This will blow Sideshows Darkseid out of the water.

I'm sure this one will be much more massive and in scale with SSC's Superman. Look at the size comparison pic.

http://images.en.yibada.com/data/images/full/75848/darkseid-is-one-of-supermans-greatest-enemies.jpg?w=685

over this

http://www.geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2011/11/2011-11-16-darkseid_full-533x764.jpg

I just don't like Darkseid wearing armor. I am looking forward to the full reveal with paint though.

Wow..

1/4 scale
Similar theme for the base to be displayed together but not joinable like TMNT.
Darkseid is already big by itself.

That looks good, Darkseid will be a beast judging from this pic.

I honestly do prefer the classic look as well, I was a bit disappointed when I saw Sideshows take (also because he has no fabric).

that's kind of where I stand, I really like the size of the darkseid pf. hes a big dude, but not hulk huge - I realize that's some folks' ideal size for this guy but I just really dig that pf. the details on this look really impressive though, im very curious what price these 1/4 scale pieces ring in at...

Wow this thing looks miles better than the ss version imo from pose, fully sculpted to size. Cannot wait to see this guy. To me the new 52 designs looks the same as the classics overall. I can't really tell the differences between any of them. These prime 1 marvels is giving xm a run for the top statues. Prime 1 is nothing but super details, great qc, and now amazing licenses and scales. Very exciting! Imagine some 1/3 marvels in the future.

I cant believe I am agreeing with CBG...but he is right. Darkseid and most of the New 52 design still capture the essence of their style. Darkseid has been modernized, no more skirt and hooker boots ;)

I understand that we are most familiar with the past designs as we grew up with that and that is why we will always have a nostalgic connection with them. No more underwear heroes. Doesnt mean I wouldnt mind owning the classics as well...Superman classic outfit is always going to be #1. but IMO i dont mind the updates. Darkseid looks like a beast. I'm curious to see how Snyder will depict him in the movies.

Looking forward to seeing this beast in totality. I'm not opposed to his new 52 more armored look at all. I actually prefer more modern takes on a lot (not all) of these characters designs. For me I don't necessarily need the classic renditions. I would gladly only have XM's Batman and this Darksied representing these characters in my collection.

I'm not seeing how this one is going to be as expensive as some people are claiming. True, it's a larger size 1:4 however it's also a simple base. I wouldn't be shocked if this is 1k due to the price increases as of late however I just don't see him being more expensive than that.

The P1 Venom is 32 inches with the tendrils. This Darkseid is that tall with pure mass. He actually looks like he has more mass than most of P1's 1/3 scale figures other than maybe Croc and Bane.

I think the SS version is undersized. Yes the Classic Darkseid isn't as tall or wide as New 52 but IMO the classic should at least look more Imposing.

Agreed. I know Darkseid varies in size and keeps getting bigger and bigger, but he was just too small for the display I envisioned. Especially when compared to the oversized SS Batman. I think he was also a bit too small compared to the Superman. This is the stature I envisioned for Darkseid in my display.

Well, I caved and ordered Darkseid. Even though it is a bit more than I was hoping to spend, I am weak, lol. I am probably in for all of the Justice League in this line other than the Superman, because I plan on displaying a custom Supes instead. I really like most of the N52 costumes but not necessarily Superman's armor and collar.

I am with you on Bane. I also passed on Bane, the new Deadpool and Groot and Rocket, because I knew I had to have Thanos and Darkseid in my collection. Bane was probably the hardest for me to pass on, but at these prices you have to focus on the characters that you really love.

Plus display space is at a premium and I will pair off the two SS Batmans with the Joker and Killer Croc and hold out hope that a Two-Face, Scarecrow and/or Penguin will be made some day. Bane is a great looking sculpt but I just don't care about the character as much as some of the old-school Bat villains.

Ordered the second it went up for sale.

I have Thanos on pre-order and really wanted to add Darkseid as well to my setup. The PF Darkseid I think would look to small next to the Thanos on throne. Also the texture/detail/paint on the Prime Darkseid will match better with Thanos.

