I have seen many of the prelims of cover's that won't be released by the current owner or I'd never be able to afford pop up. Would you add a prelim to your collection? If so, under what situation would you do it? Do you or have you had any in your collection?

For me, I'd add one if the prelim was tight. I'd add the following Mike Zeck prelim to my collection:

That's just a nice tight drawing of Frank.

I have only 1 prelim in my collection. It’s Paul Pelletier’s prelim for Hulk 635 and includes 4 images on one piece of paper. I tried to get the cover but it was snatched up by a fellow collector that was quicker on the draw than myself. I could afford it but it is not available as it is locked away in a great Hulk collector’s collection. The prelim was graciously gifted to me by the owner of the cover. Thanks again Steve!

I see a prelim every once and a while that I have considered purchasing. Usually, it goes for more than I want to pay. I keep my eyes open and may snag one some day but I am also happy if the one I have is all I ever own. Not a big target for me.

I have a dellotto prelim and have debated about another one that is out there. If priced right, they are nice affordable ways of getting a 'cover' by the artist - problem is that many reps want to price these at way too high a price. you can consider doing neat things with prelims ie scanning them and having another inker give their interpretation of the piece.

Only if it was a tightly pencilled prelim and of a cover that I covet. Oh, and the right price of course!

Man, I'm a sucker for that stuff. Preliminary, unused, sketched.......I dig covers.

I have a few covers that had prelims attached to their backs on separate paper. Love em!

That Zeck piece is super detailed, not a good example of a prelim IMO ... that is more finished than some published covers. Wow

That is a nice one. Frank looks tired and mad at the same time in that.

4 in 1? what?!?

He did 4 prelims for the cover and 2 were selected (one as a variant).

All of those prelims are very nice. I really like the Hulk C one that is similar to the published cover but shows the Hulk feeling sad/sorrow.

I have a prelim panel page, which is cool as the finished page (and pages around it) had the panels moved around a bit in the final version. I have tons of prelims for all my commissions.

I do have a couple rejected covers (one pencil, one pencil/ink). Also have an unused cover as the company went out of business.

What book was that cover for?

The cover for the company that went out of business? Kris Silver's Greater Mercury Comics line. Brian Riedel's cover to Edge #13:
