about the idea.

Not written in stone, bit quite high. I'd venture to say $275 to $325.00. I would like to say less, but the production will be astronomical and it is now looking like the possiblity of double licensing on Frazetta's SNOW GIANTS. I can't speak on this any further at this time though. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the updates. In all honesty this is one of those ultra rare pieces that I tell myself not to get too excited about in order to avoid extreme disappointment if things fall through. The thought of owning a three dimensional sculpt based upon that painting -- one of my very favorite Frazetta images -- is just unreal. The WIP shots look absolutely fantastic.
Price? Who cares, as long as the price reflects the quality of the production. I don't mean to tell you how to run your business, but please don't cut corners on this one. Stay true to your artistic vision and make this piece as special as it deserves to be. This is one of those sculpts that can and should be a focal point of any collection. Such pieces understandably cost more. If you can bang it out for $175 without a loss of quality, great. But I wouldn't be surprised with pricing more in line with the Weta Kong vs. T-Rex or the Sideshow Grievious. People will pay for quality.
One Question: Any idea of the general dimensions, yet? I know you indicated that it was 1/6 scale, but those are snow giants so I am hopeful that those two figures are at least in the 16-18 inch range. The bigger the better for this fantastic piece.

That's not a bad price at all for this sculpt. It is to soon to tell, but if they sell well (and I think they will) perhaps a companion piece the Frost Giants Daughter could be offered.

Weren't there similar cross-licensing issues when Moore produced Frazetta's Barbarian? I seem to recall a last-minute freeze on the release until some sort of unanticipated challenge was resolved.

At this moment, Tony is pulling all nighters with the castings. I've seen a few shots and they look beautiful. After we receive ( which should be less than a week) the castings go to the super cool Danno, who will be doing the paint master chores. I'm pretty sure that Mr. Cope will be posting his progression here for us all to drool over. It will go into production as soon as Dan is through...

Good question...We have a deal with the Frazettas for four pieces and have three selected with the third being the art attached. As for the fourth piece, we haven't decided. I've had several requests for SILVER WARRIER but haven't
checked with Frank as to the availablility. He may or may not approve pending the length of contract time on the Snow Globe. I like the idea though

and Jordi Bernet is a very nice man. His TORPEDO character is very much in the style of our own Alex Toth's art who actually did illustrate TORPEDO at one time. The stories themselves are very dark though, don't you think...
noir or what might be called "black comedy"?
Thank you and to answer your query, well, er, I guess it comes from a lifetime of reading and being a student of comic art, illustration and movies, especially from the late 1800's to the mid 1970's.
France offers such a wealth of graphic storytelling inspiration for me. I wish more of it was available in the U.S. Someday I might look into producing French graphic novels into the U.S. language.

Yes, the stories are dark and violent with a little touch of gorgeous creatures.
I wonder which will be your preference for your project (sexy or dark and violent) ?
And thank you, i understand better the choices of your different statues.
I'm waiting attack of brain monster signed by Shawn Nagle and I'm waiting a lot of your statues (Frazetta, Frank Cho, Bill Stout number one, Sinbad, John Burroughs Tarzan, even i prefer John Carter adventures)
continue like that, it is really original, different and filling with enthusiasm compared to the other editors. :buttrock:

Ravageur, I could use you as a spokesperson...You humble us...thank you.
Regarding Edgar Rice burroughs, please keep in mind our license will allow us to do other characters besides Tarzan. So a John Carter of Mars is not out of the question. In fact, we've already started a sculpt based on JC and DT but it will be some time before they are produced.
Bless you my friend...

An alien stranded on another planet who was gifted with super strength and abilities because of the lesser gravity. Remind you of another superhero? Except Burroughs wrote about John Carter in 1912. Green Martians, ray guns, ships, beautiful women. I can't figure out why John Carter has not ALREADY been done many times over.
Judging by the quality of what I have seen thus far from RealArt, I can't wait to see what they do with Burrough's John Carter. Just don't forget about Thuvia!

Michael, is there any chance you could do anything based on Elric or any other Michael Moorc0ck character? Just wondering because I don't think justice has been done to the opportunity these characters represents.

Hey Rafter, sorry to be late in responding...I missed your post yesterday. Elric...ya know I haven't thought of Moor****'s character but that is a great idea. I've got the contact information and just might look into it. What artist
interpretation do you like? Frank Brunner, Michael Whelan or Brom? or anyone else's interpretation...?
See attached
This is open to any discussion to all

I've always been a fan of the Whelan stuff myself.

Hi Folks,
Don't want to beat a horse to death but thought you'd like to see the finished Tony Cipriano Frazetta SNOW GIANTS sculpt in a completed form. It is now in the hands of Dan Cope who, unfortunately, can't show us pics until after completion. I know he will do an amazing job. Our plans are to have one on display at the San Diego Comic Con. Hope you are pleased with Tony's results.
Best Regards,
Michael

Yep, just got the finals in from Pzak yesterday and uploaded. I plan to post em soon. Frank had us do some face modification to a Brandy look and we had to comply. Should be up soon!