Here's a quick size comparison, all statues are tilted forward but each statue is set to scale. The Prime Darkseid is humongeuous.. he's gonna be way bulkier then Thanos but in my opinion will look better compared to the Darkseid PF which will look to small. Going by their statistics Darkseid is about 2 feet taller then Thanos. So comparing Thanos on Throne and Prime Darkseid, if Thanos were standing I think its pretty close in height to where they should be at.. its just Darkseid will be waaay bulkier. But comparing Thanos to the SS Darkseid, if Thanos were standing he would too tall in comparison and not accurate.

If I remember correctly Thanos should be 6' 7" and Darkseid is 8' 9".

Again this is all rough estimates but the Prime Darkseid base should be around 9" ..statue is 32" ..which makes him 23" tall, slightly slouched over.
Thanos is 21" sitting, theres really no base height, so Im estimating if he stood up he'd be another 3-4" taller.. putting him around 25" tall.
Prime Darkseid is hunched over so add some height and he should be roughly 2 feet taller then Thanos, right where he should be. Just a LOT bulkier. :) But Darkseid does have the power to grow so all is good depending how you look at it.

And as for the Darkseid PF, base looks roughly 6" ..statue is 26", putting Darkseid standing at the same height as Thanos sitting ...doesnt work.

There's going to soon be three huge Darkseids in the market place. XM don't forget is doing a Ginormous Darkseid, except it's part of a 1/6 Diorama.

More choices for everyone...that is definitely the one benefit of having multiple companies doing same licenses. IMO...the size of this Darkseid is how big SS Darkseid should have been.

Kind of how SS did the Superman PF eyes? Might be tricky with how delicate it would be ...they would have to be longer than how Supermans beams are so they could add the effect of the diagonal in the beam.

I'd be interested if it's doable.. don't really care too much for the ex head now.

The ss darksied is a joke in scale. Way too small and not menacing looking next to the ss D.C. Statues. He's just way too small. Same with the ss hulks, venom, bane, death stroking guy, etc all just too small. This darksied looks as good as it can get. The p1 scales are perfection in scale with the 1/4 statues. All the above mentioned statues like hulk, bane, gator guy, venom should be close to this in size to match the comics and cartoon tv shows. P1 nailed the venom scale to perfection too. So impressed by p1 scales. They understand what character sizes are. Thanks you p1. Please don't ever change! Now let's get a doomsday, man bat, the brown sculpey clay lava looking guy, in this scale for the 1/4 line.
Oh and I forgot to say it's a bit more than what I wanted to spend but ordered! This will destroy my child sized ss darksied.

I am going to politely disagree. I believe the prototype exceeded expectations. If the production pieces are a good representation, there's going to be some happy collectors. Not being as big as Darkseid (which he's not supposed to be) does not diminish it.

:iagree: they made thanos look way bigger than he really is. Anything on a throne is normally not as big as we may think. The throne itself will be huge. The character itself is decent here but not as big as we believe it to be. It's the same with xm mags.

I should clarify that people will be disappointed in the hieght. Throne statues are not very tall. It will be big in width and depth, but the depth (throne) will not be seen unless you have display with mirrors. First pictures made thanos look half scale. Thanos looks ok imo. It's the price that's way over the top. 1200.00 and shipping for a pf is crazy. This is still a normal size pf and not a huge pf like the p1 darksied. I love p1 so much for their 1/4 accurate scales like darksied and venom. They can't get any better. No other companies does scales for the big guys correct. Thanks p1! So happy for these correct scale sizes! I remembered saying the ss hulks, bane, venom etc are all too small. They needed to be at least the size of pcs 1/3 Akuma to looks accurate in 1/4 as the comics and cartoons. Even that it's not way bigger. It's a very good size to begin with which looks very good! If some says very oldie classics then it could pass with these smaller scales. But I don't think when ss makes these they were going for 50-60s artwork. Lol

I'd say the heights are pretty good because Thanos for the most part has been depicted around 6'8" give or take an inch. 20" in 1/4 scale equals out to 6'8" and Thanos is around that sitting so I'd say he's plenty big enough. I feel Darkseid varies a bit more height wise as he's always been fairly large, but in the new 52 era they made him absolutely monstrous (height wise). I know he can technically control his height and etc, but I'm just speaking of base height. So if we see how big he is in the new 52 I'd say this statue is pretty on the money.

