The weathering on the v.2 is sooo much better than the v.1. I love everything about this piece. The only thing better in the v.1 is that is has a nicer pose, but the v.2 has the guns firing! :buttrock:

Frost, do you have the v.1? I'd LOVE to see pics with both in the same shot for a comparison. I know P1 will have both, so we may have to wait for him.

Does anyone know the exact scale of the

1) AT-AT
2) Snow Speeder
3)... and if in the scale the STUDIO used for Millenium Falcon?

I am also a model maker and was wondering if they will fit into the models I have built so far.

That's a cool idea with this piece. I did this with some of my pieces in the past (Bowen's Logan and Sabretooth), Cinemacast Vader and some others. Looked good but it did bother me at some point and I just removed. I wish I had taken pictures of it!
But in this case looks nice, since it's a very neutral picture that doesn't distract too much from the statue/replica. About where to get it done, we can check at allposters.com to see if we find a snow landscape poster. Or get a high res picture and get it done. ;)

ps: P1X, you have PM. :p

SS always gives dimensions including the base, usually, so...

Not always. I do own many SS pieces that ended up beeing larger than advertised. Endoarm it's a good example. It says 24" on SS site, but with the base, it stays almost 29".

elwood49
09-20-2005, 08:59 AM
I bet the 1:1 Endo is taller than 6'2". I know what it says on the site, but that is sometimes wrong. Look at Krypton Knight's thread on the Thing maquette for proof of that fact.

P1, that is a sweet Hoth backdrop! That would look good if you could get it to look professional.

Thanks for that suggestion P1. Even though I've already purchased the AT-AT, that could be helpful for the Y-Wing and MF next year. Hopefully he can offer the same kind of deal. We should get a group together around the time those go up for sale.

Guys, mine just arrived, and I have to say that this is easily the centerpiece of my collection. I'm putting it together with a screwdriver right now. The Walker has to be screwed into the base, and several parts have to be attached. The UPS guy about had a damn heart attack bringing it up to my house. He had to use a handtruck. For those who have one coming, you will NOT be disappointed. My camera is at my girlfriend's apartment right now, but pics will follow soon. I just wanted to give you guys my first impressions upon taking it out of the box. I got #306/750.

To those on the fence, get the hell off of it and get this thing NOW!!! Do whatever you have to do. I'm now in the market for the Falcon and the Y-Wing after seeing this type of quality.

BTW, I just sold off my Code 3 Slave I. It looks like a little toy compared to this amazing behemoth.

You will NOT be disappointed with this piece. I like it so much that I can't wait for the other ships in this line next year. I don't know how I can afford both, but I need to find a way. This is an amazing, amazing, piece. Now I know what you guys feel like when you get your Cinemaquettes in. Maybe I should sell some of my lesser pieces and go after only the amazing stuff like this.

There is even a crystal-like substance in the snow every few inches that makes it sparkle like real snow does. It's hard to describe, but take a look when you get yours. It looks so lifelike. This piece really feels like it was stolen from the ILM prop department.

My LCS has an Icons TIE for sale, but they want $1,500 for it, and the acrylic case looks slightly cracked. No way I'd buy it at that price when MR is sure to make one.

Phil should have used a better quality pen.

I noticed that seems to be a problem on some of these. Mine turned out perfectly for some reason as you can see:

http://img287.imageshack.us/img287/7568/hpim05346lo.th.jpg (http://img287.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpim05346lo.jpg)

Maybe it's just the pictures, but the paint apps look very flat on this version.

Remember that he's taking these pics from about an inch away. It looks good at a normal viewing distance. Just look at the "volume" they gave the snow apps on the Walker! It's very nice.

I shouldn't log in this forum anymore.

After I joined for a short 1 month, I have bought a T-850 Cinemaquette, 2 Sideshows, A MR light saber, a GG Vader.....

... and NOW.... I am trying very hard to resist the AT-AT....and EE Saber.

It seems that I might spend more than $5,000 since joining this forum... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Me too, I'm drooling over your Terminator Cinemaquettes. I want them very badly. I've got the SS Predator maquette and the MR Single SE Vader helm on order, so those may be my only $1,000+ items for now. I'm sure I'll get the Indy CM, though. He'll look so cool with those upcoming MR Indy props!

I also recently got hired at a new job that I start in 2-3 weeks, so at least I'll have a lot more money for this stuff now! The only downside is that I'm sure I'm not going to be spending much time on the board at all during the normal workday. :(

Which one I like better? Hummm.....one answer and one answer only. I LOVE'em BOTH. Sorry, it's really hard too pick which one. V.2 maybe have the Snowspeeder and snow base and all but the V.1 have a better and pose and clean clear display value(campare to V.1). The pics of mine took away "a lot" of dark tone on V.2. Ask P1, V.2 is way darker then V.1 in person. Actually, I was surprised that MR made it so dark, it looks like it covered with a layer of matellic black. If I really have a choice, I'd like to see V.1 with the settings of V.2.(just like a couple of pics from RPF, a tanlent fellow re-painted the V.1 with enhenced weathering and snow) I think that probably will be the one I like the best. :)

I've seen those pics also, and they are the best one I have seen. I agree with both of you that the v.1 has the better pose. I like the dark weathering on the v.2, since I feel that's what the filmed version really looked like. They're both great pieces, and I'm extremely happy with mine. :)

One of the thin supports on the leg/foot area was lose in the box when I opened it up. There is another piece that was also loose and I have no idea where it came from. I looked everywhere and cannot figure out where it goes.

I guess I was expecting too much with the AT-AT as it does not really look like a $1000+ piece IMO.

Granted one speeder is crashed and has Luke's grey markings and the other is in good condition with the normal orange markings, but I think the resemblance is decent. I'd love to see the ILM crashed speeder model that MR made a cast of.

I think the difference is mainly at the weathering.

If you guys want to achieve that effect on your existing AT-ATs, you can consider this:

It's extermely easy to apply and can be removed by water.

Perhaps you guys can make your wife or girlfriend do the weathering... After all, the tools to apply the pastel is EXACTLY same as the make up brush they use everyday.
