I would like to see the cannon better. Straight on, you just see the light. Looks like he doesnt even have his cannon.

Very rounded. Alot of rounded areas on him. Shoulders, head and feet. Too much for me.

His face expression kinda dull. Reminds me of a lips selfie pose.

I pre ordered Prime but if they don't change the way this looks, probably passing on Megatron.

Yea i agree, overall i think its great but im not just blown away like i was with optimus. The more i look at it the more things i find issues with where as with optimus it was the exact opposite. Guess ill be using megatron funds for something else, maybe eventually pick it up down the line

I agree with many that it's great but not blown away like OP. I wish his cannon could have been pointed out like he was shooting or something different than how it is. Two fists are unnecessary and a more silver paint job would have been ideal for me. But still going to pick this up. Now get on Starscream P1.

I agree...I just think he is too thin. Megatron is a big powerhouse. The legs are too skinny here IMO.

Definitely miles better than Bayformer design.

His pose changed so that he's slightly to the right with his cannon arm raised so it's visible. Left hand open.

Someone mentioned a lighter silver color. Maybe some red on the inside of the feet and calves areas.

Shoulders squared up. Most G1 designs were very boxey. Prime1 did a good job with Optimus by giving him a modern look but retaining that boxey design. This Megatron looks like the ones from the videogames, war for cybertron.

Was expecting the purple ball and chain but honestly I probably would never display him with it. Just like I wouldn't display OP with the bright yellow axe.

If anything, I'll occasionally have OP use the more modern axe they're adding.

Overall I like the piece. I wish he had the laser mace in purple as a weapon and I sorta wish his laser canon came with a purple light and not red as I'm pretty sure he shot purple blasts but I'd have to go back and check that.

yeah im keeping prime but the plan right now is to display SS leo with prime, they were my favorite characters from those properties and alongside gi joe pretty much defined my childhood

im moving in a year so im trying to keep my ordering in check, also selling a lot of stuff so trying to trim things down all over. I may pick this up eventually if theres a discount because I do think it looks sweet but I decided last month instead of getting the whole turtle team just getting one, and instead of prime and megs id stick with just prime

mostly megatron was the casualty of me ordering the miller batman, that was a spicy meatball lol

Yeah man the red light doesn't bother me as much though I would definitely want purple. The sword is what makes no sense to me. The mace is iconic to any G1 fan. Really TBH both should be offered, this and Prime are a little on the pricey side for size and what is being offered. Man it's crazy how the little things might keep this from being a day 1 pre order.

Because the edition size is worldwide and not exclusive to Sideshow. SS is only a distributor for Prime 1 products in the North American market and specific territories.

They get a certain allotment of the total ES to sell initially. If the demand is there and the supply is available, I believe SS can order more from P1 to fulfill their own customer orders.

However, Prime 1 also offers their products directly through their own site to Japan and any territories not covered by SS. So the supply is split up.

That's been my understanding.

I think some on the WL will convert but if you were counting on the exclusive I wouldn't hang my hat on that one converting with only 500. Reception I think overall has been good and now with P1 making improvements to the statue based on feedback it may be much harder to get that EX.

I hope it does convert for you. My plan is to display with mace in hand. I sort of wish Optimus was holding his gun in the opposite hand so you could display his Axe and gun at the same time. I'm less concerned about that. The mace is definitely much cooler.

I'm assuming the cost is due to the expense of the license and the intricate sculpt. But yeah price is always a concern. I'm not sure how far into this line I could go. If they release Starscream, Galvatron, Soundwave, Jazz, Jetfire, maybe. And that's a huge maybe at the pricing. Also with a G.I. Joe line popping up soon from Prime 1 along with everything else very tough choices will need to be made. I need to eat you know...lol

Starscream, Soundwave I think are a given. I'm curious as to which Autobots they would go with. Honestly, I would love to see a Grimlock, Ultra Magnus, or Rodimus Prime. I think they would go with Bumblebee as a safe bet. Iron Hide or Jazz would also be great. Ultimately I think I am more interested in the Decepticons!!

Yeah they got a fair amount of backlash when they announced that line and pretty much did a 180 degrees into a G1 line. Not sure if it's dead however it's certainly quiet compared to this line.

If they show it, take orders, and get it to collectors before they can second guess the item, it's more money in their pockets and less products in their warehouses.

You make a budget with flexpay and know that the money will be there based on the schedule you've agreed to. Sideshow should offer you the option of early shipping, or keeping the original payment schedule.

I'm actually a little worried about this line. I know for me Megatron will most likely be my first and last G1 TF statue from P1. I like the style no doubt but the pricing is just off. IA is doing some great stuff and their Soundwave is on BBTS now for 999 and it's 30 inches tall and comes with the tapes and switch outs. Thats alot of value. Also where are the future announcements? Are Megs and Prime (and primes variants) all there is going to be?

Well these statues are 1k and are kind of a mix of g1 and movie in terms of looks so does not have a hard set fan base.

Also, they seem kind of small compared to other prime 1 offerings at this price range.

The GI Joe statues looked like a much better value when looking at them next to these.

Heck the beast wars megatron looked very impressive vs this one and I am not a beast wars fan at all.

yeah man as cool as Megatron looks the value isn't there. SS rewards helps ease the blow which is nice. I'm learning more and more in this high end of collecting to have a level head. The Good news is I'm a huge Megs fan so while I believe the pricing is off the statue itself is fantastic.

I jumped off the waitlist for "G1" Megs, before it converted. I'll keep an eye on it as I do like it, however I'm invested in the IA TF's (which are now technically P1's anyway) and like the look so far of XM TF's.

I've grabbed Optimus Primal and will get BW Megatron.

Will likely grab most of the GI Joe's.

Sometimes you just have to pick your battles. At 1k a pop and statues getting bigger and bigger, you can't have them all.

I will say, while the variants make sense in theory, Nemesis, Ultra Magnus and the ever present P1 Gold, it is odd they chose to push them out considering the Optimus Prime EX hasn't gone to waitlist yet.

He showed up, damaged. Damn it. A scratch on the chest, and the cannon arm's tubes were snapped off, and oddly one piece of tubing is completely missing.

He's bigger than I expected, but not quite big enough to justify the 1k price tag. The 1/3 stuff Prime 1 does is bigger.

But damn, that ex sword is HUGE. I could use it as a large knife if I wanted.

I think $100-$150 less would have been the perfect sweet spot for this line. None the less he's heavy as hell n magnets everywhere! And man the detail on the sculpt!

No. And not just because mine arrived damaged.

$1k is A LOT for a statue. Sure, he's bigger than most typical 1/4 premium format figures you'd get from sideshow, and he's a lot heavier, but he's still a relatively simple figure with a pretty simple base in a pretty basic pose. $1k for a mass produced piece of stone is insane. I wonder why I love collecting these things so much lol.

From a design perspective, the switch outs are not what I would have wanted. I think they're quite silly and lame, honestly. The ball and chain doesn't make a lot of sense given the massive size of his cannon, (How does he swing it around? It would get caught.) and the sword is too large to display comfortably. Take a look at what XM is doing with their Optimus Prime, with the myriad of swap outs, giving it plenty of display options. Including something like that would have helped justify the high price.

Arguing about price however is subjective. Depending on your income $1k could be 1/500th of your annual take home pay, or 1/30th of it. Value means very different things to very different people.

I love the classic Transformers, and HATE HATE HATE the Bay movie look. So, even at this INSANE price, I'll fork it over because cool G1 inspired Transformers statues are almost never released.

I can't imagine Prime 1 running 2 separate G1 statue lines.

They probably wanted to produce a traditional G1 line but lost the license to IA, hence the Josh Nizzi G1 hybrid line.
Now that they have the G1 line, they may focus more on that instead.

This is all before we start talking about the other theoretical Josh Nizzi TF line.

Eh. I've had mine since March, and still waiting for a replacement. I contacted SS and they said that Prime 1 is still working on sending more out, and that I can get a refund if I want. I'm considering it. He just doesn't quite feel like a $1k piece.

Although to be fair, none of Prime 1's figures feel like they deserve that premium price. I keep paying it though, so I'm the sucker.

I would hold out for the other nizzi megatron before making a decision, that thing looks pretty wicked. im hoping it will have a more "G1 inspired coh" - that could be very cool

P1 show whats next in this line.... IA shows their Megatron. Neither really has happened and I'm not found of the other Nizzi line. And FYI my on the fence has everything to do with price. The actual statue is awesome but the value is terrible.

Value is low on this piece, for sure. The license must cost a fortune, because he's essentially a 1/4 scale statue in a generic pose for $1k. With no switch outs. Compare to their snake eyes statue, with a more complex base, and switch outs, for 300 less. Terrible value for this.

I think I'm on the cancel train too. I wish Sideshow would let you transfer the NRD to another purchase or something. I'll just have to treat this as an expensive learning experience.

Agreed with the criticisms here. The value of these pieces don't add up, when compared to other P1 statues. If I want a G1 Megatron, I'll get the newest Takara Masterpiece, while a toy is 100% faithful to the source material, with various facial expressions.

For me, the Nizzi interpretations tick all the checkboxes for a proper modern reimagining of G1, but they do nothing for me. I tried to like them.

I personally was blown away by Megatron when I got him in hand! I mean the sculpt, paint work and heft...quality is amazing! Im a huge G1 fan and Nizzi's designs are a great update to the vintage bots! Optimus shipps soon and cant wait for Soundwave!

Yes price point should be maybe 100-200 lower but all statue companies are going crazy with prices. All n all very excited about this line!

With Statues if they look good or cool in pics they tend to look 5-10 times better in person.

I stare at him many times in the day looking across my desk and he looks way cooler in person.

I see mine in person every day. I'm looking at him right now. In person he's pretty bland and boring. Your pictures make him seem more dynamic than he really is.

After having him for about 3 months I guess I just don't love him. Shame, since I'm a huge non-Bay Transformers fan.