part of it was honestly getting the pf in hand and being a little let down. the classic costume while I like it - I dunno seemed so plain in sculpture form in person. he didn't tower over other statues, the paint while decently applied seemed very bland, overall it just didn't have the presence I was looking for in a darkseid statue. this kind of addresses each of those issues plus its not as big as I originally thought based on the very first teaser and the ex makes the portrait I didn't like a non-issue

Definitely happy I waited for the P1 version. I almost won an eBay auction a couple months ago, just throwing a bid out there at the last minute, now I am relieved I didn't win and don't regret it in the least.

I will also add that because of these Prime 1 N52 statues, Spiderman 2099/Venom and the 1/3 Batman line, I am going to have to start selling some statues for space and to refocus my collection. This was from Prime 1's website

Darkseid
Height: 83.5 cm Width: 61.5 cm Depth: 51.5 cm

So roughly

Height: 33" x Width: 24" x Depth: 20"

Ok great, thanks.

Watching it now looks amazing!

Im afraid he won't fit in my cabinet.. it's 47" H x 31"w x 17"D. The depth is what scares me since he's 20" ... I'm hoping I can angle him and he'll fit inside.. I really want to keep him in my collection ..I'll have to figure something out.

33". 47" is how high that guy's cabinet is.

At one point she said 35" ..then corrected it to a little over 32"

Just saw it, here's the correct timestamp: https://youtu.be/iTen2uIhvA4?t=635

Damn, I'm happy I'm building a new house, cause this thing is HUGE! Loving it :D (Shipping 'll suck bigtime though :o )

It's crazy seeing people next to the larger P1 pieces - it really puts into perspective how massive they are. Seeing it also makes me excited for Venom and human-form Zodd that I have preordered, as their dimensions are all roughly similar.

Will p1 cut the Es for slow sales?

How? The bases we got is already numbered. Will there be regular versions?

sparda

Don't think so, they'll just keep lowering the ES on new pieces, such as cyborg, which has an es of 350.

Man this guy is huge! Maybe he can be put up to replace those statues being pulled from government buildings by protesters in the US. Or maybe I'm confusing this guy instead putting up Woman Woman on a Horse as a lawn monument? Apokolips here we come! :drinking:

Yeah great piece, did a little unboxing for the guys add Radd Titan. You can find it on their Youtube page. Big, solid, good paint job. Very nicely done.

Now just to find a cabinet that can hold him :p

Okay just got it.
It's one of the best pieces I have gotten to date. Very detailed. Good QC. Tons of presence. Biggest 1/4 statue I ever gotten.

Sorry for the horizontal photos.

Great piece and sale, but I'll need a 1/3 Darkseid to match my other statues.

Imagine a 1/3 scale of Darkseid based on the panels when he battled the Anti-Monitor. He looked so big relative to everyone else. Even more so than this statue which should be the same version?

I was browsing the low stock classifieds otherwise known as Last Chance Items on Sideshow and saw this beast with 10% discount AND free shipping? Wow! I know this is expensive and should come with divorce papers but anyone interested in a new 52 collection or even a center piece Darkseid should take a look. I just randomly did a search on new 52 Darkseid or even Darkseid in general and not a lot to choose from. Interesting to see the future of this character if he makes his way into a future DC and or Justice League movie.

I'm assuming those of us who preordered with flexpay don't get the deal.

If you chat with Sideshow, you can tell them about the discount and how you still have it on flex pay and they might apply the discount and free shipping to your order. It’s worth a shot.

Sideshow customer service just scored some points with me. They added the code, and saved me a bunch of money on my last payment. I shouldn't have been so pessemistic.

This is the heaviest statue body piece I have ever tried to carry. P1 Darkseid does not mess around. Your other pieces will look like puny girly men.

My only P1 piece so far is Flashpoint Batman. The arms are so-so, but the gun holsters feel week. They haven't fallen out yet, so I guess it's fine. There's always velcro lol.

There's a putty you can use as well. I get a little miffed when things don't work the way they're supposed to though. It really is an amazing statue and everything else is great.
